Regardless of whether you agree of the Monarchy or not. You can't help but agree that we don't half do these things well, we know how to put on a show
At what cost? Stewards, policing etc those police could be better doing something more worthwhile like maybe stopping crime.

I'd be more forgiving if it was just a matter of logistics, but cutting essential stuff (the hospital and foodbanks more than the football! :D) because of this moral panic to pay respects doesn't happen without having all these years of dogma shoved down our throats.
Nearly as bad as religion

When King Charles dies it will be less/smaller type then now. We haven't had it for 70 years
Hope it's another 70 years then I'll be beyond caring

The opinion of Charles is much worse than the Queen on recent polls. Given this poll was taken when the Queen was around things may look different. Not saying massive changes, but it will likely have an impact, particularly with the younger generations who are polling less favourably to the monarchy as a whole.

Not sure I was expecting the monarchy to be quite as popular as it is

I honestly don't think I've taken a bank holiday off in the last 5 years thinking about it, bar Christmas day. Not even sure if Christmas day even counts as a bank holiday?
I just see it as an opportunity to earn extra cash.
Doesn't the UK have one of the most bank holidays in Europe? Next week bank holiday is obviously a one-off occurrence for a long time so I don't think it will be made to a permanent thing.
One of the lowest in the world actually

The thing is, they actually have! The terrestrial TV stations aren't allowed to show any comedy programmes until after the funeral! Utterly bizarre.
When humour becomes real life, we have to worry

To be fair, they had several more anecdotes than her to regale.
For PM Truss, it was basically, met her once then she died. Was never going to be great.
Handshake of doom!

Maybe my humour is way out there but it sort of amuses me to think that it's sad that Liz can't see that people kinda liked her. If the flowers and all at Buck Palace are anything to go by, and the words from random people...and the fact they cancelled all the bloody sport as a mark of respect.
I think she's be a bit annoyed that there was no footy at the weekend...bet she was a Chelsea fan.
Maybe some of you believe she's up there lookimng down on us. Possibly saying, can't you put a bloody film on instead of all this talk about me, and ain't Boris a buffon.
Not too soon to have a bit of a laugh about it, is it?
Humour has been cancelled as a mark of respect

This is the nub of the problem - it's never the time and the place.
We need to just be good little boys and girls and accept that we're not as good as the ruling elite.
