Pre-season fitness regime...

So, I have been playing this game for many years now, and I have never bothered to alter my pre-season training regime. But, as I fast approach another pre-season I am left wondering if this has any effect on my players, i.e morale, development or long term fitness. What do you guys think? Any advise is appreciated.....Thanks!

I know in the FM07 version, it was advised that you put your players on intensive training during pre-season, so that when you get half way through your season later on, your players fitness would be a lot better and there was more chance you would avoid injuries.

That makes sense, I haven't suffered to much with fitness later in the season, but I tend to rotate players anyway. But I think its something I am going to try for this pre-season. So, would you say to set fitness training to intense and everything else as minimal?
