If my team instruction is direct passing but in the player instruction, his passing is defaulted to 'medium' will he follow the team instruction or his own?

Player instructions override team instructions.

So Team instructions for passing are actually a bit pointless as you have to go through every player and change their personal instructions anyway?

Team instructions are used when player instructions have not been specified.

By specified, do you mean I haven't ticked the box in their personal instructions as that's what I mean when I say their passing is 'defaulted' to medium

The answer to the question in your OP is yes. He will follow team instruction.

Mark, I really appreciate all your help and I don't want you to think I'm being ultra-annoying but if you look at my original question, a yes answer makes no sense!!

I just want to know, if I want my team to play direct passing but my players, in their personal instructions, are all defaulted (ie I haven't changed them from what they're automatically assigned depending on their specific role) on various points along the passing slider, do I need to manually change everyone of their instructions or will choosing 'direct passing' in the team instructions suffice?

As I have already stated in my last post they will follow team instructions if player instructions are set to default. Hope that answers the question.
