Squad building has indeed improved as far as I can see (specially in the building of U21 and U18 squads, which is FAR more balanced and realistic now, with every major team actually having enough players there), but it's not nearly perfect yet. For me the deepest concern is teams sending so few players on loan. The numbers are ridiculously low. Also, teams tend to have overbloated squads, specially at sub-top level. As far as I can see, they don't get rid of enough free agents at the end of the season, instead keeping players that they will never use. This affects player development because it makes the young prospects less desirable.

if it is so great, can u explain to me why  17 players from a squad of 30 are with red match sharpness?

    image.thumb.png.16c7fb311c2408781eca9cedb3f0a2db.png

    this is the u21 schedule

with this i should expect only 13 players correctly developed with actual gametime from a squad of 30 ? is this working fine?

  2. frankly i already did that when i reported this on fm23, so no .. am not going to do it again, maybe not the best answer but is really frustrating having to report the same problem a year after, am not going to invest time preparing a save or match plans to replicate the problem like i did when i reported this in fm23, a year ago.

since u can import saves from fm23 now, use the files from the report i did then, is in this link to my comment with the files and the steps to replicate the problem.

Thanks for providing that save game. Our QA team will investigate what has been happening in your save.

@Michael Santi think i found the problem with the instructions in match plan scenarios, they dont match the new team instructions available in tactics, what i mean by this?

in the tactics the only options to pick in "line of engagement" are 3: high press , mid block and low block. as u can see in the image bellow
    image.png.d8fe32f367ade5ae0dd5d46d78f878eb.png

but in the match plans scenarios u can select 5 lines of engagement, because in fm22 and in previous versions of the game, when we had two more lines of engagement that were more extreme at both sides, very high press and very low block (red square  on the image bellow).

    image.png.4943d23319572583424227da1d9b15f5.png

and since the options for lane of engagement dont match the currently available options in the tactics (5 in match plans vs 3 in tactics ), the match plans get bugged out and wont apply correctly all the team instruction set in each scenario.

i hope this help to find and fix the problem with the match plans.

  4. i uploaded  the file

    • testing match plan madrid.fm

the match plan to be used is named "test" and starts playing with the scenario "drawing" using the tactical style "base"

    image.png.5ad1c14264d96cae75856feac5fbc942.png

after the team scores 1 goal the scenario "winning 1+" should trigger using the tactical style "winning 1" with standard tempo, standard trigger press and time wasting increased to "frequently", also removes the counter press instruction

    image.png.f5afecd7b2991ee4da058f23d1f42250.pngimage.png.ebcdd02fa916f15cfa92f6ca6670cac7.png

but the only change that u can see while actually playing the match and using the match plan is in "time wasting" that changes from "sometimes" to "frenquently", the "tempo" and "trigger press" never change to standard, and the counter press instruction never gets removed.

this is a screenshot of the team instructions while playing a match with the match plan "test" in use and u can see only "time wasting" changed, all the other instructions never change. so i know the trigger for the scenario is happening, but not all the instructions are being applied as they should.

Had our team look into this and they advised the following:

You can warn a player you're going to rest them before a game in the 'discuss' options, if they agree then they won't be upset at missing the next match. Typically with Important or Star players they want to play all the matches and all the mins (80% or higher), so they are likely to get upset at being 'rotated'.

If you would like us to take a further look, we'll need your save file.

the problem with that is that u end up making a promise to not play them for a match, but if i play the match and am losing  and for what ever reason (injury for example) i need them to play for the 2nd half or 30+ mins i  will end up breaking the promise of resting them and getting the morale affected negatively as a result of that, its like putting my self in a really bad situation that as a lot of chances of end up back firing.

i agree with this "You can warn a player you're going to rest them before a game in the 'discuss' options, if they agree then they won't be upset at missing the next match. Typically with Important or Star players they want to play all the matches and all the mins (80% or higher), so they are likely to get upset at being 'rotated'."

but it would be good for immersion to have the option of telling the player, hey i havent play you recently because u are looking fatigued, currently in the answers available in my original post, i cant do it, i dont care if the player ends up mad because he is not playing or didnt like my answer, but i think we should be able to give an answer related to fatigue as the reason why they are not playing

edit: to add further to the "resting for a match" option .. some times it works and other times they refuse to rest, thats ok, but the same kind of interaction should be an option when they complain about their playing time, thats my point, the problem is that the reason for fatigue or underperforming due to tiredness is missing and that is one one of the possible reasons of why a star/important/regular player is not playing as much, just a forced rotation because the player is tired/jaded, i dont ask that they agree 100% do that answer, probably they wont like the answer, but we should be able to give it.

