  • Opposition goalkeeper going up for set piece in 1st leg match

    With the score at 1-0 in a 1st leg Champions League last 16 match, the opposition goalkeeper decided to go up for a long throw in in the 93rd minute and my team proceeded to score on the counter into an empty net.

    This would make sense if the opposition were trailing in the 2nd leg of the match, however it makes zero sense for them to take the risk in the 1st leg...

    I was coming to post the same thing.  I just experienced this in the first leg of the Icelandic second division playoff semi-final.  we were leading 2:1 and the opponents threw their keeper up, despite still having a second leg to try to turn things around.
