[FM15] Unleashed In The East

So I've been browsing this Career Update for quite a while so I decided to post my career finally

As you can probably tell by the name I'm starting in the East....Eastern Europe. I will be starting my career with Hradec Králové of the Synot Liga. I've spend quite a bit of time on holiday in this region in a town called Trutnov and so chose Hradec as my team to follow.

Leagues Selected

FC Hradec Králové is a Czech football club based in the city of Hradec Králové. The club, which was founded in 1905, won the Czechoslovak First League on their first appearance in the top flight in the 1959–60 season. The club currently plays in the Czech First League.

Following their domestic success, Hradec played in the 1960–61 European Cup and was eliminated by FC Barcelona in the quarterfinals, Barcelona eventually becoming runners-up. In 1995 Hradec won the Czech Cup and subsequently played in the Cup Winners' Cup, where it was eliminated in the round of 16 by FC Dynamo Moscow. In the 2002/03 season they were relegated to the Second Division. They returned to the top flight in 2009/10 only to be relegated once more in 2012/13; however they would place second in the 2. Liga signifying a return to the top division for the 2014/15 season.

I already played a couple of seasons when FM 15 first came out, my first season as hot relegation favourites I steered the club with no money to 4th and Europa League play-offs. The clubs highest ever finish in real life is 8th. Now whilst I would love to replicate this 4th place again, my aim on this save will be to stay in the first division. I'd like to build my managerial skills up and slowly work my way to managing a couple of big clubs in Europe.

I currently have a Continental A License with Sunday League Experience

Board Expectations

Synot Liga - Avoid Relegation

Pohár České pošty - 4th Round

Transfer Budget - €267k / Wage Budget - €92.7k

These are the two tactics I usually interchange with

Tactics_OverviewOverview_zps36fcef25.pngTactics_OverviewOverview-3_zpsb9c8f72c.png

As 5-6 players had already been signed before I became manager the only transfer I made in the window so far is AMR Jan Schulmeister from Sigma Olomouc

I always let my assistant take control of pre-season....it was disappointing to say the least, but onwards and upwards toward the league

pre-season_zps09d62fab.png

It's getting late here in OZ, so will update from the season in the morning

Hope you enjoy my career

Na zdraví!

July/August

fchklogo1_zps7cc5cb9d.png

Only 1 game was played in July to start the Synot Liga and that was against Mladá Boleslav. My two key strikers Pavel Dvorak and David Venecek were both out injured for this game. Started with my 4-4-2 formation and things didn't get off to a great start with Mladá scoring a stunner from 30yards in the 8th minute. My striker Malinsky then hit the crossbar in the 23rd minute. But from the corner in the 32nd minute Chleboun rose up and slammed the header into the back of the net. 1-1. We conceded 2 quick goals before Krajak scored a volley outside the box right on half time. We couldn't stop them scoring after half time and Malinsky bought us to within 1 goal but we succumbed to a 4-3 loss at home to start the season.

Next up was Banik Ostrava away and a change of formation to a 4-1-4-1 DM Wide. It was a close game with few chances for both sides before my winger Pavel Sultes scored from a free kick from 25 yards to give us a 1-0 win in the 93rd minute. Brilliant result.

The next game at home to Teplice we once again showed defensive frailties by conceding 4 in a 4-2 loss. Two days later we hammered Zlicin 3-0 in the Pohár České pošty, hardly a suprise but a confidence boost nonetheless.

We then had a bore 0-0 draw with Bohemians 1905 away before getting a narrow 1-0 win at home to Brno. Our RB Plasil nailing it from the spot. Dvorak hit the post about 3 times too.

I have been trying to sign CB's but it is difficult with not many players wanting to come to Hradec choosing other bigger Czech clubs instead. But I finally signed one CB Slavko Brekelo from Široki Brijeg. He goes straight into the squad for the final game of August against Jablonec away.

Wasn't his best of debut's his missed tackle led to the opening goal for Jablonec, they were too good for us, we fell 3-1.

September

September started out with an easy 3rd round clash in the Czech cup against Orlova. I mostly had a reserve squad for this game...and I was up 4-0 by half time. The final score was 5-1 with David Vanecek finally scoring for us with a brace. Vanecek continued his form in the next game scoring a hat-trick against České Budějovice in a 6-3 win at home. Twice we had to come back from a goal down at 2-2 before our attack ran loose in the second half. Our defence was poor at times and two of the goals we conceded should never have happened, but it was a big win so I was still ecstatic with the win.

Next up was Dukla Praha away...it would be the sign of our day as we were already 2-0 down after 15 minutes. Vanecek pulled one back but we were always fighting a losing battle finishing in a 4-1 defeat. We faced Slovacko in the fourth round of the Pohár České pošty with the first leg away. It was a fairly even affair before we were finally pulled down in the box. Dvorak slammed it home in the 58th minute to give us the all important away goal in the first leg. The second leg will be played next month.

