How to determine a player's current ability level? Is there some kind of guideline available?

Hi!

I searched the internet without finding anything of what I'm looking for. I am editing my own database and my intention is to change players' current and potential ability so they better reflects real life after this season has ended. I am a novice regarding this, so I wonder if there is some kind of guidelines out there to help me. Are there any documents that SI's scouting team get that is available to the public so we can make our own changes in the database?

I am looking for something like this:

Current ability level guideline:

190-200 Best players in the world (Messi, Ronaldo etc.)

180-190 The top players in the world under the above bracket (Ribery, Lewandowski, Bale)

170-180 Top Champions League players

etc.

150-160 Top Prem league players

I hope you understand what I am after. The above examples are just my attempt to quickly find some kind of guideline.

There must be some SI staff or some other FM players that could help me. I appreciate all help!
