Player Effectiveness

One thing I noticed is how this doesn't seem to change no matter what roles or the player's attributes are.

For example - if I move my left footed LW to the right wing he goes from green to red; some don't the AM RL ones. But should this be the case? Surely the role I give should have some effect. If I play him right then ask him to cut in - if he has good creativity and passing stats - and play through balls he would be effective. He can also cut in and play inswinging crosses.

Is this just a cosmetic thing - ie if he changes from red to orange due to player role it would make the game just matching the role till you get the right result or will he always be hopeless on the wrong wing no matter how I ask him to play?

If a player is able to play on both wings then his versatility must be fairly decent, thus making training on each side fairly quick. Don't see much of a problem :o