Final game of the month was another away game against Slavia Praha. Vanecek scored a beautiful goal before half time in the 39th minute. A costly error from our keeper Koupek in the second half...he ran out of his box cleared the ball straight to a Slavia player on the half-way line, in which we vollied it straight into goal to tie it at 1-1. We didn't seem to recover from this error and Slavia scored a second soon after. We never managed and equaliser so final score was 2-1.

Horrible, horrible month for us. Didn't win a game and got thumped by Sparta Praha.

We looked promising in the league game against Slovan Liberec and we led most of the game. But once again our leaky defence cost us and Slovan equallised in the 80th minute, so we had to settle for the point. Slovan were our opponents again 10 days later in the cup. After taking a slender 1-0 lead from the away game I was quietly confident we could hold on to at least a draw and advance to the 5th round. Dvorak gave us the lead before half time, before Liberec equalised early in the second half. It was very much a stalemate in the second half until Liberec scored from the corner in the 78th minute. We have conceded so many late goals this season, we never recovered from the goal and Liberec advanced on away goals.

SpartaPrahavHradecKraacuteloveacute_OverviewOverview_zpsc290e4b0.png

Whilst I never expected us to beat Sparta, our defence was just ripped apart by them. They only had 18 shots on goal but they were just clinical in their finishing. And suprisingly, we were only 2-0 down at half time. In the end Sparta are just a far superior team. After being demoralised by Sparta our next game was at home to the league leaders Plzen. Things didn't get off to a great start as they scored in the second minute. But from then on we more than held our own, they had 28 shots but our defence held firm, we also had a few chances to level the scores but couldn't put our chances away.

A much better display but we have still gone 5 games without a win. Hopefully November will improve with results.

November

fchklogo1_zps7cc5cb9d.png

Perfect start to the month with a 3-1 home win over Slovácko to end our 5 games without a win. Vanecek got us off to a brilliant start with a goal after 15 minutes. Slovácko equalized before Vanecek slammed home another from the corner in the 42nd minute. He completed the hatrick in the second half to give Hradec a much needed win.

Next up was Příbram, and I was hoping for another win as they were second last. But a horrible first half meant we were 2-0 down at HT. I changed formation in the second half and it worked. Plasil scored a penalty in the 48th minute before Chleboun scored from a corner in the 56th. We sustained the pressure the rest of the match but just couldn't find that 3rd goal, final score 2-2.

A poor result against Jihlava followed, apart from a Sultes screamer of a free kick we were outclassed and fell 4-1.

We finished the month with another away game to 4th placed Mladá Boleslav. Very even game with few chances, it finished 0-0 and I'm pretty happy with that

Plzen won the game they played and are now 7pts clear at the top

I swear we have been cursed by injuries this season, at one stage we had 11 out. Everytime one player comes back from injury another goes down and takes his place.

Synotliga_StatsInjuryTable-2_zpsb0782a09.png

The best thing is it is now the mid season break for the Synot Liga and season doesn't return until the first week of February. I'll be shipping a couple of players out in the transfer window and hopefully bring a couple more in on free's or loans...

fchklogo1_zps7cc5cb9d.png

During the winter break not much happened with the club.

I signed another CB Egert on loan from Slovan Liberec. Brekalo started of ok for us but the last few games were woeful.

Only other signing was a free transfer first week of March on a free

Wellington - A 20 year old AMC from Brazil. Needed a specialised player in that role and he fit the bill.

Slavia Praha also tried to sign my leading striker Vanecek for €425k which I politely declined. No way was I letting my leading scorer go when trying to avoid relegation.

January Friendlies

Well our mid season friendlies couldn't have been worse for my club....look at these scores.

friendly_zps06e03c00.png

February/March

The season resumed with an away trip to 3rd placed Teplice. The only February fixture. Since the break I changed to a 4-2-3-1 formation counter attacking. It got off to a perfect start as Malinsky scored in the 8th minute. However the lead did not last long as Teplice equalised 15 minutes later. We went in level at half time before Halilovic scored a beauty from the edge of the box to give us back the lead. We then rode out the tide of Teplice attack to hold on for a very big win. Our new CB Egert was a rock at the back alongside Chleboun.

We hosted bottom Ostrava in the next game which was also the debut of our new AMC Wellington. And what a debut it was, his passing sliced the Ostrava defence on many occasions before we finally got the breakthrough in the second half. Vanecek scored from a corner in the 93rd minute to give us our first back to back league wins this season and breathing space away from relegation.

Another home game against Bohemians 1905 should have continued our form but we were 2-0 down by HT. Sultes scored just after the break and we battered their goal the rest of the match, just couldn't put it away.

However, the following game we were back to form as we annihilated Brno 5-1 away..my best result this season. My attack was just unstopable with Wellington again having a blinder, as did Sultes, 4 goals in 3 games now. Only bad news was I lost both Malinsky and Venecek to injury in this game. 3 wins in 4 this month, and we were sitting comfortably in mid table.

Final game of the month was against České Budějovice away. At the start of February they were bottom, but since the break have gone on a run, including beating Sparta Praha. Their form continued as they dominated us finishing 3-1 winners. Sultes scored again though so 5 goals in 4 for him.

