NWCM is back and Sheffield Wednesday are rampant icon_wink.gif

One of the best sessions since i've been in NWCM last night, and despite a few derogatory comments from my fellow managers, and even the traitor Kev icon_wink.gif , I am very happy with the way my team is playing. I have used about 3 different tactics this season which could probably account for some inconsistency, but what is important is that i'm not using super tactics and doing it with my own 5-3-2 icon_smile.gif

I currently lie 4th with 33pts from 17 games which averages out at around 2pts per game which isnt bad, but I think i'll have to do a little better to ensure I get into the CL.

UEFA Cup

I have been playing superbly in the UEFA Cup, or the winners cup as I like to call it icon_wink.gif .All oppenents have been embarrased by my squad of stars, and I am quietly confident of victory.

League Cup

Cup competitions are going very well this year, and having beaten Chelsea 4-0 in the Quarter Final I am awaiting a tough Semi-Final match, perhaps v Mackem, although I would like a tougher test.

Best Result

Has to be the 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the League Cup, never has my team looked so confident on the big stage, and all opponents should be quaking in their boots!!

Worst Result

Losing 4-2 at home v HL7s Villa was very dissapointing. However the result doesn't tell the full story. My usual hero Cudicini had a nightmare, and has subsequently lost his place to Hugo Pinheirro, maybe Mackem would be tempted to make a bid for the out of favour Italian, I hear he loves that guy icon_wink.gif.

Overall Sheffield dominated the match possesion and chances wise, with a better performance form the GK and Strikers it could have been a different story. However as Villas position shows, they are a strong outfit this season.

My Competitors

HL7 He is having his best season to date, and with his great start he must be confident of CL football next year. I don't think that he will be able to keep this great form going all season, but I do expect him to finish in the top 4.

Mackem His league performance this season is not quite as impressive this year, but I do expect him to catch up to HL7 in the next 10 games. With Anelka sure to be a hit on his first season, Mackem has to be the strongest contender for the title.

Nuno Well, at the moment it appears I called it right with regards to Nunos performance in the league. Without a doubt he has some great players there, but for some reason he cannot find the right formula to get them performing consistently. I expect his form to improve for the 2nd half of the season, but qualifying for the CL could be tough, and with his wage bill, this could be disastrous.

Cannot wait for next session, see you all there icon_smile.gif

There are some unrest in our dressing room about the way things are going with Fulham. In spite of our brilliant run on Champions League where we reached the 2nd phase, we're sitting on 8th place in the league and that isn't satisfactory with our one million/week wage bill and all the "superstars" in our squad.

Premier League

After 17 games we won 8, drew 2 and lost 7. icon_redface.gif Best result so far were against the pathetic sides of Oldham, Grimsby, Man City and West Ham, curiously (or maybe not four teams who are fighting to escape from relegation.

Worst results were all our defeats, but to be honest I was worse than p1ssed after losing to Mike's Villa 2-3. Firstly, because he's a pish manager and it isn't good for my reputation losing at so irrelevant opposition and secondly because after being down 0-2 and geting to equalize it some Villa moron scored the winning goal at 88th minute. icon_mad.gif I didn't appreciate also watching the goals being scored by Balaban and Ljungberg like that scottish shrimp pointed out.

Champions League

After passing easily the qualifying round we were seeded on Group 1 where Roma, Bordeaux and Sigma Omolouc would be our opponents.Losing both games to the italians was somehow predictable but we won both games against the checzs and won and drew with Bordeaux. The victory against the French was a superb 5-1 and after that game no one could stop us on our way to phase 2.

Now wehave been seeded along with Barcelona, Borussia Dõrtmund and FB Kobenhavn. We started off with a game at Craven Cottage against the Germans and we won 2-0 on a great performance but then a week later we lost with the Danish in a schocking 2-3. Now both games with Barca will be decisive towards our future in the competition.

FA Cup

No games played yet but we'll start with a game away at Coventry. We could have been luckier in the draw, after all this is just 3rd stage.

League Cup

Fulham are the cup holders and are here to try to mantain the cup at London. On 3rd round we trashed Middlesbrough 4-1 and on 4th round another easy win at Brighton. I've played my reserves and 4-o was the final result.

Transfer Market

This season has seen some new faces arriving at Fulham and some others leaving us. The main buy was Julius Aghahowa who came from Middlesbrough on a 20M deal. He has been awesome so far and he's already our best player, league topscorer and board's favorite player. Every penny spent with the Nigerian has been worth so far. We also bought in Alonso Solis on a 1.5M bargain. He's an AM C and will be a more than decnt back up to Julius.

With this two buys it was obvious to me that we had too many quality and high earning people in our squad, so we let go three players who played in the same position as the two above: Simão moved to Manchester City on a 5M deal, Ljungberg was sold to Aston villa for 8M and Elmander went back to Feyennord for 7.5M. These three players got us all together as much as Aghahowa costed us, so that was a business lesson to my fellow mates in this clan. icon_wink.gif Other benefit was the noticable decrease of our wage bill. Finally we sold Craddock to Tottenham for 5M. He was 31 and we have young promising D C's waiting for an oppurtunity to reach stardom.

