  1. Nah, not really. At the start Hesketh, Gallagher, Stephens, Targett and Slattery look good enough to be first team regulars in the future. In any case Man City offered me an interview so I took the job there. Split the save however so there's scope for returning!
  2. My first season went pretty well, Chelsea came in for Ward-Prowse early on and he made it clear he wanted to leave so I tried to squeeze as much as I could from them, I didn't think £31m rising to £36m was too bad a deal and it gave me the freedom to develop the squad how I wanted it. I identified the need for a backup striker but Charlie Austin turned me down to sign for Watford instead, Jordan Rhodes normall scores goals on FM so he seemed like a no-brainer. Yannick Bolasie so far has proven to be an expensive mistake, managed to play only ten games due to constantly being out injured, and when he did play, he only managed one assist in the ten games. Ryan Gauld has been decent but the fans seem to hate him for some reason. I was binned out of the Europa League in the 3rd qualifying round by Charleroi, so that wasn't much of a run, however we started the league season with a bang, winning 3-0 at Spurs, I tended to beat the teams I was supposed to and lose to the big sides. We also came away from Anfield with a 1-0 win. We also reached the Capital One Cup semi final but a disastrous first leg against Chelsea saw us lose 4-0, and despite winning 3-1 in the home leg, we crashed out. We also crashed out of the FA Cup in the third round, getting trounced 3-0 at home by Wolves. We finished the season well, finishing 7th and once again qualifying for Europe due to Spurs winning the FA Cup. Man City came in for Cedric and I got very good money for a full back (the fee is rising to over £20m), and managed to replace him with a home grown player in Carl Jenkinson and have some cash left over. Wanyama kicked up a fuss so I had no choice but to sell him, he was replaced with Vicente Iborra who's release clause still stood at £4.3m, so he was a good, cheap option. Graziano Pelle wanted to leave to return to Italy, he had a pretty poor season so I allowed the move to happen, his Atlanta side were drawn against us in the Europa League group stages. Geronimo Rulli was out of contract and is outstanding so he was a great choice and Fraser Forster provides great competition. Jamie Vardy's Leicester were relegated, he was dirt cheap so I couldn't say no to having an option like him off the bench. Since the transfer window closed I've negotiated deals for Calum Chambers, Danny Welbeck, and Javier Pastore.
  3. Time for another quick update on my last twelve months. End of the summer transfer window last season I managed to do this: Although I'm now feeling the effects financially. Finished 6th in season two, but failed to qualify for Europe, which is frustrating as I could have done with the extra revenue, and games to continue blooding Hesketh, Reed et al. Boruc got injured just after the summer window shut for 5 months and not trusting Davis and Gazzaniga for the better portion of the season, I panic bought Declan Rudd on a free transfer. Anyway, season three transfers: GK was a priority as Rudd and Boruc aren't necessarily good enough for my ambitions anymore, and at £6m and £42.5k a week Ruffier is a snip, but in some great early season performances. Jedvaj has proved to be a great find for me, and he's formed a great partnership with Dejan Lovren in defence, CB was another priority with Fonte declining and Yoshida not being good enough. We sit top after 11 games with a superb defensive record. Took six games for us to concede! Hopefully we can at least get top 5 this season, as I'd prefer a season in the Europa League to blood a few more of my high-potential youngsters, and get them ready for top 4 assaults.
  4. Unfortunately I was unable to keep up my early season form and dropped off significantly round Christmas time. Ended up finishing twelfth which is disappointing in the scheme of things. Second half of the season results were poor, but my personal highlight was the 6-2 drubbing of Norwich at Carrow Road. After failing to sign Damiao I panic loaned Quagliarella from Juve for a few months, and he netted five of his seven goals for me in that one game. Ha. Anyway, I didn't realise Osvaldo had a fee agreed in the loan contract, so I lost him - albeit for £16m, so that softened the blow somewhat, and then I replaced him swiftly with a significantly better striker anyway. Didn't think I'd get him, but for some reason City had set his asking price really low, and I got him for £10m + £1m after 50 goals. Building my team around him and I'm hoping to have him leading the line with Lallana, Lambert and Ramirez as the three behind him.