April

Forgot to mention in my previous update, Wellington also was injured after the Brno game and is out for 4 weeks......so the injures continue

We faced Jablonec at home to start the month, nothing to much of note, was a very boring game and finished 0-0. Next game was at home against Dukla Praha. We got 1 or 2 shots on goal in the entire game, we were on the backfoot the entire match and reflected in the scoreline, it finished 3-0 Dukla.

A tough game against Slovan Liberec followed. We were 2-0 down until Vanecek scored right before HT to keep us in the game. It wasn't to be, Liberec made it 4-1 before Wellington scored a beautiful goal from distance as a consolation, his first for the club.

We rounded of the month with a home game against Slavia. I thought we were heading for a loss until Jan Schulmeister levelled the scores in the 78th minute. We had a chance to win it in the dying stages but it just scraped over the bar

Very contrasting months with only 2 out of a possible 12 picked up. At least we are 9 points clear of relegation as May doesn't get any easier, facing Sparta Praha and Viktoria Plzeň in the first two matches....as long as I can keep them up, 5 games to go

May

At the start of May the Hradec board finally offered me a new 1 year contract....which I promptly signed, I'm happy to stay here another year to see what I can do.....Glad they offered it before I played the top two teams as you will see below as to why...

Fixtures

Well it got off to a miserable start at home to Sparta. We were 2-0 down after 10 minutes. A spark of hope soon followed though as Halilovic and Vanecek scored a minute apart in the 21st and 22nd minutes respectively to tie it up at 2-2. But in the end we were just not good enough and they eventually finished us off 5-2.

A record I didn't want...

Inbox_Inbox-3_zps23ba33a9.png

An away trip to Plzeň followed and we played almost as badly as we did against Sparta earlier this season. They were top for a reason and against our tiny team they put us to the sword. Final score 6-0.

All we needed at this stage was one point from the final 3 games to secure our place in the Synot Liga next season. Příbram were our visitors and I was confident I could get the job done. They were in the relegation zone at this point too. I even had a team meeting before this game to try and improve morale it was that bad. The game was very tense and our players were very nervy. Both teams had chances and it looked like finishing 0-0 until Halilovic got it in the box, the shot deflected off the keeper and into the net in the 83rd minute. Scrappy win but I'll take it. Ended our 7 game losing streak and we have survived the drop.

A new Hradec record was broken in this match....but finally a good one...

Inbox_Inbox-5_zpsbfbc3e65.png

Vrabec is a DM and played very well picking up a 7.1 rating on his debut.

Slovacko away was next and they are just above relegation. IT WAS AN EPIC. Sultes scored after just 22 seconds. 4 goals were scored in the first 10 minutes with Hradec taking a 3-1 lead into half time. However the usual scenario played out and they scored two more to finish the game 3-3.

Inbox_Inbox-6_zps40fb68f7.png

Final game was at home to Jihlava. We dominated the game from start to finish, Kopac got a double, with Vanecek and Zeleny getting on the score sheet in a 4-1 win. Great way to finish the season and we finished 10th on the ladder

Banik Ostrava won their final game to avoid relegation on the last day.

More excellent news followed with Vanecek signing a new contract

Season 2014/2015

SEASON REVIEW

Media Prediction: 15th Actual Finish: 10th

Pohár České Cup: 4th Round Actual: 4th Round

Pretty happy with my first season in charge, avoided relegation comfortably in the end. It was very tough managing this team as we had the lowest budget in the league being such a small club. We also had the worst defense in the league shipping 67 goals this season. We scored the Biggest Overachievers award in the Czech First Division though.

Inbox_Inbox-9_zps1111930f.png

We also got the award for the worst signing of the season with Brekalo....He was terrible second half of the year.

Player of the Season: DavidVanecek_OverviewProfile_zps101878e7.png"]David Vanecek - By far and away my best player. Scored 17 goals (15 in the league) and his goals were probably the main reason we stayed up. Glad he re-signed.

Next season, I'm hoping to get some decent defenders in, get rid of my deadwood and build a team that compete much better. I have quite a few decent youth players that I would like to play more next season.

Onwards to season 2...

Season 2015/16 - Hradec Králové

Media Prediction: 11th

Pohár České Cup Board Expectation: 4th Round

Transfers

Was given a €1.2 million wage budget but only €23k transfer, so I re-adjusted it so I could get some players in. I also re-signed Egert to another 12 month loan

Transfers_TransferHistory_zpsc8c0421a.png

Signed up 2 new CB's and a few more attacking players, including Sykora a winger from Sparta Praha. Prokes had been a problem for me all last season, always skipped training but never accepted any transfer offers that were made to him. So he wouldn't try and disrupt my squad again I offered him mutual termination which he took.

With the retirement of Rolko and Kulic, I needed a new captain. I offered the captaincy to last season's signing JanSchulmeister_OverviewProfile_zps4c4a0418.png"]Jan Schulmeister.

