Dont understand my assman man logic in subs sometimes

for example in one match he subs a dc/mc for an winger who played as a amr then a AML/R/ST for a mc and finally a Rb for a CM. I've tried to figure out how he could of rearranged positions to make sense but can't

I just started a new game with Chelsea and have picked up Danny Ings. I attended the U21's game to see Ings make his first appearance in a CFC shirt and my AM had started with Ings in the AMC role, with Adam Nditi (who's a natural LB but can play WB/ML/AML) as the lone striker. He did change it around in the first half and Ings went up front but still, crazy decision.
