CardiffDragon
LIsvane Panthers - Invasion of England I have been struggling to really get into a long term save in FM22. Tried a youth only save taking a welsh teaminto Europe but after ten or so seasons got frustrated at TNS dominance. I do like to stay within the welsh set up so i thought i would try this one and starting as low as i could find (England level 11) i would insert a welsh team into the English pyramid and see how it went. But what team to choose? Lisvane panthers is one of the largest (by members) clubs in wales with over 600 players, it is based in the northern suburbs of Cardiff, the downside it is a youth only club. So i thought what if as a club they decided to promote throught the ranks and take on the English. The closest leagues to where they are based Are Gloucestershire or Somerset and i didnt want them having to cross the Severn Bridge for every game so Gloucestershire it was. I took over a club already there and apart from changing the locations and the country it was based i left the editor alone. I wanted to make it as immersive as possible, as a youth club the teams tend to not be based in one particular pitch but travel all over cardiff so i decided to use the pitch that a senoir local club already use within the game Lisvane/llanishen. As you can tell from the name, "Village Field" it is a State of the art, multi-thousand seater stadium, i thought i would include a picture to show how good it is.... Now we all know that although it is amazing at many things stadiums are not the top of the things that spring to mind. I started playing the game and saw a four sided, roofed behemoth of a stadium which was not good enough. So i downloaded the only stadium editor i could find and took it back to the most basic level i could, lost the roof and three of the stadium sides, not the best but a car park and open wasteland is a step forward in my eyes.... The other thing i have done is used Zealands Newgen facepack to give my team faces, as you can see we are starting with a very basic direct tactic and seeing how it develops from there.. So here we go..... i might have to see if i can change the picture of the stadium as i think i might do my head in...

CardiffDragon
Lisvane Panthers End of season 21/22 Review This was a learning curve indeed, the tactic that we started with, a direct counterattacking system, did not work, we could not score and the space in midfield killed us with the opposition sitting there and picking out passes to the forwards and we could not score in even slightly tough games sp after a rethink we shored up the middle and returned to an old favourite of mnie the classic 442 The next mistakes i made were financial - school-boy errors - forgot to reduce the scouting package to none and hence had to pay the first months costs of £3,000, a huge amount at this league. I also forgot to put control of coaches courses to myself and next thing i know i have lost another £3000 for my Assistant manager to get his Continental A licence. However if this keeps him at the club longer then it might very well be a good trade off, how he was interested in signing for me i have no idea but i actually bit his hand off trying to sign him.. He is almost singlehandedly running our training at the moment. Youth intake preview Not the straight A's i was hoping for, but at this level if they can run in a straight line then they are rocketed into the first team. but when they arrive..... They all have massive potential but with the poor training facilities how much and how long it is going to take them to improve we shall see. Results of the season We did well considering that we were predicted to finish 15th and the board wanted us to finish in the top half, and the Cup, well what can i say..... Attacking wise we went on a goal spree and were rock solid in defence but our pass completion rate is lower than the average, hopefully that will be better this season not having to learn a new tactic half way through. I hope so as the boards expectation is for us to go up as league champions!! Improvements made Managed to improve youth recruitment to basic and youth facilities to basic as well, making the most of not having to pay wages at the moment. Lets just hope the maintainance does nto cripple our progress next season. Onwards and upwards!
CardiffDragon
Lisvane Panthers End of season Review 22/23 Well the first shock of the season we have been moved from Gloucestershire to Somerset, it does mean more than a few trips across the Severn Bridge but at least there are no tolls anymore! Also there are no cups this year in this league so we can concentrate on the league, which is good as the board expects us to go up in first place. Like i thought we lost our amazing assistant manager very early in the season which effected our trainning quite a lot but the board agreed for me to go on a coaching course (Continental C) so hopefully long term it will still be OK. Sticking with our tactics from last year as the team have slowly started to improve their roles in the areas. Youth Intake Not the best intake but still saying it could be a golden generation, just showing how bad my players are to start with. Overall a better starting position than last year but they will take some time to improve to a level where we can play them first team. Results of the Season Well we did it, firnished top of the league with a healthy lead. Our performance has improved somewhat but our tackles and passes are still not upto scratch. But it definately a case of winnning by scoring more goals than we are letting in. Improvements made It has been a big year on improvements with both recruitment and youth coaching being improved and at the end of the season the club announced that they were imporving our youth level to 4 although as it is costing us £18k a year it is going to cut into profits a lot . But the biggest news and possibly the biggest issue is going to be the fact we have turned semi pro this season, so finances are goign to be right up in the air. CardiffDragon
Lisvane Panthers season review 23/24 Semi pro -- different ball game altogether, we lost three of our starting team before the season started, nothing i could do, they wanted to sign non contract agreements and then fled to the highest bidder -- traitors!! My staff are still the same ones that came with me from amateur and are not wanting new contracts - yet though i think next season will be different. Seasons expectations were for us to finish 4th but the board expectations were for us to finish in the top half. We had two cups to play this season FA Vase (1st qualifying round) and Bluefin Challange cup ( Semi final) Youth Intake We had potential to strengthen our midfield but having lost out only good keeper and our second striker this was not the best intake for us..... and then...... finally all those improvements we have been making to recruitment and cjunior coaching started to pay off Though only age 15, five of these players jumped straight into our first team for the last few games of the season which helped us out as suspensions and injuries were begining to bite. I have to think for next season as our midfield is now the core of our team do we change our formation or not. Results of the season Back to back promotions!!!! and a great run in the FA Vase meant this was a great season and more investment was made into the youth structure for next year. Once again our ability to score goals especially our golden boot Ryan Highfield for the third season in a row lead us to the top. And i have managed to keep him for another season!!! Hopefully our strengthened midfield will improvement our passing and tackling % as well next season Improvements made Success meant we begged and grovelled and got improvements for our youth intake again this year, we are way ahead of our rivals now but training facilities are still a big issue, still being poor and no matter what we do the board are not allowing us to improve them yet. I am also studying for further coaching quals - I am going to do an extra post on here to show some of the players from the youth intake and improvements being made as i have hit the maximum media allowed...