  6. just to explain further the problem, the problem iis not only the missing options in the team instructions for the match plans scenario setup, the problem is that even when setting multiple scenarios up the tempo and the other "balanced/standard " options never change, for example

scenario drawing the team plays with "high tempo" and "run at defense"

after scoring a goal in the scenario "winning 1+" the shout i use has balanced tempo and no dribbling selected, meaing  "drible less often" and "rut at defence" both unselected, but when the trigger for the scenario "winning 1+" happens, both tempo and dribbling settings remain unchanged and stuck on high tempo and "run at defence""  selected, but i specifically changed those two instructions to balanced  and also waste more time, only the waste time change happens but the other options never change, thats the problem.

  7. the same problem happens for trigger press, u cant select the "balanced" option so it remains unchanged even when the shout selected has it

    image.png.60d4dca8741a179bb904eaa887ad358c.png

    image.png.5a635710d602c56dc663e9c220d92955.pngimage.png.a94faf26282fd07ae1e404e87ca884bd.png

the same problem with tackling, there is no option to leave "get stuck in" and "stay on feet" unchecked, and if u have one checked it will remain activated even when the shout has both unselected.

    image.png.9012d85aa462b708302a249e93a4475f.png

and as u can see in the image  there is some instructions that have no text, in the image above there is not text in the two instructions under "stay on feet"

On this front, the way our in-game stats are recorded aren't always in line with how real life are recorded, which yes admittedly isn't ideal. But does mean that direct comparisons between the game and RL in some areas isn't really viable.

Specific examples of where they should dribble and instead pass would of course be really helpful here.

    Thanks.

surely comparing stats from irl to stats from ingame in dribling its not a "fair" comparison since dribbling ingame its more like carrying the ball and not actually attempting to create a chance by feints/skills, but surely IRL stats can be taken in consideration in how often dribblers irl are attempting to win 1vs1 by feint/skills against defenders, which is the main complain on how wide attacking players very rarely do it ingame.

the fact that we see more often players from the fullback positions attempting feints/skills it shows that the mechanics for it is there, is just the roles inside forward and inverted wingers arent doing it.

  9. any info on this problem on the current match engine?

a lot of times it has been answered by si games than most of stats are trying to replicate with happens in real life, well in the image bellow u can see the dribbling stats from top 20 dribbling players in the current champions league.

top 1 is vinicious jr with 54 attempts, 23 successful with a % of success of 42.6, real madrid only has played 6 games in the current champions league (second image)

am not trying to annoy anyone by this, just backing up with data the dribbling absence of attacking gameplay in the current match engine, mainly because attacking players rarely attempt to dribble.

  10. look at these stats 11 dribbles  ... just 6 from neymar .. all of them are dribbling away from the goal and the only one inside the box and is a failed cross

    image.thumb.png.b2a08d7ca5f1ca2b0ec2a28fc5bc456f.png

    match:

    Yorkie City v Paris SG.pkm

    tactic:

    image.png.d3fe05755c6547d468dbad4628d2d6c8.png

neither of neymar, mbappe or messi can even attempt to win an 1vs1 and shoot at goal playing against a low tier team in versus mode.

so no, dribbling is not working at all as it was in previous versions of the game,

  11. @fc.cadoni sure sure ... "keep the fully working tactic" as u wish .. for me its easier to add you to the ignore list since u refuse to show proof of a working tactic with IF/IW actually dribbling and winning 1v1s consistently. good luck

i dont have to convince you of anything .. there is other users that share my opinion about the non existant dribbling issue
