Total Football & Juego de Posición. 10 Variations

If posted a couple threads on here with some Total Football tactics.

I started out created Rinus Michels &  Johan Cruyff tactics but have gone on to look at other tactics they have inspired and have been creating those tactics as well.

Once you know how to create a fluid system like this the rest is just variations.

For those unfamiliar with the term total football, here is Tifo's take on it.

This has been posted in a previous thread so can get a more detailed write up there.

Rinus Michels 433

The first of my total football tactics, Inspired by Ajax team manged by Rinus Michels of late 60s/early 70's.

Johan Cruyff 343

Inspired by Barcelona team of late 80s/early 90s

Louis van Gaal 343

From there a just made a variation which is more similar to the 94-95 Ajax team managed my Louis van Gaal.

ten Hag 4231

Again, a different shape but principle are the same as before.

Inspired by the 18-19 season, cant get de Jong to role on FM so settled for Regista

 

Pep Guardiola

At Barcelona people called it Tiki-Taka or Juego de Posición

but its essentially Total Football

Here is two variations of one tactic. Its inspired by when Eto'o was a striker and Messi on the right.

In the first I based it when Keita and Maxwell where playing, the second is when Iniesta and Abidal Played

Next i went with when Messi became the forward. Same set up again with the CM and LB roles.

Then in peps last season he used a 343 a lot which is Similar to Cruyff's 343

 

I didn't feel a long explanation was needed as most people are familiar with total football. You can spend hours reading or watching videos about it.

There Fun to play with, you could easily use them as a template to make your own variations. Just think about how the individual mentality of each player and who is occupying what space.