The contract of my Assistant Coach and a couple of physios ran out too...so I signed new ones and added more scouts.

Pre-Season

pre-season_zps0945b4fc.png

We also beat Austria Wien 3-2.

July/August

Couldn't have had a better fixture draw than starting the season at home to newly promoted Znojmo. Dominated the match from start to finish, Vanecek scored a double and our new CB Stochl scored from the corner to give us a 3-0 and a clean sheet. We played away to Banik Ostrava next. Another new CB Blazquez scored to put us 1-0 up, but Banik scored 2 to defeat us.

Next home game against Teplice we played like we did in the opening match. Schulmeister opened the scoring in the 25th minute and from their it was mostly a mid-field battle with majority of shots coming from Hradec. Krajak scored a brace in the 92nd and 93rd minutes to give us another 3-0 win and another clean sheet. It was Krajak's first game as he either played reserves or was on loan last season.

We demolished Litomerice in the second round of the Czech cup, mostly played by our reserves and youngsters. We won 5-0.

Brno were the next visitors and they took the lead in the 25th minute. Jan Schulmeister put us back to 1-1 up after 33 minutes. Brno had one of their players sent of in the second half after receiving a second yellow. From their we battered their goal until Voltr (another reserve from last season) slammed home a beautiful Schulmeister cross in the 78th minute to give us the 2-1 win. Our final game of the month was away to Bohemians 1905. I was terrible in this same fixture last season and that continued again. They ran out 2-0 winners.

Table

Synotliga_OverviewStages_zps8c334a17.png

All in all I'm pretty happy with my start to the season. 2 clean sheets in the league so far and the squad seems much more solid than last. Sparta are also struggling so far this season.

September/October/November

First up in September was a third round Pohár České Cup game at home to Táborsko. I rotated again playing mostly reserves and 15 year old youth. It was an easy game and Stochl and Schulmeister gave us the win putting us 2-0 up before HT and that's the way it stayed. České Budějovice were next at home, and for another season relegation favourites. It was a tight game that could have gone either way, but we did what we had to do and won 2-1. Sykora scored his first league goal for us and Schulmeister scored again. The fourth round of the cup would bring a stern test in Jihlava over 2 legs. We seem to struggle every time we play them. However, my fears were unfounded as we dominated the game from start to finish, Halilovic, Kalouda, Schulmeister and Krajak scored the goals in a first leg win at home to put us in a commanding position for the second leg. Final game in September was away to the other promoted side Sigma Olomouc. It would be our captain Schulmeister's first game against his former club. It was a tight game, Olomouc took the lead before Hradec equalised in the 24th minute. Vanecek scored a beautiful winner late on in the match to give us a 2-1 win.

goalmonth1_zps756df0b0.png

Shocking month in October, very tough games but only managed 2 league goals in 4 games. Had a narrow loss to Dukla Praha, they scored early, but dominated we were lucky to only lose 1-0. Second leg of the cup was next, as we had such a big lead I played mostly reserves. 1-0 loss on the day, but 4-2 aggregate win to put us into the quarter finals. Frustrating game at home to Slavia followed, they scored early, before Schulmeister tied it up in the 27th minute. We were the far better team the rest of the match but just couldn't put it away, 1-1 FT. We then suffered two heavy away defeats to both Liberec 4-1 and Plzen 3-0.

End of November I got offered a 2 year contract extension which I signed

HRcontract_zpsbd597e4f.png

November was a tough start as we faced Sparta Praha at home. What can I say though....total opposite to last season, we played magnificently. We even had a few chances to win after their midfielder was sent off, it wasn't to be, but we held them to a 0-0 result, our first ever point against them. From that game we had a perfect month. We beat Jihlava again at home, Vanecek and Krajak scoring both goals, our goalkeeper Kuciak now back to back games without conceding. Mladá Boleslav was up next away. Another tough game but once again we were solid at the back to hold strong Vanecek scored 2 goals in 3 minutes and we won 2-1. Our final game before the mid season break was against bottom side Znojmo. We weren't at our best but we did enough to hold on and win 2-1. Voltr getting a double including the winner in stoppage time. Finished November unbeaten.

January Friendlies

friendl_zps5771d0a2.png

Continued our form and won all our friendlies in January. I was happy with my current squad so no players were bought in, no one left either

February/March

We resumed the season in February having lost nothing of our form from November. We once again dominated in attack at home to Banik Ostrava. Kopac and Vanecek both scored and Ostrava scored an own goal in the 89th minute. Our defence pairing of Stochl and Chleboun have been solid as rocks, much better in defense this season with our players.

We played Teplice away next, was a very entertaining game back and forth. We lead after 2 minutes thanks to a Stipek goal before they scored goals either side of the half and take a 2-1 lead. They looked like taking the win until our AMC Ouedraogo scored a beauty to steal the draw 2-2.