  5. Started a new save with Saints on the new patch. Asked for a slight raise on my transfer budget to facilitate a free transfer, and was given £19m. Probably won't spend it. This is my only signing, he's fairly versatile and is good cover for Lovren or Shaw. And nine games in, we sit pretty in the top 6, opening two games were Man City away and Arsenal at home, which make up my two losses, but since then I've had a significantly easier run, so I'm unbeaten in seven. Adam Lallana has been outstanding for me. But I cannot get Lambert to score for the life of me. Sam Gallagher, Josh Sims, Harry Reed, and Jake Hesketh have all been promoted to the first team and have made appearances.
  6. I got given £50k to get a top half finish and a wage budget of about £55k a week. Martin cost me £15k up front and a further £35k over the next four years. I kept Coppell on but he was pretty useless for the most part. Unfortunately things didn't go to plan and i finished 20th, and chose to resign. so I'm looking for a new job in the football league.
  7. Hi all, chosen to take a break from the glamour of the PL and start a save with Crawley. My personal ambition is to reach the playoffs, but a top half finish is what the board want. Only signing I've made is Gary Martin, think he could score goals at League 1, Michael Svensson wanted too much money
  8. Dier is 3.5* current ability and 4* potential for me. Avg rating of 7.3 after 10 games.
  9. I had a lot of trouble around October time and couldn't win for the life of me. I nicked a couple of ideas off the pressure tactic in there after people reported a lot of success with it. Dier is certainly very good for his age, a step up on Fonte and Yoshida, 20 years old, and English. My squad depth is decent, got plenty of backup for every position except left-back, but Clyne can play there and Chambers or Dier can play at RB. The midfielders are generally very versatile and Mayuka came back from his loan and is 4th choice striker.
  10. After a mental 2014 I finished the first season in third place, thanks to a tactic modelled on Pochettino's pressing game, and with a few ideas pinched from the Tactics forum. At one point I was called in for a board meeting after losing five on the bounce but pulled it back, especially with a 6-0 win at Aston Villa. There was very little in it, from 2nd to 8th, so I was pretty fortunate, a 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the run-in sealed it, in my eyes. Only signings in Season 1 were Nicolas Gaitan and Davide Astori. Here are season 2's transfers. Managed to fend off competition from Real Madrid for Coutinho so was pleased with that, Eric Dier actually ended up costing me about £9.5m because he was 50% owned by his agent. And here's my start to the season. Reasonable, but I need to sort out my goals conceded column.
  11. 20 games in to my title defending season and my defence has improved considerably. Zieler has kept 12 clean sheets and Gazzaniga 2. Shawcross has once again been a rock, he'll probably win player of the season for something like the fifth year in a row. I've finally started scoring too, with 11 in my last 4.
  12. Decided to splash a bit of cash this summer, with the arrivals of Coutinho and my new striker and replacement for Jovetic. Net spend isn't too bad since Barcelona were stupid enough to pay £35m for a 30 year old and he has a terrible season last season. Scored something like 5 goals in the league. Here's my new guy: We had a good start too, winning two bits of (unimportant) silverware.
  13. Boom! I'm delighted with this season, Gaston has been incredible, 15 goals in the league and the winner in the Europa League final.
  14. Tajj, your Gaston looks incredible! Your updates have made me want to start over and do something similar to you, but first I have to emulate my success on FM12. I'm definitely in poll position and finally have sorted my defensive issues. But now I struggle to score as freely. Ramirez is my top scorer on 11, Jovetic has 4 this season and I think I may ship him out in the summer.
  15. Heh, Giroud is horribly overpowered it seems. He walks off with the golden boot almost every season.
