  • Really really bad defending

    Hello... My name is Dan and I've been playing this game since CM days... I only wrote here once, in 2010 I think, when there was an issue with DM's not making more than 2 tackles per game (and it was fixed).

    This year I'm really frustrated.. I've been playing a lot (90 hours)... My Steam id is K4desh... I don't know if you can check but I'm not lying... I have 1.5 seasons with Wrexham, 1 season with Feyernood, almost 3 seasons with Portsmouth and 1.5 seasons with Sheffield United... (3 different saves).

    The problems that i'm posting here happen A LOT... I mean it, like 80%  of every goal scored come from these type of situations. 

    I'm only posting one game because I think it's enough, I just promise you I've seen these errors over and over again and tried every tactic possible, complete team overhaul, anything I could think of... 

    Here goes:

     

    42:31 - left back just stands with the ball until somebody takes it (it happenes A LOT)

    52:30 - goal from long ball over defensive line (the CBs are useless for this type of pass, 90% of the time)

    64:20 - I score from exactly the same pass as they scored

    67:54 - My shadow striker goes for a very hard tackle in the opposition field earning a red card (no get stuck in, nothing aggresive in my tactics)

    81:46 - This one is the best: first, my CB (Ajer) RUNS away from the opponent getting the ball on the 16 yard line... then, my RB takes the ball and just stupidly passes is in the middle of the penalty box, to ANOTHER opponent, which heads it and my goalkeeper tries to control the ball with his foot and lets it gently float to the opponent who scores

     

    I know it's just beta but it hasn't been this bad ever... and I've spent some hours just researching if it's only me or everybody else and I can say now that it happens to almost everybody, no matter the quality of the team...

    One thing I think we are really missing now is the defensive width option, as there is always too much space between the CDs in a pairing.  Its far too easy for central strikers to run inbetween them now. The funnel option is great but neither option help with defensive spacing in this regard.

    I will anecdotally second the fact that CB's are useless at dealing with long balls or through balls. If it's in the air they often just stand and watch it go over their heads while a striker runs in behind. If it's on the ground they'll often chase with the forward and just stop, either completely or just for a second, allowing the striker to get goal side and have a clear run. It's happening a lot on my Spurs save.