Got this record too

hrrec_zps66b01d46.png

First game at home was at home to Bohemians 1905. After playing so well it was frustrating to see us play so poor. Couldn't hold the ball or even get forward. They lead 1-0 in the first half and looked like winning the game until Blazquez scored a late equaliser in the 80th minute. Next up was an even harder challenge, playing at home to the suprise league leaders Jablonec. However, a sending off for Jablonec in just the 9th minute gave us a big break. From that point we tore them apart and they could do nothing to stop our waves of attack. Zeleny scored, Stochl got a brace and Chleboun scored as we routed the league leaders with a 4-1 win. 8 GAMES UNBEATEN!!!!!!!!

jablonec_zps09ba18f5.png

The run finally came to an end in the very next game. A woeful performance against Brno away and we finally fell 2-1. Ouedraogo scored our only goal.

We finished the month with the Pohár České Cup quarter final first leg away to second division side Vlašim. I played a mix of reserves and first teamers. We managed to get the 1-1 draw Voltr scoring. I was confident in finishing them off in the second leg at home

Finally got this too

Inbox_Inbox-7_zps41dd986f.png

April/May

We faced České Budějovice away and comfortably beat them 3-0, Vanecek with the double. Dukla Praha then came to Hradec. Dukla seem to be a real bogey team for me, I have yet to ever beat them, this run continued as they beat us 1-0. The second leg of the cup was next at home to Vlašim. We only won 1-0 with a Vanecek goal in the 68th minute, but we played a very rotated squad and they didn't get one shot on target. OFF TO THE SEMIS

A shocking performance followed in a 2-0 loss to Slavia Praha. We never got going and were down 1-0 early. We never fully recovered and deserved to lose. Much improvement came at home to Sigma Olomouc with Sykora getting a double and Wellington capping off a 3-0 win in style. We got lucky with the Pohár České Cup semi final draw by getting another second division side in FK Viktoria Žižkov. First leg was away and with fixtures piling up I used reserves. I played for a draw, Krajak firing us into the lead before the opposition got the draw. Again wasn't worried, believed we could make the final off the home leg.

Another poor display at home to Liberec almost ended in another defeat before our captain Schulmeister managed to salvage a draw for us in the 89th minute. This was followed up with a thrashing by Sparta Praha. I couldn't emulate my form against them from earlier in the season and we lost 5-0.

We easily reached the Czech cup final with a 3-0 win in the second leg over FK Viktoria Žižkov. Vanecek scored after just 3 minutes, Stipek scored just before HT to give us a 2-0 lead. Vanecek put it beyond doubt in the 72nd minute by thundering home a penalty to make it 3-0. INCREDIBLE. We made the cup final.

However, this will be our opponent.

final_zpsad6e0d56.png

We continued our fine form against Jihlava beating them once again, Schulmeister scoring from the spot in the 63 minute for a narrow 1-0 win. Our cup final opponents were next at home, 6 days before the final. This would be a test to see how well we ccould play against them in the final. I've been battered every time I play them. I was shocked when we stole the early lead. Zeleny scored from outside the box to put us 1-0 up after 17 minutes. They managed to level it up but had a player sent off early in the second half. The game turned in our favour. As much as we huffed and puffed we just couldn't get a second. But our performance was top class and proud of the way the boys fought. I will get to what happened in the final next, but after the cup final, our final game was away to Boleslav. Wasn't worried about the result, we were guaranteed 7th on the ladder. And Europa league due to Plzen already having qualified via second place.

Biggest surprise, Jablonec won the Synot Liga by 3 points

EXSTATIC. Won the cup. We played better against Plzen than the last game. We again set the tone with an early goal, Vanecek scoring after 6 minutes. We were the better side with more chances. However, a dubious penalty call against Holes in the second half gave Plzen an equaliser early in the second half. It was a tense game from there. It looked like heading to extra time until Schulmeister got the ball in the box, slid between two defenders and slammed it away to put us 2-1 up. We held our nerve and celebrated a 2-1 victory at the

Hradec Králové

Season 2015/2016

SEASON REVIEW

Media Prediction: 11th Actual Finish: 7th

Pohár České Cup: 4th Round Actual: WINNERS

Performed above and beyond this season. I was considered untouchable by the board as we far exceeded all expectations in the league and the cup. I guided Hradec to their highest ever finish in the league. Much better in the transfer window. My aim was to stop the barrage of goals we conceded last season and we succeeded. Conceding 27 less goals than the previous season. The cup run, whilst not being the toughest, was a great reward. And to outplay and beat Plzen in the final was a highlight.

Players of the Season

Schulmeister - The captain and winger. Played even better for us this season and was often the deciding factor in both the league and cup. Scored 10 goals too.

Ouedraogo - played as both AMC and MC. Only scored 2 goals but was an instrumental part of our attack. His runs and passing moves through the middle and to the wingers set up many of our goals.

Stochl - Our new CB and rock at the back. He really helped change our defense into a more solid unit and was pretty much the first name on the team sheet. Bagged a couple goals too.

Well I've completed two full seasons at Hradec Králové but I feel I've taken them as far as I can and want a new challenge. I will be leaving them in a great position. The board however, really wanted me to stay....

hkdecline_zpsc4160c8f.png

I declined the offer and applied for jobs.

