Hamachi - What is it?

Hamachi is a zero configuration virtual private network(VPN) application capable of establishing direct links between computers that are behind firewalls without requiring reconfiguration (in simple words it establishes a connection over the Internet that very closely emulates the connection that would exist if the computers were connected over a LAN, ie. your private home network).

So to continue, Hamachi is a tool that enables you to create a network that then lets your friends connect with you so that you can for example play FM.

Hamachi does not have to be used but is one of the more popular programs to help connect people and get a game together, it can be recommended if you do not know or cannot configure your computer network (e.g. Firewall settings, Router settings) and this is where Hamachi is then used as it creates the connection without having to change those configurations.
