Transfer Window Review - 2014/2015

End Of January

Summary

----------------------------------------------

An absolute disaster of a month. A combination of injuries and the loss at the start of the month completely unsettled the side, sending us on one of our worse runs since I took charge. To be honest i think we need a little more rotation that already, possibly even dropping a few 'Key Players' that have not been performing very well.

I have not spent any money or brought in any players as I feel we have enough quality and I do not want to get into any money problems again, also let a lot of reserve and players who i do not need go for free.

End Of Season Review - 2014/2015

4th Season

INCLUDING NEW FEATURE!

-Awards-

Summary

----------------------------------------------

npower Football League Two - Table & Fixtures : What a finish to the season that was, last 2 games against the other 2 teams that make up the top 3. A draw against Chesterfield gave us a brilliant last game of the season at Brighton who where sitting at the top of the table ahead of us by only 1 point. They look an early lead but 2 late goals from Tom Thorpe & Sam Thompson gave us the win and more importantly crowned us Champions. It was 100% down to the last 11 games of the season which we went unbeaten, free scoring strikers & solid defensive work was the key to that run and that is exactly what was need!

Check Key Players & Squad Screen for details on individual players performances.

The FA Cup with Budweiser - Fixtures : Not too bad this year, good performances in every game. Hopefully we can push on to make the higher rounds next year but main priority will be the league.

Carling Cup - Fixtures : I am kind of disappointed with our performance in the Carling Cup as we done so well the year before but you can't always win!

Johnstone Paint Trophy: Not much to say here, lost in out first game, South Second Round for the second year running.

Key Players

----------------------------------------------

Squad Screen - You can be the judge of the team overall.

Marcello Trotta - The teams top goalscorer this season, went on some good runs of form.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher - Can not fault this guy, absolutely outstanding in most games and scores when we need it most!

Sam Thompson - Came back from his loan and was a completely different player. Still not enough to get him a regular place but scoring the goal to win us the league, wow!

Tom Thorpe - Faultless towards the back end of the season, a credit to have as a player.

Keith Keane - One of the original Luton Town players, still here and his second time helping fight into the Championship.

Pre-Season Review - 2015/2016

End of July

Summary

----------------------------------------------

After a very strong end to last season, it is only right we get stuck in early on this season and judging by how we have played during Pre-Season you can see we haven't held back. A few decent wins & even when we have lost we still fought hard.

Starting from this season I have decided to host a yearly Pre-Season Competition at Kenilworth Road. This will be called the 'EasyJet Cup'. This season we have a mixture of teams as you can see in the Fixtures section.

We have also been very active in the Transfer Market this year bringing in as many faces that can bolster the squad and bring some valuable experience in the higher leagues.

Fixtures

----------------------------------------------

6 Wins, 0 Draws, 2 Losses - EJC - EasyJet Cup

Luton 1-0 Sønderjysk (EJC)

Luton 2-5 Fulham (EJC)

Luton 2-1 Wolves (EJC)

----------------------------------------------

Kevin McDonald - Brilliant start to his Luton career but an injury had halted that for now. Hopefully he is back soon!

Tom Thorpe - Good start once again, continuing from where he left off last season.

Marcello Trotta - Also carrying on from before his injury at the end of last season, a lot of interest is being shown in him now!

Transfer Window Review - 2015/2016

End Of August

Summary

----------------------------------------------

npower Football League Championship - Table & Luton Fixtures : Sublime start to the league, 5 games in and we are yet to drop any points or even concede a goal. Last season we had 3 solid centre backs in the side but this year we have introduced 2 experienced full backs which, along with the addition of a DM in midfield, has helped us be more solid at the back. One of the highlights so far would be hammering our local-ish rivals QPR 4-0 at their own ground, Loftus Road.

Below you can also see we have brought in several new youngsters and cleared out the old youth who have stayed from the start.

FA Cup with Busweiser - Not yet entered

Carling Cup - Lost in the First Round 2-1 after Extra Time to Torquay.

Transfer Window now closed.

Key Players

----------------------------------------------

Squad Screen - I have decided to add this in for you all to take a look through out the season.

Tom Thorpe - 1 of the 4 reasons in defence why we have not conceded a goal so far this season in the league.

Jesse Joronen - This guy is a legend between the sticks, nothing can go past him!

Johan Hammer - I'll stick reason 2 of 4 in here but that is all, this guy has already scored 2 goals as well this season, within 3 minutes of each other lol.

Joe Thompson - Thriving on the right and left in the Inside Forward position, Hitting the wing to deliver crosses or cutting inside and grabbing goals himself!