I got interviewed by recently relegated Kaiserslautern from the Bundesliga, Royal Antwerp who had just been promoted to Belgium's top flight and Pécs from the Hungarian OTP Bank Liga

History

Pécsi Mecsek Football Club, commonly referred to as Pécsi MFC or simply PMFC, is a professional Hungarian football club based in Pécs, Baranya, that plays in the OTP Bank Liga, the Hungarian First Division. The club was established on 16 February 1973 by the merger of five other clubs of the city, Pécsi Dózsa, Pécsi Ércbányász SC, Pécsi Helyiipari SK, Pécsi Bányász and Pécsi Építők.

Pécsi MFC's home ground is the Stadium of PMFC, also known as Stadium of Újmecsekalja, a football stadium in Uránváros. The stadium’s current capacity is 7,160, it was opened in 1955.

Pécsi MFC holds long-standing rivalries with other football clubs, most notably Komlói Bányász SK, a club based in Komló, a city near Pécs, and Kaposvári Rákóczi FC from Kaposvár.

Since its foundation in 1973, the club played most of their seasons in the first division, with twelve seasons spent in the second division. After finishing on the first place of the Western Group of the second division in 2011, the club was promoted to the highest level of professional league.

July/August

Ferencváros were up first and despite going in 1-1 at HT they were too dominant, scoring another 3 as they beat us 4-1. My home debut was a much better success as we beat Siófok 4-2. Kovari and Csiki put us 2-0 up early before Siófok came back to tie 2-2. Csiki and Wittredi, my two strikers both scored late to give us a 4-2 win and first for my new club.

August started with two very narrow defeats to both Haladás and MTK. The first game we were 2-1 up, they levelled and got a winner late on. Frustration in the next game as we lead again before MTK levelled before scoring a 35 yard wonder goal in the last ten minutes to win. We got back to winning ways against Nyíregyháza. Wittredi scored in the opening minute but the opposition tied it up. Looked like heading for a draw until Biro scored a beautiul volley from a Daud cross in the 91st minute. Szatmár Unió was who we faced in the Magyar Kupa first round. We easily accounted for them winning 3-0.

Dunaújváros away was the next league game and we needed another late Biro goal to steal a draw. Újpest was an end to end game with 3 penalties scored. Daud had a double and the game was 2-2 before Mohl scored the penalty to give us a 3-2 lead and eventually the win in the 69th minute.

First game of the Liga Kupa was next...I'm playing reserves for these game as I'm not concerned about this cup....We were 3-0 up before ZTE scored 2 and gave us a nervy finish.

Also of note:

The former Banik Ostrava manager took over from me at Hradec Králové. They are undefeated so far, 4 wins, 4 draws. 4th on the ladder. They had a damn tough qualifying round for Europa League too. They drew Mainz in the 3rd playoff round, beating them 1-0 in both legs.....They then drew Tottenham Hotspur in the final round. They bowed out 5-2 on Aggregate.

September

My young reserves got slaughtered by Gyirmót in the second Ligakupa game away. Poor performance but not too concerned. We then faced the bottom side Cegléd and gave them a thrashing of our own. We were 4-0 up at half-time, second half we let the foot off the pedal but still finished 5-2 winners, Csiki getting a double. The goals kept flowing in the 2nd round of the cup against Honvéd, an easy 4-1 away from home.

A tough away game to Videoton in the league was next. It was a very tense and close game with chances to both sides, before Csiki got a ball in the box on 68 minutes, kept his cool and slammed it home. We defended the final 20 and held on for a big win. Another easy cup game in the 4th round saw us hammer Soproni VSE to reach the minimum expectation this season.

Final game of the month was against surprise package Kecskemét who were currently up in 3rd. We were at home too but an early goal to them put us up against it. We couldn't find a goal in the end and missed our chance to move up to 3rd.

October/November

Another narrow home loss to Debrechen kicked off October by a 1-0 scoreline. Two league cup games then followed...firstly against Puskás Akadémia where we played out a frustrating 0-0 draw, just couldn't get anychance on target. We then easily beat Gyirmót SE 2-0 to remain second in the group. Csiki getting a brace. We finally got back to winning ways in the league as well with a 4-2 win over Diósgyőr, Csiki got a hat-trick and was unstoppable. My joy didn't last long as we lost away to Győr the following match. They scored first and we tied it 5mins later and looked like heading for a draw until a horrible defensive lapse let them through on goal to win it in the 88th minute. We had an easy win over Kecskemét in the Magyar Kupa 2-0 to advance to the quarter finals. We finished of October with a 0-0 draw against Vasas in the league.

