wades209a
Hi everyone. I'm after some advice on a laptop I am planning to buy. There are really only two games I play on my laptop... FM2011 and The Sims 3. I have been looking at the Dell XPS laptop English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT) 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz 15.6"(40 cm) HD WLED TL (1366x768) 720p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera 4096MB (2x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel 8x DVD+/-RW Optical Drive 500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive 6-cell 56Whr Lithium Ion battery 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M Graphics Card Will this laptop work smoothly with FM2011? I like to play a number of leagues with large databases and a large number of players? I also with my last laptop struggled with the match engine running slow (abit framey) and not having crowds to help things on. Will the graphics card allow me to have large databases and play matches without issue? The next question is I have the option to upgrade my laptop to 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M Graphics Card is it worth doing so? A number of reports I have read said that the second 1GB is wasted? Many Thanks Simon
wades209a
Or please let me kow if you think there is a better option for around £600-£650?
wades209a
Is there any laptops which will work fast with Fm2011 which aren't too expensive?
wades209a
any suggestions? I was hoping to buy today. Thanks
Ishu
1GB is enough. You might want to upgrade to i7 2630QM which is much better. And PLEASE upgrade to the FHD/1080p screen. It is miles better than the HD screen(which is crap IMO). You might also want to look at HP DV6 6xxx series. Better GFX and much more VFM.
Wakers
Does it have to be a laptop?
wades209a
Because I move around alot I would like a laptop. Wasn't sure if the 2GB graphics card would be much better than the 1GB as it is only £60 more! The Screen improvement however to 1080p would be another £160 is that worth it? Wakers
I don't really see the point in the 2gb graphics card. That's normally an indicator that it's missing out on some important hardware features.
wades209a
Its just the optional add ons within Dell customize section. Think the i7 processor is too expensive for me and maybe the 1080p screen. Might stick with the XPS 15 with i5 processor and 720p screen?
Ishu
I would get the 525M instead of the 540M and get the 1080p screen. Its the most important upgrade for this laptop.