In Other News...

----------------------------------------------

- The biggest spenders in England were Chelsea, who spent £83 million.

- Most active side was Bournemouth, signing no less than 15 players.

- Edison Cavani joined Chelsea from Napoli for £43.5 million.

- Christian Fuchs Joined Liverpool from Tottenham for £14.75 million.

Mid-Season Review - 2015/2016

September 1st - December 31st

Summary

----------------------------------------------

npower Football League Championship - Table & Fixtures : Unbelievable first half of the season, it could not have gone better for us! Unbeaten in out first time in the Championship is not something I expected. Also we haven't drawn a lot of games and won the majority by grinding out the wins when needed. One of the key points in the season so far was signing Adel Taarabt, showing that we really mean business and himself backing it up with some brilliant goals. I know he is an ex QPR player but he is quality.

See below for the Team Screen.

The FA Cup with Budweiser : Not yet entered.

Carling Cup : Knocked out first round to Torquay.

Transfers

----------------------------------------------

In

Adel Taarabt (Free)

Out

Transfer Window Open Tomorrow.

Key Players

----------------------------------------------

Squad Screen - I haven't been in a position to be able to rotate as much as I would like but that will change soon.

Kevin Foley - First season back in Luton & he is showing why we couldn't keep hold of him before! Very good versatile player.

Gyliano Van Velzen - Stunning performances from this lad, during the first 10 games he was the key to us keeping our winning run! Joint Top Scorer.

Marcello Trotta - Joint Top Goalscorer, and has more assists than anyone else. He can play up top on his own or someone else and every time puts in a performance.

Jake Howells - Just like Gyliano, he is joint top scorer from the wing. These two just destroyed teams for fun during the start of the season.

In Other News..

----------------------------------------------

- This time Mario Gotze has won everything. Messi & Rooney are nowhere to be seen!

- United are top, then Chelsea, Arsenal & City follow.

- Real Madrid dominate, while Barcelona are stuck in 5th LOL.

- Sampdoria, Roma & Milan are joint top of Serie A.

- The rest of the leagues are textbook again(look at the RL tables now lol).

End Of Season Review - 2015/2016

5th Season

Summary

----------------------------------------------

12.png npower Football League Championship - Table & Fixtures : Absolute blinder of a season! We some how managed to go the whole season unbeaten, but not just that, we won the league. Every game we played I have been sitting there thinking how is this happening? But I am not going to argue with it.

I would say the highlight of the season is winning the league but in a close second it has to be doing the double over QPR and almost the same to Watford. Third place I think would have to be the 3-2 win over Bolton at the Reebok.

I hope you all keep following as I take Luton Town into the Premier League next season!

Check Key Players & Squad Screen for details on individual players performances.

1301426.png The FA Cup with Budweiser : We made it to the Fifth Round but that is where it ended to the future Finalist Everton 2-1.

1301427.png Carling Cup : Knocked out First Round to Torquay.

Key Players

----------------------------------------------

Squad Screen - You can be the judge of the team overall.

Jake Howells - 29 assists & 10 goals.

Adel Taarabt - Came in and played brilliantly from the off.

Carl Jenkinson - One of the most consistent players through the whole season.

Tom Thorpe - The same as Carl, consistent all season in CB.

Kevin Foley - Came back to Luton and picked up exactly where he left.

UEFA EURO 2016

Tournament Review

Summary

----------------------------------------------

Group Stage - Group A | Group B | Group C | Group D | Group E | Group F : England winning their group again, with Denmark & Croatia behind them. Ireland surprisingly win their group knocking out France in the process. Group C saw Spain finish bottom with Portugal, Serbia & Switzerland going through. Groups D, E & F didn't provide any shocks with Italy, Germany & Belgium all moving into the next round.

Knock Out Rounds - Tree : Ill start with the England game again as many of us our English. A pretty good shaky first knock out round but getting through anyway. In the second knock out round everything went wrong and Belgium secured an easy 4-2 win against us. So, as usual no success means we need a new manager and even though such a low profile manager, England did consider me which is better than last time which got me laughed off.

So moving on from England we can see Italy, Ireland & Scotland which stand out from the first round losers. In the second round it is England & Germany being beaten by Serbia. The Semi-Finals see Belgium step it up another gear and Croatia see off Portugal in extra-time. Coming into the Final you would think what an even game we could have here, but as Belgium showed here they are no push overs winning 7-1 in a World Cup Final!

Belgium win UEFA EURO 2016.