November got of to a much better start as we hosted Puskás Akadémia. Was a tight game, twice we lead and twice they came back until Daud scored a beauty to give us the 3 points in the 88th minute. We played our final two league cup games back to back. We beat ZTE 2-1 away to secure our place in the quarter finals. Puskás Akadémia was the second game, the winner would finish top...I wasn't really concerned and fell to a narrow 1-0 loss with my reserves. The final two games of the season were heartstoppers. We played Siófok away. They took the lead in the 24th minute and looked well in control of the match. We then got a stroke of luck, they fouled us in the box, allowing Daud to score from the spot in the 51st minute and put us on level terms. It looked like finishing that way until a free kick 10 seconds from the Full time whistle. Daud put it into the top corner, 93rd minute...what a fantastic goal and to win the match. Final game before the mid season break was at home to Ferencváros. They took the lead in the 10th minute but we equalised 3 minutes later. They regained the lead, however, in the 32nd minute, HT 2-1 down....I gave them a very assertive team talk and they were a totally different team in the second half. We ripped their defense to shreds and ran out 4-2 winners.

We face Videoton in the quarter final

Was gutted, my star player Daud came and spoke to me 4 days after the Ferencváros game demanding to leave. I tried everything to get him to stay until the end of the season but said he wanted to go to Anthorisi in the Cypryot league. In the end I had no choice, he was going to complain to the players to creat unrest. His release clause was met by 5 clubs...and he chose a Saudi team instead.

Windecker followed suit a month later. Again tried to keep him, but same situation. At least I got 450k for him. Since then I have refused any other star players leaving. If they want to go they will have to wait until end of season. Struggling to find a replacement too but got a couple young guys who hopefully step up.

Also signed a Brazilian DM to replace Windecker

April - Championship 2017

My first game as Wigan boss wasn't going to be that easy. I faced West Ham at the DW stadium. It was a very nervy game, played a 4-4-2 with my DM dropped deep. Twice we lead the match and twice West Ham came back, the second an 81st minute penalty. Looked like finishing 2-2 until Nugent secured his brace and our win with a super strike. Great way to start my career with Wigan and immediate relief for now from relegation places. From then on, however, we were woeful. The squad isn't too bad but our defense is shocking. There will be a lot of work to do in the summer. We lost 3-0 away to Ipswich who are also fighting against the drop, before such salvaging a 1-1 draw against Bristol City, Nugent scoring again.

Back-to-back losses followed against both Cardiff and Watford. The penultimate game of the season was against Yeovil away. All we needed was 2 points to guarantee avoiding the drop.....of course we could only draw. It was topsy turvey, we lead 1-0, then 2-1 before Yeovil took a 3-2 lead. We tied it up early in the second but couldn't get a winner

It will come down to the final game of the season...

Frustration, with my team as well, as they have given away a penalty in 4 of the 6 games so far, bloody annoyed

April - Championship Final Day 2017

Bolton due to their goal difference are already down, so it will be between Wigan, Ipswich and Derby as to who takes the final relegation spot.

Scores

Derby 1 - 3 Brentford

Wolves 2 - 1 Ipswich

Wigan 3 - 2 Fulham

Well, turned out I didn't need to worry about my final game as both teams below me lost. Stoked we won though, massive confidence boost, Boyce giving us a late winner from the corner.

The hard work begins now we have survived. Wigan don't have much money so I will have to look at loans and frees and try and make us competitive next season.

My aim this season is lower mid table. Few signings and I think we can achieve this. However, there is not much money in the club so its going to be another tough season I Believe. I need to get the financial situation under control.

wigan2017budget_zpsa8bb6ad2.png

As you can see not much to spend. But in the off-season I released players who were on stupid wages for the Championship and made $1.6 million Euro for Rhys Williams.

Wigan - Championship - August 2017/18

Started the season very poorly with a 3-1 loss to Brentford. After going 1-0 down we tied it but we were never really in the game and deserved to lose. Our struggles continued in the Capital One cup, we took an early lead against League One Port Vale until they equalised with 10 minutes to go. It took a late extra time Nugent goal to give us a win and send us to the second round. The first home game was at Watford and did didn't take long for us to make it hard for ourselves as we had a sending off after 25 minutes. Despite this, we managed to take the lead twice, before Watford came back and drew the game 2-2. If we had 11 on the pitch think we would have won, quite pissed off. A trip to the Stadium of Light was next against newly relegated Sunderland. We were dreadful and fully deserved the 4-0 flogging. A home game against Ipswich was the last championship game to round out March, and as fellow relegation strugglers I was hoping for a timely win. But alas we could only muster a draw. Second round of the Capital One cup we faced Premier League side Hull. Once again we copped a hiding, bowing out with a 6-1 loss.

Our defense is a shambles

Wigan - Championship - September 2017/18

First game of the month was at home to Huddersfield. It was all going perfect and we were 4-1 up early in the second half, but once again our defense failed us, Huddersfield rallied and drew level. Game finished 4-4. We then had back-to-back away losses, 2-1 against West Ham and 2-0 to Fulham. Both strong teams so wasn't expecting to win either game. We were now 7 games into the season with no wins.

However, we hosted Stoke in the next game and finally got a break. Twice we lead and twice we allowed stupid goals that should have easily been stopped. But in the final 10 minutes we took the lead for a third time, this time we hung on to record a 3-2 victory. Much needed and morale boosting. Newly relegated West Brom were our last opponent of the month, away. They had been struggling and were 14th. We managed to pull off a huge upset, 2-0 up, they scored one but once again we held on. Finally, back-to-back wins for the first time under my reign.

