Problem with the Editor

I installed the game onto a laptop I was given and when I try to use the editor or run the game it comes up with an error message saying that "d3dx9_41.dll" is missing from the computer and to try reinstalling. I do and everytime I do it says something about erros and checking the installation log which I can't find anywhere. It is most likely a problem with the computer as it has been problematic since it was bought 2 years ago but I thought I'd ask those who understand these things more.