I've left for the final of my post one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me while playing CM. On our league match at Coventry for some reason i forgot to select my five subs so I just had one sub available. My bad luck, it was a goalkeeper Voulgaris. And of course I've had to had an injury during the game: when Malbranque went off injured at 75th minute I had no choice but sub him for Voulgaris. As he didn't seem to be a decent playmaker like Malbranque and because of his attributes on jumping, I pulled back Mantorras to the midfield and put Voulgaris as a striker. icon_eek.gif He didn't made any shots at goal or any headers in those 15 minutes but he had a decent performance with no passes failed and a 7 rating at the end of the game. icon_confused.gif

You've got to love this game. icon_smile.gif

Aston Villa Update

This was a good and bad session for Aston Villa. It started off so brightly with a 1-0 away win over Tottenham who have a pretty strong team, then I continued my dominance with a 2-0 win over Grimsby, a 5-2 win over Oldham and a 3-0 destruction of league rivals W.B.A.

However, fatigue caught up with my players limiting us to a 1-1 draw away to both Man Utd and Bristol City (FA Cup)

Then came the big top of the table clash - Aston Villa v Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. We were 4 points clear going into this match so the pressure was firmly on Steve's Sunderland. To make matters worse, going into this match we lost star left winger Jim Paterson to WBA as his contract was unprotected and he saw them as a bigger club. So that was a major blow to us but I was still quietly confident of playing Steve and coming away with a draw, or even better a win.

We got off to the best start imaginable when stand in winger Filipe Afonso dived in the box for a penalty, which Bosko Balaban converted with minimum effort. However, Nicolas Anelka smashed in an equaliser 2 minutes later to bring the cores at half time to 1-1. Sunderland had the majority of the play so I couldn't really be upset about the result and I was just happy to be hanging on. The second half started and for the first ten minutes of the half we had almost all of the possesion, a good sign I thought. Unfortunately everything went tits up and Sunderland scored their second, which really had me sweating because I couldn't see where an equaliser was coming from. Then in the 88th minute my main centre back, Marvin Andrews was injured and rather than make a straight swap with Cesare Natali, I opted to bring on backup striker Shaun Maloney and play three men up front for the final minutes. You can imagine how I felt when I read a piece of text saying "Maloney with a great chance!" So i'm sure you can imagine how I felt when I read moments later "Great save by Sorensen!" icon_mad.gif

The Malaysian fúcker also missed the rebound and Steve went on to win the match 2-1 which is what he deserved really. I left at this point (coincidental icon_wink.gif) and as far as i'm aware i'm 1 point clear at the top, but I would quite like it if somebody could clear this up for me icon_smile.gif

Spurs apoint Koprivnik as new manager

In a press statement Kris said. "This is a tough challenge, we do curently do have a good squad but most of the players are getting old and past their prime´s so we have to rebuild in the future. After securing some points first and leave the relegation area our goal now is to finnish the season as high as possible. Transfer founds are non existant so the planning for next season isnt an option yet. We do have high goals here, after a promising start we will push for an UEFA cup spot next year but the main goal is to go to the Champions league in 3years max.

P.S. We arent proud of beaing in the same league as Sunderlan;) They a good team but will leave the 3points at the White hart lane everytime they visit us icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

Aston Villa Update

Generally, a very good session for me apart from a few upsets.

These upsets both came away from home to Arsenal and Leeds.

Against Arsenal we drew 2-2 and missed a last minute sitter

(i'm considering making that a registered trademark icon_rolleyes.gif)

and against Leeds we had 10 men since the 11th minute before

losing 2-1 (we were 1-0 up as well icon_mad.gif).

We made one new signing during the session, and that

was Russian winger Dmitri Shoukov who has had one or

two good games but has been generally disappointing.

On a positive note, the domestic cups have been fantastic,

we knocked Colchester out of the League Cup semi finals

with an incredible 9-1 aggregate win. We're also about

to play Watford in the FA Cup semi's and we're still only

two points behind Sunderland (who unfortunately have a game in hand).

I think that Steve's prediction that this would be the

closest NWCM season ever is proving correct.

Here are the games played in the last session followed by the

league table.

Fulham downhill

I don't know what else to do with my team, I have the best players in the league but even after changing my tactics things aren't working out as well as we expected at the start of the season.

In the league we're 8th, 12 points away from 4th which means that there'll be no Champions League next season for us. We were kicked out of Fa Cup by some w'ank team and we've lost in the League Cup semis against Sheffield Wednesday on away goals. Champions League is a disappointment too, we didn't qualify to the quarter finals after some poor performances in Phase 2.

I tell you, heads will roll at the end of the season. icon_mad.gif

Btw John, what happened to you? icon_confused.gif

Hi guys,

Sorry I havent been around lately, but i recently moved and have had trouble getting my computer working icon_mad.gif

Unfortunately I am currently using a premium rate phone line so I cannot play at the moment, however I am hoping to get my connection sorted out in maybe 2 weeks time. So hopefully I'll see you then.

It's a shame to see my title chalenge fade away, and eybrows are raised as I know I was gonna win this year icon_wink.gif

My own online future is looking a bit precarious right now. The fan on my computer nearly cacked it there and still sounds a little dodgy, so if I don't turn up for any sessions in the near future you know what the problem is icon_wink.gif

No txt files emailed this once because since there's only a couple of games left until the end of the season, I was thinking that we all could make our updates after next session, ok guys?

Btw, well done Steve. icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif
