Can someone explain 'Threading' to me?

Recommended Posts

If a toy company employs a single person, they can make 4 toys per hour. If they hire 2 people, they may be able to produce 7 (because the machine producing the blocks to make the toys doesn't miraculously double its production rate too.

That's basically threading. A processor can appear to look as if it were multiple processors even though it's one processor. However, it is no replacement for actually having two cores, or two processors. It also requires programs to be specially written to take advantage of multiple threads (Football Manager is).

So it's usually better to have it (I would recommend it - and perhaps getting a better processor) - although you of course pay more.