Wigan - Championship - October 2017/18

Perfect start to the month. We faced Millwall at home and made it 3 straight wins. We lead 4-0, but as per our defense started conceding but nevermind, 5-3 win and we are on 12 points. Our run was finally ended the following week against Birmingham. Once again we were woeful in defense and couldn't deal with them. We lost 3-1. Our defense is worse than the titanic

Fixtures

After this game West Brom sacked their manager. Although I haven't been at Wigan long I feel it would be a big step up, even though they are 20th and currently below Wigan. But after relegation from the Prem last season they have a very good squad and money. I'm going to apply and see what happens. If I get it I actually want to stick with them for a few years and move them up in the EPL and slowly build a decent team

WBA - Championship - October/November 2017/18

Perfect start as manager of West Brom. Went in at HT 0-0 with Wolves in the Black Country derby, but in the second half we kicked into gear, scoring 3 unanswered goals. Our 18 year old Freer made his debut and scored the final goal. We didn't have such luck in the next derby against Aston Villa. Another promising 18 year old Harry Adam gave us the early lead, but Villa were just too strong, getting a penalty before half time and scoring two goals after. My home debut couldn't have started better, 5-0 up over Charlton after 33 minutes. Dorrans and Pelle both getting braces. We seemed to think that the game was over after that and allowed them to score 3 for a nervy finish. A very much improved defensive effort lead to a clean sheet over Barnsley, with Lescott scoring the only goal with a header in the 45th minute.

Brentford away was an end to end match. We lead 2-1 before they scored two in 3 minutes. Dorrans saved us in the 86th minute to give WBA a 3-3 draw. Tough trip to table topping Sunderland was next. Was not expecting a result here, and despite Pelle giving us the lead after 4 minutes, Sunderland are a far superior team, final score 3-1. Watford was a very tough match, the bottom team and perhaps we should have been better. We finally took the lead in the 91st minute thanks to a beautiful goal from Berahino to save us and a 4-3 win.

WBA - Championship - December 2017/18

Undefeated in December. MY tactics and players are really kicking into gear now and even the matches we have been poor, we have found a way to at least draw.

Our leaky defense was brought to a holt with a 1-0 win over Ipswich. We dominated the game but couldn't hit the target, Dorrans scoring the only goal. Big result over West Ham away, Slimani, and Carrick - scoring a rare goal - put us 2-0 up at HT. West Ham scored in the 68th minute but our defense held firm from there. The next two games Huddersfield at home, Fulham away were poor. Our 18 year old Harry Adams saving us on both occasions, both games ended 1-1. Stoke have struggled this season and it showed, we scored 4 goals after HT, Chamakh getting a brace before they scored a consolation late on, FT 4-1. A big 2-0 win away to Cardiff, with Dorrans and Chamakh scoring in the first 20 minutes. It rounded off a perfect month and we are now 7 games unbeaten.

Our form continued in January with a convincing 3-1 win over Millwall, our new signing Meleg, a winger from Ajax scored on his debut after 9 minutes. He was injured later in the match, out for 4-6 weeks. DAMNNNNN. We hosted Arsenal in the FA Cup. All 3 goals coming in a 7 minute period in the first half. WBA actually played very well and we were unlucky not to draw the game, Arsenal knocking us out 2-1. After going 8 games unbeaten in the league it was finally ended with a loss away to Birmingham. We were atrocious and deserved to lose 2-0. We were back to winning ways against Sheffield Wednesday, our captain Yacob scoring a penalty in the 61st minute, and another clean sheet. Should have beaten Bristol City to finish the month, they scored an own goal in the first half before leveling in the second.

WBA - Championship - February 2017/18

February started with a bang, Berahino getting a brilliant hat-trick in a 4-0 demolition over Brighton away. We had a second clean sheet in the next match with a comfortable 2-0 win over Reading. It was the first of 3 straight home games. Relegation strugglers Yeovil were next. We made a perfect start and went into half time thanks to goals from Colkett, another youngster, and Dorrans. However, Yeovil scored 2 goals in two minutes to tie it up. Eventually our superiority shined through, Berahino scored in the 76th minute, and Babel scored his first for us in the 89th minute. FT 4-2.

Leeds were then the visitors. Much of the match was a stalemate until Yacob scored in the 70th minute. However, we conceded 2 minutes later, until a penalty to Dorrans gave us a lucky 2-1 win in the 86th minute. I made a return to the DW Stadium and my former club Wigan hoping for a win. Wigan have been just above or in the relegation zone since I left. But we were shocking. We took the lead with a Wigan own goal before they leveled just before half time. We barely made any chances after the break, finishing with a frustrating 1-1 draw. Rotherham away was the same story, they lead after an own goal from us and it took a superb solo effort from Dorrans to give us a 1-1 draw in the 91st minute.
