  1. Win or lose, you get a match report in your inbox. If you lose, the game clearly calculates the average age of your team, and if it's below a certain number you will ALWAYS get the headline "Youthful [team] come unstuck". It's infuriating to see it every time I lose.

My feature request is can you please have some variety in the youthful unstuck headlines, or just bin this 'feature'.

I'm well aware, incidentally, that I could fix this myself by losing less. But Torquay.

  2. Quite a niche request but theoretically easy to implement, you'd think. The options to apply for jobs while you're on holiday could be improved I think. I was just at Brighton, quit, want another job, but figured I'd holiday and apply. I want a lower league job, but not in England or Scotland because the work permit rules wind me up. I have Italy and France loaded and any job below the top division in those would be fine. Ideally therefore I'd be able to choose from all the leagues loaded, in the sense of 'Apply for any jobs in the following leagues', then select from the leagues loaded. I could therefore choose Ligue 2, Serie B etc, and not choose Ligue 1, Serie A or anything in England or Scotland.

  3. Haha wow, I've never even seen 'Add as transfer target'! That must be what I've seen people talk about as I've just seen you can put a ceiling on the offer your DoF makes. Mad how you still discover stuff about the game having played it for years. Thanks!

On the original point, I guess it makes sense how it works via 'Add as transfer target'. But I have my staff responsibilities set to have the DoF handle new signing contracts - I make an offer, it gets accepted, and he goes 'I'll handle the negotiations'. A few days later it comes back saying the player has rejected the contract (and then obviously the game makes the player reject any re-approach for a couple of months). At no point am I able to tell the DoF how much I'm willing to let him offer the player; you only seem to be able to do that if you 'Add as transfer target'. Just seems like a bit of a gap, like SI have forgotten to apply the feature in both places. There's no logical reason for you to be able to set a max wage before you make an offer, but not after an offer is accepted.

  4. Does anyone know what 'Match preview' training is? It seems to show up by default the day before every game. Is it physical preparation for a game? Or tactical? Something else?

The reason I ask is because unless I'm being blind you can't choose it if you're manually changing the training schedule, but you can remove it, which might be useful to give the players a full day off in a 2-game week for example. But obviously if it's not physical, if the preview involves just talking about the forthcoming game or something, you might as well do it as it won't affect them physically.

(I'm aware that sounds strange given these are pretend people on a computer we're talking about, but hopefully you get what I'm saying.)

    Thanks.

Btw the DoF will try to offer the player their current agreed playing time as a minimum. So increase their agreed playing time if you want it to be higher as then the DoF will offer them that - but they can go higher if the player demands it during negotiations

I keep hearing people say you can direct the DoF to do specific thing you want, like a min/max wage and so on, but I can't see any screen you do that on. Where is it?

  6. I've avoided having a DoF for years but I've decided to give it a go. This bloke has JPA of 17, JPP of 18 and Negotiating of 17.

I'm letting him do contracts. So far I've asked him to renew two first0team player contracts, and negotiate a contract for a 16 year old keeper I'd had a bid accepted on.  All three, I got a message in the inbox saying the contract had been rejected. The 16 year old keeper had a scout rating of 83 off a scout who also has JPA of 17 and JPP of 18, so it seems unlikely the DoF has gone 'Nah he's rubbish, I'll go in low'. And both the first-team player contracts were rejected because he didn't offer them playing time guarantees they wanted.

What's the point of having this eejit if he's going to make a bollix of it? Or am I doing it wrong?

  7. I'd add improvement to how the 'national pool' works. Surely virtually every Irish player would want to play for his country, and yet there seem to be some Irish players hidden to me as the national manager. If the national pool isn't just a list of every Irish player who would consider playing for Ireland, what's it actually for? It seems mad that I'd have to scout for players like a club manager.

  8. Year after year it baffles me how I'm supposed to manage staff working on different squads at my club.

For example right now in my Brighton save I go to Training -> Coaches -> Edit Coach Assignments, and I see all first team coaching staff listed, but also U23 coaches...but not the U18 coaches. What's that about?

Then if I go to Development Centre, in the top menu there is 'Staff' and I can select either U23 or U18 staff, each of which gives me the overall summary of the staff for those squads, but no way to see who's in each team, or their attributes. If I want to see the actual members of either the U23 or U18 coaching team, I have to go back into Staff in the main left-hand menu, then Overview. And from there if I pick Coaching, it only shows me the first team staff...but at the bottom are two blue links for the U23 and U18 staff and aaaargh why are they down there now?!

It doesn't seem at all logical. So my feature request is to make it easier to see staff for a specific squad only, grouped in a sensible place - here's one screen where I can manage the first team staff, here's another for the U23 staff and here's another for the U18 staff, not all together sometimes and all jumbled up all over the place.

Has this been fixed in the patch @Reddiablo? Couldn't find it in the patch notes.

I have a similar problem to JulesD I think but not quite the same. I am managing Helmond Sport in the Keuken Kampioen.

I have definitely not selected 'Automatically make unfit first team players available for this team' in the U18 Match Day options.

But every week I have players who play for the U18s and I don't seem to be able to stop it. I try to pick them and I get the message 'Players cannot feature for both the first team and B team in the same week (Under-23 players are exempt) (Currently x)'

x being a number obviously. I have no B team but the players in question are indeed playing for the U18s, I can see it on their individual form pages. For example, in the January transfer window I have bought a new 24-year-old, Dutch, first-choice goalkeeper. He plays for the U18s and I can't pick him for the first team. The only way I can make it stop is to make my other goalkeeper available for the U18s (which in turn means he can't be sub keeper on first team duty).

Seem there's obviously a bug with this. I can supply the save game if necessary.

