  1. The solution would be for the AI to have a clear idea of the squad, which players can play where (properly training them to do so) and also having a small selection of youth players (3-4) that wants to give chances to during the season and are kept in the U21s or B squad.

In order to do so, squads would need to be smaller and better built. In the second season of most games, for example, Man City has a first squad of almost 40 because of all the players returning from loans (the game is specially bad at this, as big teams usually have no more than 5-8 players loaned out when in reality you could see 20-25).

To sum up: smaller senior squads and better built Youth teams with selected prospects in them.

  2. Seeing as SI has finally given up to new players (FIFA kids) on this issue, I would ask to have at least the option (similar to My World, Real World, etc) of a realistic injury ratio for advanced gamers who want a realistic experience. Personally, I've lost total interest in the game. The AI is just dumb and players are always healthy. The most common number of injuries in PL clubs after a couple of seasons is zero or one. This is ridiculous. The game has become easier and easier with every iteration until it has just lost interest.

You can edit injuries and injury frequency with the pre-game editor. If so many people like to increase injuries, have someone make a file and post it somewhere on the forum or fmscout website to download.

This is a misconception. When you edit the incidence ratio of an injury in the editor, you only change the probability of total injuries being of said type, not the global number of injuries themselves. So it makes no real effect. The current way to actually increase injuries is giving every player an injury proneness aproaching 20. I have made several tests with this and the game becomes more realistic. However, I would still welcome an official option for realistic injuries similar to what we had in the past (I still play FM13 Classic from time to time and things get really challenging there).

That is your approach to matches and training which should give you less injuries than in real life clubs.

I agree, that's why I want more injuries (quantity) in the game. As far as I know, we cannot change this in the editor, as the incidence ratio only states the percentage of total injuries that are of said type, but does not allow you to actually make the total number of injuries more or less.

  5. As a veteran of the game who finds it increasingly easy to beat the AI in every league, I think the game should have more injuries or at least give players the option for real-life numbers instead of the current 75-80%. Personally I find it too easy to just give proper rest to players and avoid major setbacks for entire seasons. This makes the experience much less challenging than it should be. Just look at the real world and compare. Top teams are finding it harder and harder to keep their squads fit even with state of the art staff and facilities, and young players are specially prone to injury in their early development. Human players who feel hard done by the game can still play easy mode (current mode) or use the in-game editor to cheat and heal their players.

I know i't contrary to SI philosophy to have difficulty levels (and rightly so), but this should be considered at least as a semi-official data file for hardcore gamers.

I found a 198 PA 24 year old in PSGs reserves, listed as unavailable for loans. In real life these clubs have loan armies, but in FM they're hiding Messi's reincarnation away, making sure that he will never develop

There's definitely a problem with big clubs being unable/unwilling to send players out on loan to improve their CA and reputation. Just compare the initial numbers of loanees in the game with succesive seasons and you get a glimpse of the problem.

DaveInci's awards file tends to improve the development of youngsters because it makes them more "desirable" to managers and clubs, but the loan issue persists, as lower league teams would rather renew contracts than bet on a young loan.

  7. Somehow, this season I'm unable to reactivate this competition in the Editor advanced rules. I've tried everything that worked in previous versions and more (including changing the country holiday dates, the competition dates and any general option available) but to no avail. It seems the competition is disabled beyond the editor, so I would appreciate a confirmation from anyone else who has tried or has the knowledge.

    Thank you in advance

  8. Similarly, the media description translation for "experienced winger" should be "Extremo experimentado", and not "Experimentado interior". The term "interior" in spanish refers to a mezzala, not to a winger as is used in some media descriptions. So, "winger" should always be "extremo".

  9. In media descriptions of players, attacking full-backs keep appearing as "lateral defensivo atacante" ("defensive attacking full-back"), which is a contradiction in terms and a mistake. The term "full-back" should translate simply as "lateral" and "attacking full-back" should be either "carrilero" or "lateral ofensivo".

When I try to add the Cup to the Italian rules in Basic, it worked without issue for me.

I see. But is there a way to add it to the country without going through the assistant and selecting teams? Just leaving it as it is. In other words, I just want to change the current competition dates, not the format itself or the teams involved.

  11. How can I edit the Viareggio Cup? It's listed as an italian tournament, whoever, when I follow the usual way of editing advanced rules in the country, it does not appear there. I've tried moving it to another country, but to no avail.

    Help would be appreciated.

  12. I can confirm with much relief that the schedule problem is apparently solved by the way described above. However, in the 2024/25 season (on December the 13th) I have suddenly experienced a crash dump. I do not know whether this is due to the database modifications or a problem associated with the newest patch, as many people seem to be documenting similar crashes in the forum.

For what it's worth I'm working on getting my FIFA Club World Cup up and running for the next update and that won't schedule in 2021 either. The setup date and season update day are 5 days apart through (June 10th and 15th) so I'll try messing with those.

I would try using the method described above (i.e. setting both dates to June 11th).

First thing you could do is remove the monday, so you have both dates at set moments. That way they can't move around and confuse things.

A two week period should also work as the two weeks will mean it can never end up on the wrong side.

I have tried setting BOTH dates to june 11th (2013 in the case of setup date, as it forces you to enter a year) and the third season is now scheduled properly. I will go on with the test for several seasons to see if the problem is solved.
