Yes you can sign him as his sentance in game starts at the same time it did IRL. My only gripe is that players dont get a warning about signing him and how he will be unavailable. He should be either out of the game or you cannot sign him untill he has served his sentence then this would solve this problem that SI have brought upon themselves.
