Oceanic Qualifying Group Stage

Papua New Guinea v New Zealand

New Zealand grabbed the lead in the 10th minute as C.Wood fired in from outside the area after beating his marker to the ball. Just after the half hour it was two nil as C.Wood added another goal with a powerfully struck effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving. The second half was all New Zealand and on the 73rd minute they added goal number three as C.Killen headed in from close range after jumping above the Guinea defence with ease

South American Qualifying Group Stage

Argentina v Venezuela

Venezuela took an early lead as on the 4th minute S.Rondon beat the offside trap and fired past the Argentinean keeper. Five minutes later though Argentina were level on points as J.Mascherano headed in from a powerful cross to give the keeper no chance of saving. The second half was fourteen minutes old when Argentina grabbed the lead as L.Messi jinked into the area and fired past the diving keeper. On the 62nd minute the home side extended there lead as E.Garay headed in from close range. Argentina were looking comfortable now and with three minutes remaining in the game G.Higuain curled in a brilliant freekick from just outside the area

Bolivia v Ecuador

An entertaining game saw the sides share five goals. It took till the 27th minute for the first goal to be scored as M.Morena fired in a vicious low shot past the keeper to give Bolivia the lead. Five minutes later it was two nil as P.Escobar headed in over the Ecuadorian keeper. The second half was three minutes old when Ecuador grabbed a goal back as C.Benitez hit a powerful effort past the keeper from outside the area. On the 52nd minute the away side were level as F.Caicedo ran through the defence and hit the ball in off the upright. Six minutes later Ecuador completed a great comeback to make it 3-2 and grab all three points with C.Bieler doing the honours

Chile v Paraguay

Chile started the better and on the 15th minute they went into the lead as G.Medel barged through the defence with ease and fired under the Paraguay keeper. Straight from kick off the Chilean attack intercepted the ball and A.Sanchez fired in from just outside the area. On the 25th minute though Chile were reduced to ten men after I.Fuentus was sent off for a rash challenge in defence. Eleven minutes into the second half Paraguay pulled a goal back with a well worked team move which saw L.Barrios firing in off the upright. Paraguay tried there best to get back into the game but failed to break through the Chilean defence

Peru v Uruguay

Peru’s game plan was ruined with two minutes after A.Sanchez was sent off for a silly challenge. Uruguay started to pile forward however for all there pressure they couldn’t score in the first half. The second half was five minutes old when L.Suarez hit a wonderful effort past the Peruvian keeper from just outside the area. On the 70th minute it was two nil as D.Forlan jinked into the area and slotted in past the keeper. Eight minutes later Peru pulled a goal back as M.Mostto rose highest to head in past the Uruguay keeper. With two minutes remaining in the game Uruguay killed the game off with L.Suarez doing the honours from the edge of the area

October 16th 2012: North American 3rd Qualifying Group Phase

Cuba v Honduras: Group 1

Cuba started well and on the 6th minute they took the lead as A.Abreu ran into the area and fired an unstoppable effort past the Honduran keeper. However on the 23rd minute the away side grabbed the equaliser as D.Suazo jinked into the area and slotted in under the onrushing Cuban keeper. Seven minutes into the second half Honduras grabbed the lead as L.Ramos barged through the defence and fired in off the upright. Cuba weren’t getting much of the ball in the second half and on the 77th minute Honduras put the game beyond them as E.Izaguirre headed in over the Cuban keeper to guarantee them the three points

Trinidad & Tobago v Panama: Group 1

Trinidad struggled to get going and on the 12th minute Panama grabbed the lead as F.Baloy ran through the defence and fired under the keeper with ease. Just after the half hour Trinidad fired in the equaliser as S.John powered into the area with ball and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. A minute into the second half Trinidad grabbed the lead as K.Jones hit the ball in off the crossbar from just outside the area after the Panama team failed to pick his run up. Trinidad continued to dominate and on the 68th minute they made the game safe as K.Manswell headed the ball with power the keeper.

Costa Rica v Barbados: Group 2

Costa Rica dominated the game but it took them till the 34th minute to open the scoring as C.Borges curled the ball in past the keeper who stood no chance of saving it. Nine minutes later it was 2-0 as C.Borges fired in his second of the game after beating the offside trap with ease. The second half was much the same and on the 74th minute W.Parks made it 3-0 with a well struck effort, however four minutes later Costa Rica seemed to relax too much and R.Mealor fired in but it was too little too late for Barbados

El Salvador v Mexico: Group 2

Nine minutes into the game M.Flores grabbed the lead for the home side with a well worked move which saw him dinking the ball over the Mexican keeper. With five minutes remaining in the half Mexico were awarded a penalty after a foul in the area, G.dos Santos stepped up and fired the ball with power into the top corner. The second half was all Mexico and on the 63rd minute they grabbed the three points as E.Torres jinked into the area and rounded the keeper to fire into the empty net.

Canada v Haiti: Group 3

Canada made light work of Haiti and on the 8th minute they took the lead as S.Jackson bravely headed in a low cross to give the keeper of saving. Canada continued to dominate but failed to add to there tally in the first half. The second half was much the same and on the 55th minute J.Hoillett curled the ball high into the top of net. Fifteen minutes later they completed the scoring as W.Johnson ran through the Haiti defence with ease and fainted the keeper the wrong way to tap the ball into the empty net

USA v Jamaica: Group 3

The first half was pretty quiet in truth with both teams seemingly feeling each other out but just before the half hour USA grabbed the lead as C.Casey headed in a looping cross. The second half was more exciting and six minutes into the second half R.Findley headed in past the Jamaican keeper. On the 53rd minute C.Dempsey made it three nil with a well struck freekick from 25 yards. Eleven minutes later Jamaica pulled a goal back as R.Gardner ran into the area unmarked and fired past the American keeper.

Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage:

UAE v North Korea: Group A

There was little in the way of action as such with neither team making much headway into the opposition area. With two minutes remaining in the half though North Korea grabbed the lead with J.Tae-Se doing the honours with a well struck volley. The second half wasn’t much better with little in the way of football being played

Uzbekistan v Qatar: Group A

Qatar were gifted the early lead as I.A.Mohammed fired in from the penalty spot on the 16th minute after a silly challenge saw Uzbekistan concede the spot kick. Three minutes later though Uzbekistan equalised as S.Jeparov barged through the defence and fired in low under the keeper. Two minutes into the second half the home side grabbed the lead as U.Baqoev headed in past the keeper. On the 55th minute Uzbekistan grabbed the final goal as O.Ahmodov curled the ball brilliantly from 25 yards after he was fouled in the build up

Saudi Arabi grabbed an early lead as on the 2nd minute V.Al-Qahtani used his strength to beat the defence and fire past the despairing keeper. Eleven minutes later they made it 2-0 with A.Al-Mazooq doing the honours from the edge of the area after breaking free of his marker. Just after the half hour Iraq pulled a goal back as R.Saad jinked into the area and rounded the keeper to slot the ball into the empty net. Eight minutes into the second half Saudi Arabia killed the game off as V.Al-Qahtani grabbed his second of the game and Saudi Arabia’s third

Kuwait v South Korea: Group B

A flying start saw South Korea grab the lead within a minute with a well struck effort from K.Sung-Yong. However on the 4th minute Kuwait equalised as M.Al-Shammari headed in bravely past the keeper. On the 26th minute though South Korea retook the lead as P.Chu-Young sprinted onto a great pass to fire under the Kuwaiti keeper. The second half was twelve minutes old when Kuwait again equalised from the penalty after a handball, A.Al-Nassar did the honours from the penalty spot. On the 64th minute South Korea again retook the lead as L.Chung-Yong fired in a low effort into the bottom corner of the net. Five minutes later South Korea made sure of the three points with P.Chu-Young grabbing his second of the game and the away sides fourth goal

