I know there is no money to spend but also that there are alot of useful players on free's. How flexible is the wage structure? Is there any chance of Henri Camara? LCFC Posted December 3, 2009 Share Posted December 3, 2009 I'm around October or November first season in my save sitting about 4th (snowed under with uni work so haven't played for a while). Been surprised by a few of the players, namely DJ Campbell who's pace creates all-sorts of chances even though he misses the majority. Might be good to play him for a season in order to generate interest as he's on the highest wages at £16k a week and I found him hard to sell on a different save. Bought in: Davids - Free - a 4th central mid seeing as Clemence starts injured. Fleck - Loan - Back-up left mid as I loaned out Adams and Porter leaving me just Dyer (although Dany and Maxi can play there). Greene - Free - Dutch right-back to provide cover for Neilson although he is actually rated as being better than him. Sold Burns and Craig King on frees but no established players. Found the first team to be very good but maybe lacking depth hence the signings above. Will be screwed if Weale gets injured. Fryatt has been a goal machine and Gradel rips it up on the right wing. Generally the first XI have all been brilliant actually. I play: Weale Neilson - Tunchev - Hobbs - Berner Gradel - Oakley - Wellens - Dyer Fryatt - Gallagher P.S. Managed to get rid of a lot of overpaid dead wood though (DJ Campbell, Clemence, Dickov etc). Also cashed in on Tunchev for £5.75m, couldn't turn down that sort of offer. My first XI has changed a lot already since the beginning. 4-1-2-1-2 formation as my wingers were a joke... GK: Alex Smithies / Chris Weale RB: Danny Simpson / Martin Taylor LB: Steven Smith / Bruno Berner CB: Solvi Ottesen / Jack Hobbs CB: Vadim Demidov / Michael Morrison DM: Damien Plessis / Espen Sogard CM: Richie Wellens / Andy King CM: Scott Robertson / Matt Oakley AMC: Sezer Ozturk / Paul Gallagher ST: Joe Garner / Yann Kermorgant ST: Leigh Griffiths / Matty Fryatt Got a nice healthy £8m in the bank too. My front 3 of Garner, Griffiths and Ozturk scored around 20 goals each. It's gonna be very tough to stay in the Premiership though. So far I have signed: Luis Jimenez on a free from Inter Mohamed Diame on a free from Wigan Valeri Bojinov on a free from Man City Kevin Thomson from Rangers for £5m Tal Ben Haim from Portsmouth for £3.9m Nathaniel Clyne from Crystal Palace for £1.4m David Beckham on a free (36 years old now) - made him my Captain Still got £8m to spend but gonna save it for January I think.... LCFC Posted December 10, 2009 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Reached February and just beat Doncaster 2-0 to sit 5th in the table with a game in hand after my game away too Blackpool was rained off so should go up to 4th given that there struggling in 23rd. Didn't bring anyone in during the January window, just let Cisak and Pentney go after their contracts ran out and sold Worley to Oxford on a free. In the league: Gallagher has 18 in 26(2). Fryatt has 13 in 26. Campbell has 9 in 6(14). Yes we have scored the most in the championship this season so far Out of both cups early though. League cup beat Morecambe before losing to QPR. Alex Smithies was a revelation in goals, England will be calling soon. My striker Kepa also finished as the Premiership top goalscorer. Talk about overachieving! Made a few signings (mainly freebies) and now my team looks as follows, ready to push for another top half finish: (1st choice / 2nd choice) GK - Alex Smithies / Michel Vorm RB - Nathaniel Clyne / Danny Simpson LB - Jose Enrique / Steven Smith CB - Tal Ben Haim / Vadim Demidov CB - Gary Cahill / Solvi Ottesen DMC - Damien Plessis / Mohamed Diame CM - Kevin Thomson / Scott Robertson CM - Steven Davis / Danny Guthrie AMC - Luis Jimenez / Rafael Van Der Vaart (loan) ST - Jo / Valeri Bojinov ST - Kepa / Leigh Griffiths or Joe Garner Got a nice 40000 stadium and £10m to spend.
