  1. Would be interested to know how the game was managed. At a guess:

-Tells the team at half-time that they're basically the second coming of Christ and all completely incredible, doing nothing to guard against complacency

-Leaves the tactics on an attacking setup

-Opposition goes into damage control mode, sits back more, and also succesfully motivates their team at the break

-They slowly begin to get more control in midfield and make some chances

-As the goals go in, the user changes absolutely nothing "because I was 5-0 up!!!"

-5 goals go in, ragepost time.

  2. Unfortunately this wasn't fixed and it still broken in the latest update. e.g. Turkey finished 2nd in the first season just don't get an extra spot at all - indeed, they lost a spot they were meant to have in the Conference League! The logic is completely broken ouside the Top 4 leagues. It's very clearly either never been properly tested, or found and ignored, because it can be replicated every single time.

My pleasure, I haven't run any in-game tests, when I get time (could be a while) I should really see how the CWC looks without my file and if it even needs these repairs anymore

I've just run a quick test without the file, and... I think it might actually be fixed at last? Training appears to happen as normal and players aren't overly fatigued!

There are a few other jobs which are exempt, for example bra-fitters

Yep. Legally, direct discrimination has to be a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. It's fine e.g. to only consider women to provide intimate care to other women, or to only consider a Black actor to play the role of Malcom X, or to require that a Preist be a practicing Christian. Football physios would be an interesting case. I think you could definitely e.g. argue that it's legitimate to want woman physios for a women's football team, especially because sadly it's a statistical near-certainty that some number of women in every squad will have been sexually assaulted by men and may carry trauma around that.

It's probably the opposite, to be honest, given how long SI have been developing the database.

I assume the first female people in the database were board members (Karren Brady and the like), so SI had to put in the 'male' and 'non-male' identifier (pretty easy; just batch-assign everyone 'male' and manually change the ones who aren't). Then as new people are added to the database, the researcher chooses the relevant flag.

You do need the flag, because the game has to generate portraits for anyone who doesn't have a photo, and female staff members get assigned the 'female' options.

I'd be interested to know if SI are exploring how to implement non-binary identification into the game, as that seems like something that'll be more of a mainstream thing in gaming over the next few years. And is also the right thing to do in general.

I'm non-binary and would really like this. But I don't expect it to happen, because translation would make it a monumental task. English is relatively simple with the ability to use "they" pronouns instead of "he" or "she", but in other languages with more grammatical gender for every noun etc, it might be much more difficult.

  6. Might mess around in the Editor and see if it works better if you just go a bit fantasy and change the rules. E.g.

    a) Remove minimum domestic player requirements entirely - should work but a big departure from reality. Or

    b) Count some nations as non-foreign to Saudi Arabia. In order of impact that could be other Gulf states, other Arab states, other Sunni-majority states, other Muslim states, or the whole of Africa and Asia. Doesn't seem entirely unrealistic that they'd seek to promote players from across the region and might give a large enough pool for the genius transfer AI not to go completely wrong.

Despite the similar name, this is actually a new competition, not the return of the old one. Past winners list should be empty.

I almost wonder if this should have the history of the Club World Cup up to now, given that it's essentially the same tournament with a rebrand, while the new Club World Cup should start from scratch given its vastly increased scope.

  8. I wouldn't necessarily say it's broken. A league suddenly growing in stature doesn't always mean it's going to get a big TV deal. Fans around the world already support clubs in traditionally big leagues and aren't like to switch - that tradition they have matters. Just look at Saudi Arabia - a relatively high-rep league in FM now, with tons of the world's top players there, and nobody gives a damn about watching it. There was a roughly 25-year window from around the early-90s to the late-10s where football went from barely been televised, to everyone around the world who's likely to ever be interested in the sport picking a favourite team/league and following it. Now it's completely globalised, those countries (e.g. Scotland) which failed to take advantage of this are pretty likely to be permanently shut-out of the big bucks.

Some feedback to hopefully address in FM25: I wish we could get away from the strictly binary gender system for managers. Why don't you simply provide a variety of body types (from masculine to feminine and anything in between) and pronouns and let people pick what they like? It would also make it easier to find any hairstyle you want (why is that gendered in the first place?).

I think that would be a much more welcome addition than face paint.

I'd absolutely love this as a trans person. It would probably be pretty hard to add in pronouns other than He/Him or She/Her though because of the number of languages the game has to be translated in to, and the fact that a lot of them have changes to many, many words depending on the gender of the person refered to. I remember back in the day SI saying how it had been surprisingly difficult to do this back when they added female managers for the first time, and I expect it'd be the same again for minimal reward. One approach taken in The Sims 4 is to allow full pronoun customisation, but only when playing in English.

The reason you would have Havertz at Arsenal is because in real life he joined on the 28th June 2023. And you start 'Your World' mode on July 3rd 2023.

I'm hoping that in the full release, it will be possible to add an earlier start date in the Editor to change this. Would be nice to just have something in June before the transfer window opened. (I'm assuming that if you start in e.g. Japan on Real World or Your World that he's still at Chelea, although I haven't tested this yet.