October 17th 2012: European Qualifying Group Stage Part One

Belgium v Wales: Group 1

Wales never really got going and Belgium dominated much of the game. However despite there domination they failed to open there account for the day. The second half though was a lot better and within five minutes of the restart M.Fellaini sent them into the lead with a rasping effort past the keeper. On the 65th minute Belgium were reduced to ten men after J.Vertonghen was sent off for a second yellow card. However a minute later Belgium grabbed the second of the game with M.Fellaini again scoring a powerful effort which gave the Welsh keeper no chance of saving. A real bad day at the office for Wales

FYR Macedonia v Croatia: Group 1

Croatia grabbed an early lead as on the 5th minute M.Badelj ran through the defence with ease and fired past the Macedonian keeper. They continued to control the game and on the 32nd minute I.Olic made it two nil for the Croats with a well struck effort which gave the Macedonian keeper no chance of saving. The second half was again all Croatia but the away side failed to add to there tally and had to settle with a 2-0 victory

Serbia v Scotland: Group 1

Another bad day for the Scottish as they struggled to cope with the Serbian team and with a minute remaining in the first half the Serbs grabbed the lead as G.Kacar headed in from a tight angle. The second half was much the same with Serbia dominating and on the 71st minute they killed the game off with Captain N.Vidic doing the honours with a fine header past the Scottish keeper. With five minute remaining in the game Scotland were reduced to ten men after G.Caldwell was sent off a second yellow card.

Bulgaria v Czech Republic: Group 2

Bulgaria were given an early boost as B.Georgiev fired in from the penalty spot after a Czech Republic defender handled in the area. Just before the half hour Czech Republic grabbed the equaliser as M.Fenin headed in over the Bulgarian keeper after some woeful defending. The second half was pretty open and on the 59th minute Czech Republic went into the lead as V.Kadlec fired in an unstoppable effort from outside the area. A minute later though Bulgaria levelled the tie with S.Todorov heading a bullet of a header from six yards. On the 61st minute though Bulgaria were reduced to ten men after A.Popov was sent off for a very high challenge on the Czech defence. With eleven minutes remaining in the game Bulgaria were reduced to nine men after V.Gadzhev was sent off for a second yellow card. On the 82nd minute Czech Republic made the numeral difference pay as M.Fenin grabbed his second of the game and the winner for the away side

Denmark v Malta: Group 2

Denmark controlled the game with ease and within three minutes they took the lead as T.Enevoldsen headed in over the Malta keeper to send the home fans wild. On the 13th minute it was two nil N.Pedersen curled the ball in off the upright after running in from the wing. With nine minutes remaining in the half Malta pulled a goal back as D.Bogdanovic ran through the Danish defence and slid the ball under the keeper. On the 42nd minute Denmark regained there regained the two goal advantage with a well struck effort by K.Ilso. A minute into the second half W.Kvist added another goal for Denmark with a brave header from close range after the Maltese defence failed to notice his run. With ten minutes remaining in the game Denmark made it 5-1 as N.B.Nielsen beat the offside trap and fired in under the keeper. On the stroke of half time Denmark completed the rout with N.B.Nielsen headed past the keeper from close range

They continued to dominate without breaking a sweat and nine minutes into the second half Italy doubled the lead with S.Giovinco rounding the keeper and slotting into the empty net

European Qualifying Group Stage: Part Two

Faroe Islands v Austria: Group 3

Austria started well and on the 17th minute they took the lead as D.Alaba fired in a great effort from just inside the area. Austria controlled much of the game however they failed to grab any further goals in the first half. The second half was much the same with Austria dominating but they just couldn’t add to there tally and with thirteen minutes remaining in the game they paid for there inability to score as R.Hansen headed in over the Austrian keeper to give them a share of the points.

Kazakhstan v Ireland: Group 3

Ireland controlled the first half and just before the half hour they grabbed the lead as K.Doyle headed in past the keeper from close range after the Kazakhstan keeper flapped at a simple cross. With eight minutes remaining in the half they doubled the lead as K.Doyle hit a wonderful effort from the edge of the area. The second half was four minutes old when Kazakhstan pulled a goal back as Y.Syzdykov barged through the defence and fired past the Irish keeper. Just after the hour Kazakhstan levelled the game with H.Schmidtgal heading past the Irish keeper to complete a great comeback.

Sweden v Germany: Group 3

Sweden began well and on the 22nd minute they took the lead as V.Elm hit a curling effort in off the upright after jinking in from the wing. Seven minutes later Germany equalised the game with A.Stark running into the area with ease and fired past the Swedish keeper with ease. With eight minutes remaining in the half Germany took the lead as D.Gebauer headed in past the keeper after the Swedish defence failed to deal with a simple cross. The second half was very tight and neither team managed to make any sort of inroads into the area.

Estonia v Hungary: Group 4

Hungary were the better team in the first half and on the 16th minute they took the lead as D.Tozser curled the ball in past the keeper from just inside the area. They continued to dominate the Estonian side however they couldn’t grab the second goal they needed. The second half was pretty much the same but on the 74th minute Estonia grabbed a share of the points with P.Meerits doing the honours from six yards after the Hungarian defence failed to deal with a simple ball.

Holland v Turkey: Group 4

Holland made the game look easy as they outplayed Turkey throughout the game. On the 8th minute they took the lead as W.Sneijder jinked in from the wing and beat the keeper at a tight angle. Thirteen minutes later J.Lens made it two nil with a well struck effort which gave the Turkish keeper no chance of saving. Turkey never really got near the ball however Holland failed to add to there tally and had to settle with a two nil victory when in truth they should of put a cricket score past them

Romania v Andorra: Group 4

Five minutes into the game Romania grabbed the lead as F.Costea headed in past the Andorran keeper. Romania carried on piling forward and on the 37th minute R.Rat added a second goal for the home side. Two minutes into the second half though Romania were reduced to ten men after D.Goian was sent off for a second yellow card, from the resulting freekick J.Rodriguez fired in past the Romanian keeper. On the 54th minute Romania add goal number three as D.Niculae barged into the area and fired under the keeper. Two minutes later though Andorra pulled a goal back as J.Merino headed in from close after some poor defending. On the 70th minute Andorra levelled the game with B.Bernabeu hitting an unstoppable effort from just inside the area to give Andorra a share of the points

European Qualifying Group Stage: Part Three

Albania v Slovenia: Group 5

A pretty even game with both teams playing some great football and on the 21st minute Slovenia grabbed the lead as T.Matavz headed in from close range after jumping higher than the Albanian defence. The game continued to be back and forth and on the 47th minute the next goal was scored as B.Jokic gave Slovenia a second goal. Three minutes later Albania pulled a goal back as F.Toski hit home from the penalty spot after a harsh penalty was given by the referee.

Iceland v Cyprus: Group 5

Thirteen minutes into the game Cyprus grabbed the lead as K.Charalabidis struck home from 20 yards after running free in from the wings. On the 19th minute though Iceland equalised as A.Gunnarsson fired in from inside the area after beating the offside trap. Three minutes later it was 2-1 Iceland as E.Gudjohnsen did the honours with a brave low header which gave the Cypriot keeper no chance of saving. Cyprus reacted well though as straight from kick off S.Aloneftis grabbed the ball and ran through defence to dink the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net. The second half was pretty dull in truth compared to the first but with twelve minutes remaining the winning goal was scored as E.Gudjohnsen fired in his second and Iceland’s third of the day

Another tight game with neither team really making a forward effort but on the half hour Switzerland scored via the penalty spot after a foul was called in the area. The second half wasn’t much better with little action but on the 87th minute Norway equalised with a great piece of team play which saw R.Y.Jenssen free on goal to score

As expected Israel controlled the game and on the 8th minute they went into the lead as G.Vermut fired in from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area. Soon after they scored again with E.Barda showing some great skill to beat his marker and fire under the keeper. The second half was three minutes old when Israel were reduced to ten men after B.Kayal was sent off for a second yellow card. Israel still continued to dominate and with five minutes remaining in the game Israel added another goal as E.Zahavi fired in off the post.

