Ozzy38
Every season I forget...In the Champions League you have to pick players so they will be elligible to play, however those below a certain age do not have to have been picked in the European squad to be elligible to play in a CL game. As soon as they reach a certain birthday, they are inelligible unless they were picked to be in the squad. What age is it? I think it's 22, but it could be 21 or 23. kroblues
I think it's 21, but I'm not sure. They certainly have to have received 3 years training under the age of 21 to qualify as one of the four homegrown players (or eight), so I'd imagine it's the same age as a cutoff for selection. Ozzy38
It's 22. So any players younger than 22 can play without being picked for the squad, soon as they turn 22 they are inelligible for future matches. Incidentally, the rules are 8 players who have trained at the club's nation for at least 2 years before the age of 20 and 4 players from the youth system.
