Not sure if it would make much difference but have you also tried "Save As..." - it may be trying to save the game somewhere it can't/shouldn't. I had the same issue. I am quite certain it has something to do with me playing version 12.0.2 for days without quitting the game, because the way I got out of the bug was to quit, and apply 12.0.3 and then saving worked.