Portugal made light work of Azerbaijan and on the 14th minute they took the lead as Danny ran in from the wing to fire over the keeper and into the back of the net. Twelve minutes later they made it 2-0 with Danny doing the honours again. Portugal were controlling the game but it took them till late in the second half to grab another goal with Edinho running into the area unmarked and firing past the Azerbaijan keeper

Bosnia & Herz v Lithuania: Group 7

Bosnia were the better team and on the 14th minute they took the lead as E.Dzeko ran through the defence with ease and fired past the Lithuanian keeper. Bosnia carried on piling forward and on the 40th minute they added another goal with S.Ibricic headed over the keeper and into the back of the net. The second half wasn’t particularly brilliant and with two minutes remaining in the game Bosnia were reduced to ten men after E.Spahic was sent off for a second yellow card

A really dire game in truth with not much in the way of attacking football. Slovenia were by far the better side and on the 6th minute they grabbed the lead as P.Pekarik headed in past the keeper. The game started slowly but on the 37th minute it sprung into life as Montenegro took the lead with a thunderous effort from P.Grbic from the edge of the area. On the stroke of half time Montenegro added there third goal with M.Vucinic headed in from close range after some poor San Marino defending. England started well as W.Rooney used his strength to get through the defence and fire under the Ukraine keeper. A minute into the second half though saw Ukraine grab the equaliser with A.Yarmolenko firing an unstoppable effort past the keeper. Ukraine upped the gears and on the 66th minute they added another goal with A.Milevskyi headed in past the keeper with ease. With eleven minutes remaining in the game Ukraine added another goal as A.Yarmolenko ran onto a great ball to fire with power past the English keeper.

October 17th 2012: South American Qualifying Group Stage

Argentina v Bolivia

Argentina started brilliantly as L.Messi jinked into the area and set G.Higuain up to fire past the keeper. On the 10th minute it was two nil as L.Messi hit a curling freekick past the keeper from 25 yards after being brought down on the way to goal. Ten minutes later L.Messi made it two goals for him and three for Argentina with a well struck effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving. Argentina were in complete control but failed to add to there tally during the remaining seventy minutes, but they really should have put double figures past a very poor Bolivian side

Ecuador were the better side by far and on the 20th minute they opened the scoring with C.Benitez doing the honours from the edge of the area after beating the high offside trap. On the 64th minute though Ecuador retook the lead as J.Montero jinked through the defence to hit home under the keeper. Seven minutes later it was 3-1 as C.Lara bravely headed in from under the diving keeper. On the 83rd minute the final goal of the game was scored as W.Ayovi fired in for Ecuador to give them a convincing 4-1 victory

Ten minutes into the game Uruguay grabbed the lead as L.Suarez showed some great skill to beat his marker and fire past the keeper. On the 61st minute Uruguay finally grabbed another goal as N.Lodeiro hit home from the edge of the area after running in from the wing. Four minutes later though Colombia pulled a goal back as the Uruguayan keeper flapped at a simple cross and D.Quintero slotted in from close range. The goal seemed to light a fire up the asses of the Colombian players and on the 77th minute they grabbed the equaliser as F.Uribe fired in to give the away side a share of the points.

November 14th 2012: Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage

Japan v North Korea: Group A

Fourteen minutes into the game Japan were reduced to ten men after D.Nagai was sent off for professional foul. North Korea though didn’t take advantage of there extra player and with ten minute remaining in the first half Japan grabbed the lead as R.Shimizu headed in from a looping cross which evaded the keeper. Two minutes into the second half R.Shimizu grabbed another goal with a well struck effort which gave the Korean keeper no chance of saving. On the 54th minute Japan were three goals to the good as R.Shimizu headed in his hattrick after some moor poor Korean defending saw him free in the area to head in. With three minutes remaining in the game Japan made it 4-0 with R.Shimizu getting another goal to cap a great game for him off

Qatar started the better with a lot of great attacking football, however they just couldn’t break through a very good UAE defence. Qatar tried in vain to level the tie but just couldn’t break down the defence

The game took awhile to get going with the first attack coming on the 34th minute as M.Jafari fired in for the Iranians after running into the area unmarked. The second half was quite open and on the 70th minute Iran doubled there lead as A.Dejagah headed in a high cross. Straight from kick off though Iraq pulled a goal back as R.Saad jinked into the area and rounded the keeper to slot home into the empty net.

Saudi Arabia swept aside the home side with ease and on the 33rd minute they started the rout as M.Mouath unleashed a great effort past the Kuwaiti keeper. Four minutes later they doubled there lead as A.R.Al-Qahtawi beat the offside trap and slotted in under the onrushing keeper with ease. The second half saw the Saudis piling forward and on the 74th minute they added another goal as M.Mouath headed in with a thunderous header. With nine minutes remaining in the game Kuwait gave there fans something to shout about as S.Al-Faylakawi beat his marker to slot home past the keeper. On the 84th minute though M.Mouath completed his hattrick with a long range effort to give the Kuwaiti keeper no chance of saving. November 17th 2012: Oceanic Qualifying Group Stage

New Zealand v Vanuatu

New Zealand started well and on the 6th minute they grabbed the lead as C.Wood barged into the area and fired under the keeper. However after the goal New Zealand seemed to relax and failed to add to there tally in the first half. The second half though was seven minutes old when New Zealand doubled there lead as J.Tozer ran through the defence and fired under the onrushing keeper. On the 54th minute C.Wood added a second goal to his tally with a well struck effort from the edge of the area. Straight from kick off New Zealand intercepted the ball and C.Wood completed his hattrick with a powerful header which gave the keeper no chance of saving. On the 59th minute they made it 5-0 with C.Killen running in from the wing and curled the ball in off the upright to give the home side a convincing victory

South American Qualifying Group Stage

Chile controlled the majority of the game with a lot of attacking play. On the half hour they grabbed the lead as F.Meneses ran through the Venezuelan defence to fire past the keeper. The second half was much the same and ten minutes into the half Chile doubled there lead as A.Sanchez headed in from a deep cross. On the 63rd minute Chile were reduced to ten men after C.Maldonado was sent off for a second yellow card. February 13th 2012: North American 4th Phase Group Stage

Costa Rica v Jamaica

Costa Rica were reduced to ten men on the second minute as B.Ruiz brought down the Jamaican attacker for a professional foul. However on the 19th minute the home side took the lead as W.Parks hit an unstoppable effort past the keeper from just outside the area. Just after the half hour it was two nil as W.Parks hit his second of the game. The second half saw the Jamaican players actually start playing. Costa Rica weren’t getting anything from the ball and with eleven minutes remaining in the game Jamaica pulled a goal back as S.Ebanks-Blake ran through the defence and slotted under the keeper. On the 86th minute Jamaica levelled the tie as S.Ebanks-Blake headed in past the Costa Rican keeper

Jamaica began well and on the 10th minute they went into the lead as K.Daley ran through the defence and fired under the keeper with ease. Eight minutes later Honduras grabbed the equaliser as O.Garcia headed in over the Jamaican keeper after he misjudged a cross. On the 21st minute Jamaica were reduced to ten men after K.Henry was sent off for a second yellow card. The second half was all Jamaica and on the 72nd minute they took the lead as L.Shelton curled the ball in off the upright from the edge of the area. With ten minutes remaining in the game Jamaica grabbed a third goal as C.Fagan barged through the defence and fired under the onrushing keeper

March 26th 2013: Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage

Qatar v Japan: Group A

A brilliant game for the fans with a real show of attacking end to end football. On the 7th minute Japan grabbed the lead as N.Suzuki showed a great turn of pace to beat his marker and fired under the keeper. Soon after Qatar levelled the game as A.Mohammed barged through the Japanese defence to slid the ball under the keeper. With seven minutes remaining in the first half D.Morimoto gave Japan the lead again with a powerful effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving. The second half was much the same and on the 59th minute Qatar again levelled the tie with A.Mohammed grabbing his second of the game. Two minutes later though Japan were awarded a penalty and M.Morimoto fired in the effort to give Japan all three points.

