Tartime
I'm playing in the championship with QPR season 14/15. I've noticed that my forwards just never score playing 4-5-1 and I'm having to rely on my midfield to score 99% of my goals (which isn't many). I've tried different forwards and different forward roles /duties but nothing seems to work. My forwards are: Grégory Bettiol Roman Pavyuchenko Philip Roberts Jamie Mackie. Would I get more joy out of these forwards playing a flat 4-4-2 or even a 4-4-2 diamond? My central midfielders are: Pape Diop Gorka Larrea Keith Fahey Joel Lindpere Ryan Mason Leon Osman Mika Väyrynen. Thanks for any help

Marsupian
Well the difference between a 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 is basically that you swap a ST for a DM so the 4-5-1 is naturally a more defensive formation. To compensate you can play one or both of the MC's in a more attacking role. The lone striker is marked by two DC's but your MC's can often run from deep and run at the defense largely uncontested until one of the DC's picks him up. I'd say in a 4-5-1 you should expect most of your goals coming from your wingers and attacking midfielders unless you set up your wingers and midfielders to supply your FC and have him play as some sort of poacher.
