In the previous season, Chelsea failed to finish top 4, but they won the CL (beat me in the final). Aren't they supposed to take the place of the 4th placed team? Guest Posted May 6, 2015 Share Posted May 6, 2015 The rules have changed from this season, the maximum number of teams is now 5 with the 4th place side only missing out if the Champions League & Europa League winners come from the same nation & have both fail to finish in the top 4.