The game started slowly with little in the way of action but a minute before the halftime interval Kuwait grabbed the lead as A.Al-Enezi headed in from close range after some poor Iranian goalkeeping. The second half was alittle more exciting and on the 59th minute Kuwait doubled the lead as F.Enad barged into the area and rounded the keeper to tap the ball into the empty net. Cape Verde Islands v Burkino Faso: Group 1

Nine minutes into the game Burkino Faso were reduced to ten men after B.Zoundi was sent of for a two footed lunge. Cape Verde took full advantage and on the 36th minute they grabbed the lead as W.Cardoso ran through the defence with ease and slotted in under the keeper. Five minutes later it was two nil as Cafu hit a wonderful effort from the edge of the area to give the keeper no chance of saving. The second half was all Cape Verde and on the 72nd minute they headed the final goal in as Cafu rose above the defence and headed in over the keeper

Ten minutes later it was 2-1 as S.Xulu rose above the defence to send his powerful header over the keeper. Nine minutes later though Algeria retook the lead as R.Boudeboux headed over the diving Benin keeper. Eight minutes into the game Libya took the lead as M.Mutalib ran through the defence and fired in under the keeper. On the 12th minute Guinea levelled the tie and L.Deibis headed in from close range after some poor defending. Eleven minutes later Guinea took the lead as R.Bodipo fired in a powerful effort from outside the area to give the Libyan keeper no chance of saving. On the 28th minute though Libya levelled the tie with E.El Bira doing the honours from close range after the Guinea keeper flapped at a simple effort. The second half was three minutes old when the winning goal was scored as M.Mutalib curled the ball in from outside the area after running in the wing

African Qualifying 2nd Round Group Stage: Part Two

Gambia v Cameroon: Group 5

A surprisingly close game with Gambia giving as good as they got. On the 35th minute they opened the scoring with M.Jarju showing some great skill to beat the Cameroon defence and wasted no time in firing past the keeper. Seven minutes into the second half Cameroon grabbed the equaliser as S.Eto’o jinked into the area and rounded the keeper to slide the ball into the empty net. Both sides piled forward but neither side could grab the winning goal

Sierra Leone v Sudan: Group 5

An entertaining game for the fans with some great attacking football and on the 27th minute the first goal was scored as M.Bangura beat the offside trap and fired in under the onrushing keeper. Two minutes later Sudan equalised as K.El Shigali headed in from close range after beating the defence to the high ball. With four minutes remaining in the half Sierra Leone retook the lead as M.Bangura fired in his second of the game from the outside the area after the midfield failed to deal with his run. Seven minutes into the second half Sudan were back on level terms with a fine strike from S.Yabio after ghosting into the area unmarked. Both sides kept on piling forward and on the 73rd minute the winning goal was scored as M.Bangura fired in his hattrick to give Sierra Leone all three points

Another entertaining game and on the 20th minute Gabon took the lead via a well struck volley from R.Meye. Eight minutes later Egypt equalised as A.Zaki used his strength to beat the defence and dropped his shoulder to send the keeper the wrong way. With nine minutes remaining in the half Gabon retook the lead as E.Mouloungui rose above the defence to head in a freekick. The second half was much the same with a lot of attacking football but it took till a minute from time for the only goal of the half to be scored as M.Zidan jinked into the area and fired with power past the Gabon keeper to give Egypt a share of the points

Togo v Kenya: Group 6

Togo completely dominated the game and on the 2nd minute they took the lead as S.Gakpe curled the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net. On the 21st minute it was two nil as R.Boukari showed a great turn of pace to beat the defence and wasted no time in dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper. Nine minutes later Togo added another goal as K.Lalawele bravely headed in a low cross to give the Kenyan defence no chance of saving. Five minutes into the second half they grabbed yet another goal as A.G.Marnah had great vision to see the keeper off his line and lobbed the ball over the keeper. On the hour Togo completed the rout with R.Boukari firing his second of the game to give Togo a very convincing win

Tunisia controlled the game with ease but it took the referee to give them a penalty on the 40th minute after a handball in the area. Six minutes into the second half Tunisia added a second goal as S.Allagui barged through the defence and fired the ball under the Mozambique keeper. On the 70th minute it was three nil as S.Allagui completed his hattrick with a well struck effort from just outside the area. With four minutes remaining in the game Tunisia completed the rout as C.B.Saada headed in from under the crossbar after some woeful defending

Burundi v Nigeria: Group 8

Four minutes into the game Nigeria took the lead as O.Martins ran through the defence and fired under the keeper. However after the goal the first half died a death as neither side managed to string more than a couple of passes together. Ten minutes into the second half Nigeria grabbed a second goal as L.Haruna jinked into the area and slotted the ball under the onrushing keeper. On the 68th minute it was three nil as A.Ujah rose above the Burundi defence to head in powerful cross. Six minutes later Nigeria scored the final goal as V.Obinna beat the offside trap and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper

The first half was in truth pretty dire with little in the way action apart from on the 16th minute when Niger took the lead as M.Maazou barged into the area and fired past the keeper. The second half was a lot better and within four minutes of the restart Mali grabbed the equaliser as G.Dembele headed in from close range after some poor defending. On the 64th minute Mali took the lead as S.Diarra jinked into the area and hit the ball in off the upright. Straight from the kick off Mali added another goal as M.Maiga beat the offside trap and dinked the ball over the keeper. On the 70th minute Mali grabbed the final goal as G.Dembele hit a wonderful freekick from just outside the area

Two minutes later Senegal doubled there lead as D.N’Doye headed in from a looping cross. The second half was a minute old when Zimbabwe pulled a goal back as K.Musona curled the ball in from the edge of the area. On the 48th minute Senegal grabbed the final goal of the game as D.N’Doye scored his second of the game.

On the 65th minute Ivory Coast were reduced to ten men after E.Eboue was sent off for a second yellow card. Croatia v Belgium: Group 1

Three minutes into the game Belgium grabbed the lead as M.Fellaini used his strength to beat the defence and fired with power past the diving keeper. Belgium continued to control the game but for all the pressure they couldn’t add a second goal. The second half was again mainly Belgium but just after the hour Croatia were literally handed a penalty, Eduardo stepped up and fired with ease past the Belgium keeper. Belgium upped the gears and carried on dominating but again there lack of finishing cost them all three points

The away side took the early lead and on the 7th minute I.Naumoski headed in past the Serbian keeper after rising above the defence. After the goal Serbia started to play and on the 22nd minute they grabbed the equaliser as Cleo jinked past the defence and fired past the keeper. Ten minutes later though Macedonia retook the lead as A.Alimi curled a wonderful effort past the keeper to give him no chance of saving. With two minutes remaining in the half Macedonia were reduced to ten men after G.Popov was sent off for a high challenge. The second half was five minutes old when Serbia headed in past the M.Sulejmani headed in over the keeper for the equaliser. Bulgaria were by far the better team and on the 26th minute they took the lead as S.Delev fired in from close range after jinking into the area. With six minutes remaining in the game Armenia grabbed an unlikely equaliser as S.Papikyan headed in from six yards after beating the Bulgarian defence to the ball. However on the 89th minute Bulgaria got the three points they deserved as D.Madureira hit home from just inside the area

Malta never really got going and on the 3rd minute V.Kadlec hit a wonderful effort from just outside the area. Three minutes later it was two nil as V.Kadlec again fired in from distance after jinking in from the wing. On the 14th minute V.Kadlec completed his hattrick with a brave header from a looping cross. Two minutes later T.Necid made it 4-0 with a jinking run which gave the Maltese defence the run around. The second half wasn’t as hectic but seven minutes into the half Malta pulled a goal back as D.Bogdanovic headed the ball over the Czech keeper. On the 65th minute the final goal was scored as T.Necid fired in his second of the game to give the Czech Republic a 5-1 victory

