rich_m
Hi, If I sign an unattached u17 player on a pro contract, will he automatically come to my club on a Yth contract until the date which the pro contract kicks in (his 17th birthday)? Or will he remain in limbo until that date? Or is it best just to try and sign him on a Yth contract? There's lots of other clubs interested too... Brian Shanahan
Yes he will, except in league where a player turns pro at an age under 17 e.g Spain. It is just like signing your star 16 y.o. youth to a long term contract in order to keep him. In all my games the first 5-6 signings I make are young players to beef up my youths, and hopefully develop into first teamers. Oops I forgot to elaborate about Spain the player will just turn pro at 16 he will still come to the club immediately.
rich_m
If there is no-one else interested in signing an unattached u17 youth player, is he likely to accept a Yth contract offer? I'm a bit wary of offering pro contracts to u17s just in case they get a bad injury or something before they turn 17...
