Started a save with York city (Vanarama National) at earliest point in the (pre) season using "Real World" database setting.

David Stockdale (goalkeeper) starts the game with a 7 month injury. IRL, the injury occured on the 19th of August against Aldershot in the league (4th game of the season). According to the game it occured on 3rd of July.

I'm not sure what the scope of "Real World" database is, in terms of whether its just for transfers or if it includes things like injuries. Ivan Perisic for example, was injured after the season started for Tottenham (sometime after 19th of september) and he does not start the game injured.

Additionally (back to York's situation) the Backup goalkeeper (Ryan Whitley) starts the game with a pre-arranged 1 month loan. This is correct, however IRL, when the injury occured to David Stockdale, Ryan was immediately recalled (and played the next match). Ingame however, you are unable to recall due to "Loans may not be cancelled within the first 28 days." A further complication is that Rory Watson (the replacement for David Stockdale following his injury) has a pre-arranged transfer, but does not join until 24th August (4 games into the season). As you can see this makes the goalkeeper situation at York frustrating as you have neither your first choice, backup or replacement for a month of the start of the season.

The possible solutions (in preferred order)

    1. David Stockdale should have his pre-configured injury removed. And by extension, Rory Watson should not have a pre-arranged transfer to York. (If using Real World; and injuries are supposed to be modelled with that DB setting)

    2. Ryan Whitley should not have a pre-arranged loan at the start of the game (not ideal for Real World)

    3. Loans should cancelable before 28 days (especially for loans that are only 1 month long...!) Appreciate that this one is probably not easily doable given the scope of testing a change like that world require.

Thanks for reading, happy to provide more details if required.

    Hi Sy,

Whilst I don't work with York specifically I can perhaps help with some of the points raised in your post.

    1) I'd have to look at whether injuries are covered the same way as transfers within the game - especially when choosing the 'Real World' option.

    2) As this is the Early Access some data is yet to be in its final form. Now this loan deal has indeed been cancelled and Whitley playing regular for the side - I could imagine this has already been tweaked behind the scenes

    3) This is something which is an FA ruling and therefore cannot be circumvented. For month long loans they simply cannot be cancelled due to this ruling.

    - Injuries are not covered the same way as transfers in RW mode.
    - The Whitley short-term loan should not have been set.

The Whitley loan will be deleted form the player's move history for the first official data update.

The workaround should be to get a short-term loan gk in for the first month of the season.

The Whitley loan shouldn't have been short-term as it was actually a season-long loan, but yes, it should have been cancelled when he was recalled due to the Stockdale injury - my oversight.

On point 3, the FA do allow exemptions to the 28 day ruling for goalkeepers - this was specifically used in Whitley's case IRL. But that may be hard for SI to code in.