Pre-Season Review - 2016/2017

End of July

Summary

----------------------------------------------

If you could name any season in which the Pre-Season was more important for us, this would be the one. With several players leaving & new faces coming in these Friendlies are the only way we can gel the squad properly.

After last years success with our Pre-Season Competition, The EasyJet Cup, I decided to try and get some bigger teams and bigger team we got. Fulham & Wolves return but this season we introduce Manchester United to the cup. Check out the results below.

We have also been very active in the Transfer Market this year bringing in as many faces that can bolster the squad and bring some valuable experience for the Premier League. Also big news is the return of John Bostock, who Portsmouth stole off me for 500k back when we was in League One.

Summary

----------------------------------------------

11.png Barlcays Premier League - Table & Fixtures : You could say Mid-Table during your first season in the Premier League is a good achievement, but I think it is brilliant. The biggest highlight would have to be introducing Manchester City to Kenilworth Road and smashing them 3-0! There was also a nice result against Arsenal which ended in a 2-2 draw, but was a fantastic game of football. Lets hope we can continue our form and survive relegation!

See below for the Team Screen.

End Of Season Review - 2016/2017

5th Season

Summary

----------------------------------------------

11.png Barclays Premier League - Table & Fixtures : Not a bad start to life in the Premier League, finishing in 12th in the table. You could say we overachieved but judging by the second half of the season we just about managed to hang on because of how well we played in the first half.

I would say the two biggest highlights of the season was beating City 3-0 at home and the last game of the season, which we Liverpool 2-1 at home.

I hope you all keep following during next season as we try and climb up the table!

*Next season I will start including screen shots of Key Players*

Ali Al-Habsi - Superb signing, top class keeper for us all season.

Adel Taarabt - Back in the Premier League and playing well.

Rodrigo - I can not wait for this guy to mature, such a talent!

Pre-Season Review - 2017/2018

End of July

Summary

----------------------------------------------

This year isn't going so well in Pre-Season, the team are doing brilliant in training but in the matches we have played it just is not happening for us. It may be that the players are not fit or because we are still introducing the new signings, we 100% need to figure it out soon.

Once again we have the EasyJet Cup, with the same teams entering as last year. It wasn't a great success for us but everyone involved had a cracking time!

In the transfer market, it is possibly our biggest spending so far with us brining in 3 big money signings.

Fixtures

1 Win, 2 Draws, 4 Losses - EJC - EasyJet Cup

Luton 1-3 Fulham (EJC)

Mid-Season Review - 2017/2018

September 1st - December 31st

Summary

----------------------------------------------

11.png Barlcays Premier League - Table & Fixtures : Some bad form through December has cost us several points and seen us slip down from 4th to 10th in the league. We did have some good results against the likes of Arsenal & Liverpool but also disappointing matches such as losing to 20th placed Bolton & 17th placed Everton.

I would also like to share a job offer I received from Arsenal that included £170M transfer budget & 1.7M wage Budget. In my quest to get Luton as far as I can I rejected, but if they or another big team come back with an offer I may consider it.

See below for the Team Screen.

1301426.png The FA Cup with Budweiser : Not yet entered.

1301427.png Carling Cup : Knocked out Third Round to Fulham on Pens.

Key Players

----------------------------------------------

Squad Screen - Much better all round team so rotation is helping us keep fit.

Jesse Joronen - Brilliantly stepped up to the plate when Al-Habsi was out.

Rodrigo - In with a shout of Young Player of the Month all the time.

Sam Thompson - Come back from injury and looks a danger to any team.

Jake Howells - Still killing it, many clubs are interested

Seasonal Targets

Beat one of the top four from last season (league) : Achieved

Keep 10 clean sheets (league) : Not Yet Achieved

Do the double over Watford (league) : Not Yet Achieved

FIFA World Cup 2018

Tournament Review

Summary

----------------------------------------------

Group Stage - Group A | Group B | Group C | Group D | Group E | Group F | Group G | Group H: Not many shocks here, but looks like a good Knock Out Round to follow.

Knock Out Rounds - Tree : No England this year as we failed to qualify, what a shocker!

The Second Round was pretty straight forward with all the favourites winning, but Scotland in the World Cup, let alone the Knock Out Rounds and England aren't is shocking! Big game in the Quarter Final with Brazil losing 1-0 to Argentina. In the other games again it was pretty straight forward. The Semi's had 2 good games with the Argentina v Netherlands game standing out as it had 6 goals, extra time & penalties. In the other game, Spain v Germany, the Germans came out on top 1-0 which set up a Germany v Netherlands Final. In the Final it was a close game but Netherlands came out 2-1 winners.

Netherlands win FIFA World Cup 2018.