Italy started well and on the 22nd minute they took the lead as D.De Rossi hit a speculative under the diving Danish keeper. Eleven minutes later Denmark lost another goal as G.Pazzini fired in from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area. The second half saw Italy relaxing and with eleven minutes remaining in the game Denmark pulled a goal back as N.B.Nielsen headed in over the keeper after some very slack defending. Luckily for the Italians the Danes couldn’t get close to testing the Italian keeper again

A minute into the game Kazakhstan grabbed the lead as A.Abdrakhmanov hit a curling effort into the top corner of the Austrian net. The second half was again mainly dominated by the Germans but on the 64th minute Ireland pulled a goal back as J.McCarthy fired in from the edge of the area. With eleven minutes remaining in the game Ireland equalised as S.Long volleyed in from outside area after a punt upfield by the keeper. Germany tried in vein to grab the lead but there lack of finishing in the first half cost them

Andorra v Estonia: Group 4

Estonia controlled the majority of the game and on the 25th minute R.Lukjanov fired in off the upright after some good team play. Andorra never really managed to get hold of the ball and failed to get a single effort towards goal in the first half. The second half was all Estonia and just after the hour they killed the game off as A.Purje headed past the keeper with ease

Holland v Romania: Group 4

Holland dominated the first half as they kept the ball away from Romania with ease but for all there pressure they couldn’t get past the Romanian keeper. The second half saw a complete a reversal as Romania finally started to play and just after the hour they took the lead with D.Niculae heading in past the Dutch keeper. The Dutch players looked very amateurish and on the 76th minute I.Apostol grabbed Romania’s second of the game with a well struck effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving. Turkey started the better and on the 14th minute they took the lead as N.Sahin jinked into the area and dinked the ball over the diving keeper. On the 20th minute Albania retook the lead with a well struck effort from E.Kapllani after beating the offside trap. Norway had the better of the first half and on the 14th minute they took the lead as M.Abdellaoue headed in over the keeper at his near post. Russia as expected dominated the game but for all there dominance they couldn’t get past the stubborn defence. Eight minutes later Russia took the lead as A.Kerzhakov curled the ball in from just inside the area. The second half was much the same and nine minutes into the half P.Pogrebnyak head in from powerful cross. However on the 74th minute the same player was sent off for a stupid elbow on a Luxembourg player.

Portugal had the better of the first half and on the 21st minute C.Ronaldo showed some great skill to beat the Irish defence and fired past the keeper. Portugal continued to pile forward and with three minutes left in the half they added a second goal as J.Moutinho barged through the defence and fired past the keeper. The second half was all Portugal but they couldn’t get past the Irish defence. On the 74th minute though Ireland pulled a goal back as J.Ward headed past the Portuguese keeper.

Greece v Bosnia & Herz: Group 7

A real drab game with neither side managing to get more than a couple of passes strung in a row. The first half dragged along and the fans let the fans let the players know what they thought of the performance. The second half wasn’t much better but just before the hour mark B.Bajic was sent off for a second yellow card to leave Bosnia with ten men. Greece piled forward and with three minutes remaining in the game Greece grabbed the winner with D.Salpingidis doing the honours from the edge of the area.

Lithuania v Liechtenstein: Group 7

An entertaining game for the fans and on the 12th minute Lithuania took the lead as D.Guscinas headed in from close range after running into the area unmarked. On the 37th minute Lithuania retook the lead as D.Sernas barged into the area and fired past the away sides keeper. The second half was five minute old when M.Marxer pulled a goal back for Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein started to outplay the Lithuanian side but they didn’t have the quality upfront to beat the home sides keeper.

Moldova weren’t getting anything from the ball and on the 42nd minute D.Bent showed a great turn of pace to beat the defence and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. The second half was five minutes old when T.Huddlestone rose above the defence and headed past the keeper. England carried on the forward pressure and on the 88th minute J.Milner completed the rout with a curling effort from the edge of the area

North American Qualifying 4th Phase Group Stage

Costa Rica v USA

USA began the better and on the 23rd minute they took the lead as C.Dempsey fired in a brilliant freekick from 25 yards after a foul in the build up. With five minutes remaining in the half Costa Rica pulled the tie level as W.Parks jinked into the area and fired under the American keeper. On the 42nd minute though USA went back into the lead as C.Dempsey ran through the defence with ease and slotted in from close range. On the stroke of half time though a rash challenge in the area saw Costa Rica awarded a penalty which E.Touborne wasted no time in firing past the keeper. The second half was a lot quieter as neither team managed to break the defence down and they had to share the points

New Zealand v Papua New Guinea

New Zealand ended the group stage undefeated against Papua New Guinea. On the 13th minute they opened the scoring as C.Wood ran through the defence and fired past the keeper. Soon after they were two goals up as C.Wood grabbed another goal with a powerful effort from the edge of the area. New Zealand continued to pile forward in the second half however they couldn’t add to the tally.

South American Qualifying Group Stage

Chile v Bolivia

Chile controlled the game with ease and on the 5th minute H.Suazo took the lead as he beat the offside trap and fired past the keeper. Fifteen minutes later it was two nil as H.Suazo ran through the defence and curled the ball past the outstretched arms of the Bolivian keeper. The second half was again all Chile and with ten minutes remaining in the game E.Puch put Chile three goals up to give them a convincing victory

Argentina grabbed an early lead as S.Aguero hit a thunderous effort from 25 yards to give the Colombian keeper no chance of saving. Six minutes later Argentina retook the lead as S.Aguero jinked through the area with ease and rounded the keeper to power the ball cockily into the empty net. A very one sided first half with Paraguay controlling it with ease. On the 7th minute they took the lead as R.Rojas ran into the area unmarked and headed past the keeper. On the 14th minute they grabbed another goal after a foul in the area saw Paraguay awarded a penalty which J.Santana fired in with ease. Three minutes later they grabbed goal number four as O.Cardoza hit his second goal of the game past the Venezuelan keeper. After the mad opening the game quieten down. On the hour Venezuela pulled a goal back as S.Rondon rose above the Paraguay defence to head into the net. June 4th 2013: Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage

UAE v Japan: Group A

Japan got off to a great start as within two minutes they took the lead as D.Morimoto jinked into the area and fired past the UAE keeper. Japan carried on piling forward but the UAE defence managed to hold firm. The second half was much the same but it took till a minute from time for the killer goal to be scored as M.Tanabe fired in from close range after beating the offside trap

Uzbekistan were a goal up within three minutes after S.Jeparov barged into the area and fired over the onrushing keeper. Kuwait v Iraq: Group B

An entertaining game and on the 6th minute Iraq grabbed the lead as Y.Kasim unleashed a thunderbolt from 25 yards to give the Kuwaiti keeper no chance of saving. Three minutes later Kuwait equalised as E.El-Enezi jinked into the area and fired in off the upright. On the 15th minute Iraq retook the lead with a great team move which saw M.Jawad fire under the onrushing keeper. Straight from kick off Iraq intercepted the ball and Y.Mahmoud curled the ball in past the keeper. Just after the half hour M.H.Jassim made it 4-1 to Iraq with a brilliant individual effort as he ran in from the wing and rounded the keeper to fire into the empty net. The second half was a lot quieter with little in the way of attacking football but on the 73rd minute H.Al-Faylakani headed in past the Iraqi keeper.

June 5th: North American Qualifying 4th Phase Group Stage

Mexico v Honduras

The first half was pretty poor with neither team coming close to grabbing the lead. The second half wasn’t much better but on the 64th minute Honduras grabbed the lead as C.Costly ran through the defence with ease and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. Eleven minutes later though Honduras were reduced to ten men after W.Palacios was sent off for a second yellow card. Luckily for the Mexico just couldn’t hit a barn door from six yards

Trinidad controlled the first half without even breaking a sweat but they failed to open the scoring. Burkino Faso v Namibia: Group 1

Namibia grabbed the early lead as O.Risser headed in from a deep cross. Namibia continued to press forward but just couldn’t get past the Faso defence. The second half as ten minutes old when Faso grabbed the lead as B.Kere beat the offside trap to fire with power past the keeper. On the 67th minute the home side grabbed what turned out to be the winner as Y.Kebe headed in brilliantly at the near post.

