  1. I'm back in the dugout... After a horrible season, Roberto Martinez finally got the chop in the winter break as his Napoli side lay 19th in Serie A amassing a lowly 17 points. Straight to the point the board requested European football and supplied a kitty of £50m. As it stands Napoli are 12 points adrift. Player wise only Rui and Allan remain from that Sarri side. Star of the show is a 26 year old Renato Sanches with little supporting acts. As with Roma I'll build from the back and opt for home grown players. My first game? Juventus!
  2. Rightly or wrongly I've decided to walk away from the Stadio Olimpico on the eve of the season. Stefano Piolo is the man to replace me which seems a very good fit. 4 consecutive Scudettos, 2 Coppas and a European Cup. Not bad.
  3. The winter World Cup made the fifth season in Rome perhaps the most difficult yet. The injuries piled up along with the fixtures, but we refused to break winning a domestic double with only one defeat along the way. As aforementioned the European final saw us face The Old Lady in Manchester. 3-0 down inside 26 minutes, there was no way back. We would eventually lose 4-1 in a humiliating and sore end to the season. Under proved yet again he's one of the world's best talents with 34 assists. Bellissimo. Watching on as Bonucci restored Juve's European honour, I couldn't help but feel my time in the capital could be over.
  4. I've Just signed Angileri in the 5th season for £27m. Very comfortable on the ball and strong one on one.
  5. How about Marco Da Graco? 2023 European Cup final is at Old Trafford against Juventus. Massive.
  6. Made a big money move to Inter on my save. Looks a pure athlete, technically not great. Tsadjout, Gori and Capone are worth a look.
  7. What a fantastic transfer window! How are you setting up tactically? I'd be tempted to rule possession with Tonali and Gomez.
  8. 5th season for me and Juventus have started to slow in the Scudetto lagging behind Lazio and the Milan clubs. They are in the Champions league quarter final though. 2022 is a slog of a season btw. Word of warning for those yet to experience the winter World Cup.
  9. I would persist with Zaniolo. He's currently starting for me ahead of Tonali and Melegoni. Brings lovely balance to the centre of the pitch with his left foot.
  10. It was a cool spring evening in Budapest 2022 at the Puskas Ferenc stadion. Roma a new European power v the the white of Real Madrid. The game would finish 5-2 featuring a hat trick from the brightest talent in football, Pellegri. PSG, Benfica and Barcelona lay in wake as did our domestic rivals as we trotted to a third consecutive Scudetto. The treble however wasn't completed. Pellegri and Under were the star performers and Insigne proved to be our Baggio with 16 goals and 29 assists. Zaniolo and Bianda broke into the first team and the academy has produced two bright young talents who should follow suit. Forza Roma!
  11. Riccardi currently 20 still has yet to realise his full potential 2/4 stars. Worth keeping around, but he hasn't pushed his way into the first team as of yet. Pellegrini I sold in my first year as he didn't fit my system. I do believe he could a extremely good full back with the right development. Those managing Roma should keep an eye on Bianda. Physical French defender who could prove a strong squad option.
  12. 19 composure at 18. Wow. Have to reveal I'm slightly jealous you've got the national job. Lovely generation.
  13. Season 3 brought an incredibly tough fought domestic double, in which Juve pushed us every step of the way in both competitions. Only 2 defeats and 88 points wasn't enough for Nagelsmann as we retained the Scudetto with 96 points and triumphed in the Coppa final. Wary the Old lady would remain strong, we needed a statement signing during the summer that would send shockwaves through the peninsula. £38.5m....
  14. Nice to see a your Atalanta side making steady progress, Vokes. Shame about Varnier as he looks a player. Any note on how Capone has developed?
  15. January 2021 and life in the capital is fantastico. A comfortable 4-0 victory over Milan witnessed us lift the Italian Super cup. Domestically we have an 8 point lead over Juventus whilst Man City lie ahead in Europe. The big news however is the signing of a young Italian midfield maestro for a small £4.9m.
  16. Luperto for £4.4m is a bargain. Let me know how he performs.
  17. I actually attempted to pry Immobile away from the rivals. A fee was reached with the club, but he wouldn't entertain a deal. If Belotti hasn't made a move already then he would get my vote. All this Juventus bashing! Thought I should add they remain unbeaten in my third season after 12 games.
  18. Out and out wingers though none do the job quite like Florenzi. Just a word for those managing Roma. Keep your eyes peeled for Antonucci and Riccardi. Lovely talents in the making.
  19. Cheers Lucas. The tactic is very similar to the one used by the Roma side of 2001. A 3-4-1-2 with emphasis on balance. Two true wide players (wingers in this instance), three at the back and a traditional ten (advanced playmaker). My central midfield pairing is a CM & BBM and the strike partnership a DLP & Poacher. I love the formation as it allows for width whilst maintaining bodies in the middle of the park. The summer sadly waved goodbye to Dzeko, Perotti, Pastore, and Fazio. The one investment Pellegri for £45m. The bigger arrival for the league came in the form of Milans new head coach, Pep!
  20. Second season all wrapped up and what a season it was. 38 games, 32 wins, 108 goals, 100 points!. Only two losses all year was indicative of the machine like team we've become and further the quality we had to reach to surpass Juventus. Stand out performers were Schick who grabbed 31 league goals and Meret who saved far more points than I can remember. January brought Melegoni from Atlanta for a snip at £4.9m and Varnier will follow in the summer for £35m. As the Scudetto was lofted on high by Manolas in the roaring Olimpico it was clear that a great team had won the title the great individuals failed to collect on so many occasions. To Europe!
  21. Great money for Manolas. He's fallen off a cliff for me form wise. Love the home grown additions of Beradi and Cragno. Forza Roma! As we head into the winter break it would appear I have developed the golden touch. Unbeaten, 52 goals, 51 points and 16 clear of Juventus. Surely we can't throw it away?
  22. A whopping £50m. 3 points between ourselves and the old lady last season, he could be the difference. Anyone else experiencing a manager merrygoround? Lazio - Simeone Juventus - Nagelsmann Napoli - Spalletti Inter - Mazzarri Milan - Zidane
  23. The purist in me wanted to retain him, but with Gerson and Gonalons returning and the aforementioned rising star Zaniolo, there was no longer room in my heart. Another quiet summer for me with just the one signing, but what a signing. Welcome to the club Daniele Rugani!
  24. Decided to punt for Roma this year. Absolutely loved the look of the squad, combinations of physical, technical, experience and youth. It was for this reason my only transfer in was Meret for £25m. When it comes to the peninsula tactically, two things are instricic for me. Three at the back being the first and the classic No10. So it was the 3-4-1-2 was born. It was a season that promised so much. We fought Juventus till the last day for the title, but ultimately fell short by 3 points. Fiorentina upset our odds in the Coppa final. Alas Real Madrid dispatched us in the last 16 of the European cup. Apologies must go to our captain De Rossi who will leave in the summer trophyless. The promise of Under, Kluivert, Schick and Pellegrini however promises optimism for the future.
