Manager movements in England in my save are incredibly unrealistic too. Why is jesse marsch taking the job at carlisle who are sitting just outside the L1 relegation zone? I can understand sometimes managers would take a step down and some big scalps happen in the manager market but this simply would never happen. When teams are looking for a manager in Engladn at least it seems as if they are solely judging on reputation/past trophies won etc. I have seen numerous examples of managers of teams who are lower half/relegation battling (which is either on par or slightly below media predictions of where they would finish) yet they get poached for jobs from teams in the league above.

I also noticed in my save game with Charlton, that League One bottom club Port Vale managed to convince Ole Gunnar Soljskaer to take charge..... (in the first season)

  2. I love a relegation battle as much as a promotion/championship winning season.  However i'm finding at the moment i can take a plug and play formation (gegenpress) and get promoted with any team with no major tweaks.  It's frustrating as i want the game to be challenging.  High scoring is also a frustration at the moment.

I do have faith SI will fix it, just frustrating to hold fire on a good long-term save until the update comes out.

  3. Played almost a season with Scunthorpe on the beta - wanted a challenge to start with.

Love the ME, so many different goals being scored - seen quite a few keeper mistakes and even had a lobbed finish from 40yds out from a misplaced keeper pass.

The only issues i've encountered are there are far too many goals - i scored in 36 consecutive games, including an 8-0, 6-4, 5-3, 5-4 etc - i've only messed about with a default gegenpress tactic and won 12 in a row.  I do know I am using a team which is strong in terms of the division though.

Not had many interaction issues, apart from upsetting one of the senior members with a harsh teamtalk during half-time in pre-season.  Had half the squad supporting him for the first few weeks, which co-incided with a bad start 14pts from 10 games.

Set Pieces - managed to employ a set piece coach, not great attributes but decent for VNN level and have scored some great set-piece goals - so have resisted tinkering about at the moment.

  4. I'm sure it's been mentioned but after a quick scan through i couldn't find anything but I feel Goal Kicks should be added to set pieces.

As it seems the majority of teams like to play it out from a short goal kick these days i thought it would be a useful addition if you could encourage it and set your team up to take different types of short (or long) goal kicks, position players and set a few instructions, similarly when attacking and facing a team who were playing it short.

I was quite in awe of Brighton on Saturday as they took risks with taking it very short and passing it about but at the same time had 4 players standing up on the half way line, they would pass it about between defenders, then once the Wolves players had started to press would find an outball to one of the 4 players in an advanced position - leaving in effect a counter attack (and leave 5/6 Wolves players effectively chasing back).  It didn't always come off, but it was very impressive.

  5. Started a new save last week

Season 1 - Finished 2nd with Wrexham (National League) lost the play-offs to Chesterfield - lost Mullin and Palmer for 3 month each from September which left me 16pts behind by December.

Season 2 - coasted with Wrexham and 10pts clear by January, Bristol Rovers (Bottom of League 1) came calling and i jumped, stayed up with 50pts on the final day

Season 3 - Got Bristol Rovers to 7th with 76pts, lost the last two matches and was gutted to miss the play-offs - saw Birmingham City drop to League 2 with only 22pts and in financial ruin.

Season 4 - Applied and got the Birmingham City job in league 2, what a challenge, no money in financial ruin - wages limited to £14k p/w and the only senior player left was Chong (who i couldn't sell) on £12k p/w.  Head against a brick wall time, with a team of mainly 17/18 youth players had some heavy defeats at Walsall, Mansfield and a 6-1 thrashing at home by Hartlepool.  Things are turning though, had 3 wins in a row - younger players improving and just managed to get 4 senior players to agree £350 p/w contracts (Lankester, Hollis, Savage and Delaney)

  6. Really enjoying the new ME - seem some great goalmouth scrambles, dodgy keeper decisions and even an overhead kick from outside the area (think Trevor Sinclair) crash against the bar and get cleared.

Properly got screwed with injuries with Wrexham as i lost Mullin (3 months) and Palmer (5 months) on the eve of the season but i'm loving the challenge and difficulty of chasing Notts County.

  7. Just a small suggestion and it's probably been mentioned before but I feel there is currently quite a lot of wasted space and background. I feel the immersion to managing your current club could be better by syncing it all to the club you are managing - i.e a faded club badge as a background to most screens, more club colours for the team you are managing on the screens.

When managing a new club for example, i'll look at the history etc and will have the colour change to the Menu/UI but I think you would be more pulled in with that Club badge faded in the background, maybe the club motto adorning the menu in some form.  For example if i'm holding a team meeting/addressing team instructions and managing Wolves i'd like to see something like 'The strength of wolf is in the pack' on the background with the club badge.

Also some bits of history for that club you are managing - i.e 'on this day in 1988, Wolverhampton Wanderers clinched the Sherpa Van trophy in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley'.

Just a few examples but I think if i'm managing a club I know nothing about I want to be pulled in, see the badge, see the motto, see the colours and learn bits of the history not just when i get appointed.

Looking to the future, extensive work has been done to reflect the format changes that are coming to the UEFA Club Competitions from the 2024/2025 season. Cup Draws will change to reflect this, while your news items at this time will give you more context of how the new league-style format will work and the coefficients of your opponents.