Sudan started well and on the 16th minute they took the lead as S.Yabio fired in from the edge of the area. With six minutes remaining in the half Cameroon grabbed the equaliser as A.Emana headed in over the Sudanese keeper. On the 40th minute Cameroon were reduced to ten men after A.Nyom was sent off for a second yellow card. Four minutes later Cameroon grabbed the lead as M.Ndjeng fired in from inside the area after beating the offside trap. The second half saw Cameroon controlling the game with there ten men but they failed to get through the Sudan team

The first half saw both teams cancelling each other out with some pretty negative play and the fans let them know there disgust at the whistle with a chorus of boos. On the 55th minute Sierra Leone were reduced to ten men after S.Bah was sent off for a professional foul. From the resulting freekick Gambia lost the ball and T.Conteh sprinted from the halfway line to fire in for Sierra Leone. DR Congo v Nigeria: Group 8

Nigeria took the lead in the 16th minute as they broke through the Congo defence with ease and A.Ujah finished the move off with a wonderful effort. However the goal seemed to kick the Congo players in the ass and they started to play. On the 22nd minute they grabbed the equaliser as C.Makiese ran into the area and fired under the keeper. The second half was three minutes old when Congo took the lead as C.Makiadi rose above the defence and headed past the diving Nigerian keeper. Congo continued to dominate but couldn’t get through the defence and luckily for them Nigeria were surprisingly poor

The second half was much the same for Mali but on the hour Zimbabwe pulled a goal back with C.Murape doing the honours from close range. Both teams were just playing to see who can avoid finishing bottom of the group. Just after the half hour the first goal was scored as J.S.Edmundsson fired in to give the Faroe Islands the lead. The second half was very tight again and on the 67th minute Kazakhstan pulled level as A.Abdrakmanov curled the ball in off the upright to give them a share of the points.

Sweden v Ireland: Group 3

Ireland started brilliantly and on the 4th minute they took the lead as S.Long headed just over the keeper and into the back of the net. Seven minutes later it was two nil as D.Gibson curled in a great freekick after a poor challenge 20 yards out. Ireland were cruising but on the 38th minute O.Toivonen pulled a goal back with a rasping effort past the keeper. The second half was a minute old when O.Toivonen levelled the tie with his second of the game after beating the Irish defence to a loose ball. On the 65th minute Ireland were reduced to ten men after S.Coloman was sent off for a second yellow card. Sweden controlled the majority of the game after the sending off but failed to grab the winning goal

European Qualifying Group Stage: Part Two

Andorra v Hungary: Group 4

Hungary made light work of Andorra and on the second minute they took the lead as G.Rudolf headed past the keeper with ease. On the 19th minute it was two nil with K.Nemeth showing some great skill to beat his marker and round the keeper the slide the ball into the empty net. Just after the half hour Hungary added another goal as G.Rudolf grabbed his second of the game. The second half was again all Hungary but it took them till the 78th minute to grab the final goal as R.Juhasz sprinted into the area and fired under the onrushing keeper

Holland v Estonia: Group 4

Estonia surprisingly started the better and on the 29th minute they went into the lead as T.Kink beat the Dutch offside trap and fired past the keeper with ease. Two minutes later Estonia were two goals up as T.Kink again beat the defence and wasted no time in dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. On the 43rd minute Holland pulled a goal back as D.Kuyt headed in a deep cross. The second half saw Holland dominate and on 71st minute they equalised the tie as R.van Persie ran in from the wing and unleashed a curling effort past the Estonian keeper. A minute later though N.de Jong received a second yellow card and was duly sent off by the referee. On the 76th minute Holland took the lead as L. de Jong slotted home from close range after the Estonian defence seemed to fall asleep. With a minute remaining in the game L.de Jong made it 4-2 with a rasping effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving

Romania v Turkey: Group 4

Romania started the better and on the 16th minute they took the lead as L.Ganea ran through the defence and fired with ease past the keeper. Eleven minutes later though Turkey were reduced to ten men after O.Ipek was sent off for a second yellow card. The second half was seven minutes old when Romania added a second goal as L.Ganea headed in from a deep cross. On the 55th minute Turkey pulled a goal back as S.Senturk jinked through the Romanian defence and slotted in past the keeper. Five minutes later ten man Turkey levelled the score as N.Sahin barged past the Romanian defence and fired in off the upright. With nine minutes remaining in the game Romania got the winning goal as L.Ganea completed his hattrick with a thunderous effort which gave the Turkish keeper no chance of saving

The first half was dire with neither team managing to get close to the opposition goal. The second half was two minutes old when Slovenia grabbed the lead as Z.Dedic fired in from the penalty spot after a handball by the Swiss defence. After the goal though Switzerland seemed to up the gears and on the 70th minute they were awarded a penalty after a poor challenge, J.Djourou stepped up for the penalty and fired it in with ease. Four minutes later the winning goal was scored as E.Derdiyok beat the Slovenia offside trap and rounded the keeper to hit home

Azerbaijan broke the deadlock on the 14th minute as V.Azizou sprinted in from the wing and curled the ball past the keeper from the edge of the area. However it took till the 51st minute for the next goal as P.Rischard fired in for Luxembourg. Straight from kick off though Azerbaijan retook the lead as C.Hasanov headed in past the keeper. On the 63rd minute Luxembourg again equalised as P.Bonn megged his marker and fired in low into the net. A real dire game with little in the way of action but on the 21st minute Israel scored as G.Vermut barged through the defence and fired in past the Irish keeper. After the goal though the game died a death and neither side could add any further goals

Russia grabbed an early lead with R.Shirokov doing the honours from outside the area after the Portuguese team failed to deal with his run. Just before the half hour it was 2-0 as A.Kerzhakov curled the ball in from the corner of the area. The second half was again mainly dominated by Russia but on the 72nd minute C.Ronaldo fired in from a 25 yard freekick. A minute later though Portugal were reduced to ten men after Pepe was sent off for a second yellow card. With eight minutes remaining in the game Russia made it 3-1 with M.Izmailov heading in past the keeper to give Russia a convincing scoreline

Greece v Liechtenstein: Group 7

The game didn’t get off to the best of starts with the Greek side struggling to break down a very resilient Liechtenstein side. The second half was alittle better and just after the hour Liechtenstein grabbed the lead as they broke through the defence with ease and fired under the Greek keeper who was very slow to react. On the 70th minute Liechtenstein went two goals up as L.Stricker grabbed his second of the game with a well struck effort from outside the area. With five minutes remaining in the game Greece pulled a goal back with D.Papadopoulos doing the honours from just inside the area, however Greece didn’t have enough time to build from this and the home fans vented there anger at the team as they left the pitch

Slovakia were the better team by far and on the 13th minute they took the lead as E.Jendrisek hit a thunderous effort from outside the area. The second half was nine minutes old when Lithuania pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after a poor challenge in the area. San Marino took an early lead as W.Renzi showed his marker a clean pair of heels to fire in past the keeper. The second half was just as much of a struggle but with six minutes remaining in the game Moldova grabbed the equaliser as A.Goian fired in to give them a share of the points

Ukraine v Montenegro: Group 8

Montenegro started the better and on the 3rd minute they went into the lead as M.Vucinic headed in past the outstretched arms of the Ukrainian keeper. However after the goal Ukraine upped the gears and on the 17th minute they pulled level with A.Milevskyi ran into the area and volleyed in a deep cross. Just after the half hour A.Yarmolenko gave Ukraine gave them the lead with a powerful effort from outside the area. On the 36th minute Ukraine were given a penalty after a poor challenge in the area, A.Yarmolenko stepped up for the kick and sent the keeper the wrong way to score. With two minutes remaining in the half A.Yarmolenko completed his hattrick with a long range effort. The second half was alittle tighter and on the 57th minute Montenegro pulled a goal back as S.Jovetic fired in from close range after some poor defending. With six minutes remaining in the game Ukraine grabbed goal number five as A.Milevskyi headed in his second of the game at the near post.