  10. Hi editors. Does anyone know if it would be possible to create a world knockout tournament (across a whole year I think rather than in a short month or so like the World Cup), where the top 128 teams in the world rankings are paired up in a random draw?  Just those 128 teams in a knockout and a new random draw each round like a normal cup competition. I think it would be fun to see Holland v Uganda and Kuwait v Argentina in a knockout with no qualification or anything. It'd be good to have all the world teams in it but that would presumably be hard with the 211 teams or whatever number there is. Anyone ever tried anything like this?

  11. Out of interest, is there a club in the game where players won't ever end up with the 'pre-concern' 'Is starting to consider whether he should be looking to move to a bigger club'? I mean, managers at whatever the biggest clubs in the world are, Manchester United or Barcelona or whatever, do they never see that from their players? Or is it universal, so 'bigger' actually means 'different'?

On the OP Celtic are a big club (albeit in a small league) with good training facilities. If the player is also a fan what can you offer him apart from excessive wages to encourage a move?

Yeah, fair point. But mate, real world...he's asking for 3-4k a week maybe, and I'm thinking that's worthwhile for a punt on a kid. But in the game, he loves Celtic so much he's asking for a good 2-3 times what's realistic...Celtic for life, what can I say. But he's no Tierney eh.

  13. Yeah look I'm not moaning really, just trying to point out the lunacy of it in a game that prides itself on realism.

I gave you Tommy Brown, and here by contrast is Osas Brown (no relation). Sixteen years old. Also decent but not amazing attributes. He'll cost me about the same amount, up to £1.7m ultimately, from an English club. He already gets paid five times as much as Tommy at a staggering £150 a week. But he only wants £1k - £1.5k a week, presumably because his agent isn't mainlining clozapine. It's not that he wants a lot of money that strikes me as crackers, it's just the absolute zero bloke-called-Kelvin chance of that ever happening in real life that thrust me at the forums.

Yeah I know, it's a funny old game. But I'm sure we can agree this one's a side-splitter.

You can see he's going to ask between 9k and 13k. Is that the issue or the fact that he wanted the increase after 20 matches?

I would be surprised if he got anywhere near 20 matches for you within the first contract (only 2 years as well), tbh, so for me it's a question of whether you're willing to pay between 9k and 13k in wages.

Well I didn't see that when I approached him - if I had I wouldn't have bothered. But that's not my issue. You can't be telling me that, in real life, you think a 16-year-old kid on £30 a week at Celtic, with no pedigree, an average scout report and respectable but hardly outstanding attributes, would ask for between £9k and £13k a week?

I mean, he might ask, but the laughter would be ringing around the boardroom for many weeks to come.

  15. I found him again, here he is. Decent attributes but nothing special. Never played a professional match. Currently gets £30 a week at Celtic - that's thirty pounds a week. And he wants ten thousand or more a week? Have a word mate.

To be serious though, that's not right is it? I mean this game's all about realism but that's the opposite of realism. If the agent of a kid in real life did that, that kid would be playing for Celtic for a few years, then Alloa, then maybe Selfoss, then working at Poundland and his agent would be in jail.

In real life 16 year olds do not earn that money even at top level there might be a few exceptions like yousouf mokoko [worldie at dortund]

Now I found a youngster at liverpool age 16 had a value of of about 26m which I was shocked at the age of 16 so I had to sign him up I had top scouts too and signed him up for 30m at 16 he is a lw/rw went out on loan to huddersfield and barnsley  after  77 games for both clubs combined he scored just 9 goals and 9 assist his value dropped to 21.5m now at age 19 but earning 44.5k. I am no longer at that club were I bought him but he could still be a good player but probs not a top player

It almost seems fair enough that you'd get paid loadsamoney if you move for a huge transfer fee - maybe not £44.5k, but a good few grand a week. But this eejit at Celtic was £625k compensation 'possibly rising to £1.7m'. Even whoever decides compensation had an eyebrow raised as this muppet's agent was looking for his pen, before I pulled the plug.

  17. I'm managing in the English Premier League. I found a 16-year-old midfielder at Celtic who my scout rated at 55/100. His attributes were decent enough for me to take a punt on the £625k compensation to take him off their hands.

Little %*&$ wanted a 2-year contract for 12k a week, with a raise to about 30k after 20 games. I wish I'd taken a screenshot but I binned the greedy mondayfunner in anger before I thought to. That can't be anywhere near realistic for a youth kid, can it? I mean, he was 16, so his contract would run out at 18/19, it's not like it was taking him into his early 20s.

Premier League kids don't really get that much do they? I found a news story saying Liverpool were capping their youth team at £40k a YEAR! This cheeky wee backstard was hardly a wonderkid, pretty average really. He wasn't even getting Breakthrough Prospect until the second year!

  18. I know this must have come up plenty but it's so maddening I have to have a go: players constantly coming to me with stupid demands that surely, surely don't reflect the real world.

I have a 20-year-old Mexican at my Premier League club. He has three and a half years left on his deal which, admittedly, he signed 18 months ago. He's on 94k a week though, roughly halfway up the table of wages at the club.

I'd just pay the bloke, but he's on a 6.71 average for the season, at Christmas, and playing like a donkey. On what sane grounds would he now come sniffing for a new deal, with 3.5 years to go? I respond with 'you have plenty of time left' because the 'but you're useless mate' options literally never work, and he starts whining about how good he is, then the rest of the team come moaning and the whole thing goes to ****. He's even in 'Other players' with no influence whatsoever, and hardly any mates.

If FM prides itself on at least a degree of realism, what the hell is this? The options are (a) pay him loads more, even if he's pony, or (b) p!ss the entire team off. It's nonsense. If I pay you to reflect your ability you'll be moaning to HMRC son, not your team-mates.
