Game start date (Advanced rules)

When setting up a national league structure using the advanced rules I found I wasn't getting a long enough pre-season for my liking so I upped the number of "pre-season days" or whatever it's called in the nation settings and all that happens is that my team now plays a couple of friendlies before the game start date. I don't mind that so much but I would have liked to be at the club from the start of pre-season. Is there a setting I can change to affect this? Thanks in advance.