Two minutes later S.Ramos grabbed Spain’s second with a wells truck effort. Just after the half hour F.Torres made it 3-1 with a curling effort from just inside the area. Costa Rica v Honduras

Honduras took an early lead as O.Garcia headed in past the Costa Rican keeper after arriving in the area unmarked. On the 21st minute Honduras added another goal as G.Welcome showed some great skill to beat his marker and wasted no time in firing the ball off the crossbar and into the back of the net. However after the goal the game died a death and neither side came close to scoring

Three minutes into the game D.Gordon grabbed the lead for Jamaica with a great effort. However Trinidad came back into it and on the 25th minute J.Scotland equalised the tie with a brave header from a low cross. Four minutes later Jamaica retook the lead as B.Hutchinson slotted home from close range after a great team move split open the Trinidad tram. Just after the half hour Jamaica made it 3-1 as S.Ebanks-Blake powered into the area with the ball and fired under the keeper. With eight minutes remaining in the half Trinidad pulled a goal back as K.Jones hit a great volley from a tight angle to beat the keeper at his far post. The second half was end to end football but unlike the first half there was only one goal as Trinidad equalised the game with C.Edwards curling the ball past the keeper from just inside the area

Mexico looked out of the game but with two minutes remaining in the half G.dos Santos pulled a goal back with a powerful effort which gave the USA keeper no chance of saving. The second half was twelve minutes old when J.Hernandez fired in from the penalty spot after a controversial penalty. On the hour Mexico completed the comeback as J.Hernandez jinked into the area and fired in the winning goal.

South American Qualifying Group Stage

Argentina v Paraguay

Argentina were the better team by far but it took them till the 35th minute to grab the first goal as S.Aguero jinked through the Paraguayan defence and fired under the keeper. Five minutes later they made it 2-0 with J.Mascherano heading in from close range after the keeper flapped at a simple cross. However straight from kick off Paraguay piled forward and O.Cardoza fired in from just outside the area. The second half was three minutes old when L.Messi killed the game off with a great solo effort which ripped the Paraguayan team apart

Chile gave Peru a master class in football and on the 24th minute they took the lead as H.Suazo showed the defence a clean pair of heels and fired past the keeper. With ten minutes remaining in the half Uruguay retook the lead as E.Cavani headed in from close range after some great work down the wings. June 11th 2013: Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage

Japan v Uzbekistan: Group A

An entertaining games for the fans and on the 13th minute they took the lead as U.Baqoev ran through the defence and fired under the Japanese keeper. Four minutes later Japan took the lead as Y.Ito headed over the keeper. However the Japanese joy was short lived as A.Geynrikh barged into the area and curled the ball in off the upright. The second half was just as entertaining and on the 71st minute Japan equalised as M.Hara hit a wonderful freekick from 25 yards after a foul in the build up. Seven minutes later Japan took the lead as M.Hara grabbed another goal with curling effort from the edge of the area. With a minute remaining in the game Japan killed the tie off as S.Matsumoto headed in from close range after a great cross from the wings

Saudi Arabia continued to dominate and with ten minutes remaining in the game they grabbed the final goal as A.Al-Qahtani bravely headed in past the Iraqi keeper.

Korea took an early lead as K.Chu-Young hit a thunderous effort from 25 yards after running unhindered down the middle of the pitch. Three minutes later S.Heung-Min added his second and Korea’s third with a well struck effort from the corner of the area. June 15th 2013: African Qualifying 2nd Round Group Stage: Part One

Morocco v Burkino Faso : Group 1

Two minutes into the game Morocco grabbed the lead as Y.Adnane headed in from close range after some woeful defending by the Faso team. On the 9th minute it was two nil as M.El Hamdaoui ran through the defence and fired under the Faso keeper who was very slow to react. Morocco continued to pile forward and on the 22nd minute Y.Adnane made it three nil with his second of the game. After the goal though Morocco sat back and relaxed, however they were so far in front Faso never came close

Cape Verde took an early lead as on the 7th minute Dady fired in from the edge of the area after the Namibian defence never really pressured him. With six minutes remaining in the half Namibia pulled a goal back as M.Swartz fired in from the penalty spot. The second half was all Namibia and with two minutes remaining in the game they got the equaliser they deserved with a well struck effort from A.Maseko.

Algeria opened the game brilliantly as on the 7th minute they took the lead through a great effort from A.Ghezzai. Four minutes later it was two nil as R.Boudebouz jinked into the area and curled the ball past the Guinea keeper. On the 14th minute K.Ziani made it 3-0 with a long range effort which gave the away side keeper no chance of saving. After the manic opening the game died a death with Algeria not bothering the pile forward

Mozambique v Malawi: Group 7

Mozambique took an early lead on the 11th minute as Dario beat the offside trap and fired past the onrushing keeper. With nine minutes remaining in the half Malawi equalised with a thunderous effort from outside the area after the midfield failed to deal with his run. The second half was seven old when Malawi took the lead as P.Mzava barged through the defence and fired under the keeper. Malawi were controlling the game and on the stroke of full time they added a further goal as N.Ngwira did the honours from just outside the area

Tunisia v Mauritius: Group 7

A great game for the fans and on the 5th minute the first goal was scored as M.Dieuponne headed in from close range after some woeful Tunisian defending. Thirteen minutes later Tunisia equalised the tie as Y.Mikari barged into the area and slotted in past the keeper. On the 23rd minute Tunisia took the lead as S.Allagui used his strength to get through the defence and slotted home. Nine minutes later Tunisia made it 3-1 as A.Chermiti headed in over the keeper at the near post. Straight from the kick off Mauritius pulled a goal back as N.Labonte ran through the defence and fired past the keeper. The second half was five minutes old when S.Allagui grabbed his second of the game with a simple tap in after the keeper flapped at a high cross.

Burundi v DR Congo: Group 8

Congo took the lead on the 12th minute as K.Lua Lua beat the offside trap and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. Burundi never really threatened the Congo side and on the 76th minute C.Makiese killed the tie off with a curling effort which beat the keeper at the far post. Five minutes later Congo added a third goal with C.Lucau doing the honours from just inside the area.

Nigeria v Zambia: Group 8

Nigeria dominated the game and on the 7th minute they took the lead as A.Ujah sent a vicious low effort past the keeper. On the 21st minute it was two nil as O.Martins headed in from close range after some poor defending. The second half was eight minutes O.Martins grabbed his second goal of the game with a long range effort which beat the keeper at the near post. On the 63rd minute Nigeria were four goals up as L.Haruna bravely headed in from close range. With four minutes remaining in the game V.Obinna added the final goal as barged into the area and slotted in under the keeper

Eight minutes into the game P.Cisse gave Senegal the lead with a well struck penalty after a handball in the area. The game seemed to slow up and the first half dragged by. On the 75th minute Senegal grabbed the winner as L.Badiane jinked into the area and fired past the Mali keeper.

Zimbabwe v Niger: Group 9

A great game for the fans and on the 6th minute H.Galley headed in from close range after the Zimbabwe keeper failed to deal with a simple cross. Straight from the kick off they intercepted the ball and M.Maazou doubled the away sides lead. On the 11th minute Zimbabwe pulled a goal back as K.Musona headed in over the keeper. Ten minutes later Zimbabwe equalised as K.Musona curled the ball in from outside the area. On the half hour Zimbabwe took the lead as H.Gombami barged into the area and fired past the keeper. The second half was much the same and on the 62nd minute K.Musona grabbed his hattrick as he jinked into the area and fired under the keeper. Four minutes later Niger pulled a goal back with A.Souley showed the Zimbabwe defence a clean pair heels and fired in off the upright.

