  • Coaches can no longer work with teams that share the same training facilities

    Hello!

    In my FM23 save with Eibar, I have a reserve team called Vitoria in the third tier of Spanish football and we share the same training facilities. This means that first team coaches can work with the reserve team and reserve team coaches can also work with the first team. After uploading the save file into FM24, however, this is no longer the case.

    This is in contrast with the FM23 and FM24 manuals, which are identical in this regard: “First Team Assistant Managers and Coaches, however, may only work with the senior squad itself, and the same is true for all Reserve, Under-21, Under-19 or Under-18 staff: they may only work with their assigned age groups – with one exception. If two or more squads share facilities – for example a First Team and a Reserve Team train at the same site – then the assignments are available for anyone from any squad to move around freely.”

    Here is an example from FM23:

    In this screen shot, Kylian Carre, Djiby Mbaye, and Josue Molina are all reserve team coaches and I have selected them to help out the first team as well.

    After switching to FM24, however, Kylian Carre, Djiby Mbaye, and Josue Molina are no longer available to work with the first team:

    Moreover, in FM24, I can no longer assign myself as the first team manager to work with the reserve team either:

    In this case, the manual states that “as Manager, you can assign yourself to any of the teams at the club, while the same level of delegation can be applied to First Team Fitness Coaches and Goalkeeping Coaches.” Gregoire Delhaye (first team fitness coach), Jose Maria (first team fitness coach), and Zoltan Kelemen (first team GK coach), are also not available.

    This issue only applies to the reserve team. I can still assign myself, my fitness coaches, and my goalkeeping coach to work with the Under 19s, so no issue there.

    I have uploaded Eibar v1 _QA_FM23.fm (the original FM23 save file) and Eibar v1 _QA_FM24.fm (the same save file immediately after converting it and saving it in FM24) to OwnCloud. I have also drawn up some steps to hopefully make your life easier when it comes to reproducing the issue:

    1. Load the Eibar v1_QA_FM23.fm save file in FM23.
    2. In FM23, go to Training > Coaches and select Edit Coach Assignments.
    3. Notice that the following reserve team staff members are available to work with the first team:

    • Kylian Carre (reserve team assistant coach)
    • Djiby Mbaye (reserve team goalkeeping coach)
    • Josue Molina (reserve team fitness coach)
    • Theophile Jourdan (reserve team coach)

    4. Go to Vitoria > Training > Coaches and select Edit Coach Assignments.
    5. Notice that the following first team staff members are available to work with the reserve team:

    • Paul Adomnitei (first team manager)
    • Daniel Ramos (first team assistant coach)
    • Zoltan Kelemen (first team goalkeeping coach)
    • Gregoire Delhaye (first team fitness coach)
    • Jose Maria (first team fitness coach)
    • Arnal Alsina, Jose Molero, Simon McNeil (first team coaches)

    6. Close FM23.
    7. In FM24, load the Eibar v1_QA_FM24.fm file OR convert the Eibar v1_QA_FM23.fm file and save it.
    8. In FM24, go to Training > Coaches and select Edit Coach Assignments.
    9. Notice that the reserve team staff members mentioned in step 3 are no longer available to work with the first team.
    10. Go to Vitoria > Training > Coaches and select Edit Coach Assignments.
    11. Notice that the first team staff members mentioned in step 5 are no longer available to work with the reserve team.