Guinea v Congo: Group 10

Congo took an early lead with A.Linganzi doing the honours from the edge of the area after some great skill. On the 14th minute Guinea equalised as A.Keita intercepted a loose ball and dinked the ball over the keeper. Six minutes later K.Cisse gave Guinea the lead with a thunderous effort after running onto a great pass. On the stroke of half time Congo grabbed the final goal and a share of the points as M.Moussilou beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper to fire in past the keeper.

June 18th 2013: Asian Qualifying Final Group Stage

North Korea v UAE: Group A

Korea were the better team by far and on the 14th minute they took the lead as J.Tae-Se hit a curling effort past the UAE keeper. They controlled the game with ease but it took till the 75th minute for them to kill the game off as K.Tae-Se grabbed his second of the game with a well struck effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving

Qatar v Uzbekistan: Group A

Qatar started well and on the 10th minute they took the lead with A.T.Mohammed doing the honours from outside the area. With a minute remaining in the half they added another goal with S.Soria heading in long cross field pass past the keeper. The second half was fourteen minutes old when Qatar grabbed the final goal of the game with S.Soria curling in from just inside the corner of the area.

August 14th 2013: North American Qualifying 4th Phase Group Stage

Jamaica v Costa Rica

A really poor game for the fans with little in the way of attacking football. The majority of the play was in the midfield. The only thing of note in the game was with seven minutes remaining in the game as L.Shelton was sent off for a professional foul meaning Jamaica played out the remainder of the game with ten men

Mexico got off to a flying start as within four minute they had taken the lead through a wonderful effort from J.Hernandez. Straight from kick off O.Peralta beat the offside trap and fired Mexico into a two goal lead. The second half was ten minutes old when Trinidad pulled a goal back as J.Scotland headed past the diving Mexican keeper. Trinidad started to pile forward more but with fourteen minutes remaining in the game Mexico fired in goal number three with A.Guardado doing the honours from just inside the area.

Benin v Algeria: Group 4

Algeria controlled the first half without breaking a sweat but for all there pressure they couldn’t break the deadlock. The second half was six minutes old when Benin grabbed the lead against the run of play as J.Zounon barged into the area and fired past the Algerian keeper. Algeria upped the gears and on the 75th minute they finally grabbed the equaliser as H.Yebda headed in.

Belgium started well and on the 12th minute they took the lead as M.Suarez ran through the defence and beat the keeper at the far post. Just before the half our though Serbia pulled level with Z.Tosic curling the ball in from the edge of the area. On the 32nd minute A.Witsel put Belgium back in the lead with a brave header. Six minutes later E.Hazard jinked into the area and thundered the ball into the back of the net. The second half was pretty dire in truth with neither side making any sort of forward motion and the rest of the game was battled out in the midfield

Malta were the better side and on the 14th minute M.D’Amato grabbed the lead as he beat the offside trap and fired under the keeper. They continued to control the play and on the 53rd minute they killed the tie off as M.D’Amato headed in from close range. The rest of the game though saw a lot of midfield play but little in the way of attacking

Germany v Faroe Islands: Group 3

Germany as expected dominated the game and on the 5th minute they grabbed the lead as J.Barth headed in from close range. On the 19th minute they added another goal as O.Hartmann curled the ball in from just inside the area. Six minutes later G.Marquardt made it 3-0 after finishing a great team move. On the 28th minute D.Jager made it 4-0 after beating the offside trap and firing over the keeper and into the back of the net. The second half though saw Germany not even trying against Faroe Islands. If they had bothered Germany possibly could have gone into double figures

Ireland v Austria: Group 3

The first half was pretty dire with the game being played within the middle third of the pitch. The second half though was the complete opposite as both teams went for it. On the 62nd minute the first goal was scored as J.Walters fired in for the Irish. Seventeen minutes later though Austria pulled level as M.Janko headed past the keeper from close range. Straight from kick off J.Walters intercepted the ball and sent Ireland into the lead. With three minutes remaining in the game R.Keane added another goal for the Irish with a well struck effort from outside the area. On the stroke of full time R.Keane added his second and Irelands fourth with a curling effort which gave the Austrian keeper no chance of saving

Kazakhstan v Sweden: Group 3

Sweden dominate the game but it took them till the 42nd minute to get on the core sheet as D.Djuric headed past the keeper after running into the area unmarked. Ten minutes into the second half Sweden made it two nil with K.Kallstrom doing the honours from just inside the area. However after the goal they again seemed to struggle to get through the Kazakhstan defence

European Qualifying Group Stage: Part Two

Estonia v Romania: Group 4

Romania were the better side and on the 31st minute they took the lead as B.Stancu beat the offside trap and fired past the keeper. However three minutes later Estonia grabbed the equaliser as J.Toom headed in from close range after the Romanian defence failed to deal with a simple cross. The second half as all Romanian again however on the 73rd minute Estonia took a surprise victory with V.Andrejev doing the honours from just outside the area

Hungary v Holland: Group 4

Holland controlled the majority of the game and on the 24th minute they were a goal up as R.Boymans ran through the defence with ease and fired just under the keeper. The second half though was four minutes old when the next goal was scored as B.Dzsudzsak headed in for Hungary. Just after the hour though Holland grabbed the winner and K.Jan Huntelaar hit a powerful effort past the keeper from outside the area.

Turkey v Andorra: Group 4

The first half was pretty poor with not a lot in the way of football. The second half was alittle better and within two minutes of the restart Turkey took the lead as S.Senturk curled the ball around the keeper and into the back of the net. With ten minutes remaining in the game Turkey killed the game off as M.Ekici jinked through the defence and rounded the keeper to slot home into the empty net

Albania v Switzerland: Group 5

Switzerland took and early lead as within nine minutes T.Barnetta headed in past the Albanian keeper. They carried on piling forward and on the 26th minute they added another goal with V.Stocker curling the ball in from just outside the area. However three minutes later Albania grabbed a goal back with H.Salihi barging into the defence and firing past the keeper. On the 48th minute Albania completed the comeback as A.Meha hit a thunderous effort past the keeper.

Norway v Iceland: Group 5

A very tight game with both teams virtually cancelling each other out. On the 23rd minute Norway took the lead as T.Elyounoussi headed in from close range after running into the area unmarked. The game pretty much died off after that but on the 64th minute Iceland grabbed the equaliser with K.Sigborsson tapping in from close range after the Norwegian keeper dropped a simple ball

Slovenia v Cyprus: Group 5

Slovenia were by far the better team and on the 12th minute they took the lead as R.Koren sprinted into the area and slotted home a low cross. Just before the half hour they doubled there lead as Z.Dedic curled in from just outside the area. The second half was pretty quiet but with six minutes remaining in the game Slovenia added there third goal as M.Novakovic headed in from a looping corner.

Israel v Portugal: Group 6

Portugal dominated the game and on the 12th minute C.Ronaldo fired in a vicious freekick after foul in the build up. A minute before the half time interval it was 2-0 as F.Coentrao headed in corner. The second half saw Portugal continuing the domination but they only managed the one goal as H.Postiga ran onto a throughball to fire past the Israeli keeper.

Luxembourg v Northern Ireland: Group 6

Not a great game for the footballing purist as both sides cancelled each other out with there negative play. During the ninety minutes there wasn’t a single effort on goal

Russia v Azerbaijan: Group 6

Russia were the better team as expected and on the 11th minute they took the lead as A.Arshavin hit a wonderful effort past the keeper after jinking in from the wing. On the 26th minute it was two nil as A.Kerzhakov curled the ball in from the edge of the area to give the keeper no chance of saving. Ten minutes later it was 3-0 as P.Pogrebnyak barged through the defence and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper. On the 38th minute A.Kerzhakov fired in second of the game with a powerful effort which gave the keeper no chance of saving. Just before the hour the final goal was scored as A.Kerzhakov completed the rout and his hattrick
