  1. To be honest with you Drucey I have never used the lock in feature on the wage demands, I am a sucker for keeping the wage budget as low as I possibly can, cutting costs at all times. The way I have been going about getting bigger players in for less wage is offering them a decent signing on fee. Pat Sheridan is a prime example, he was my first player to get a full time contract, he wanted way more than what I could offer him in wages but I manged to sign him up for a decent length of time and a decent wage by giving him something stupid like a £10k signing on bonus.
  2. Congratulations DaFuge massive achievement!! Do Bulgaria have a decent side then?? Just a quick update about Matlock Town F.C. with two games left of the season i have eventually managed to get out of the Blue Square Premier, winning the league and therefore my first piece of silverware!! Full season update will be up later on today or tomorrow.
  3. I never had any luck singing big name players when i first started, i couldn't even manage to get Joe Mckee in!! Should be a big player for you in your first season, is he your captain?

The season as a whole went really well, for the majority of it we were in contention for the title. Poor results let Luton grab a few wins and pull away but non the less 3rd place was a major achievement. Once again neither the trophy or the FA Cup were very good, only lasting a couple of games, this just made for a better league form. Loosing only 12 over the course of the 46 games in the league wasn't ideal but luckily the teams around me lost andrew a lot aswell. Vital goals that were spread mainly between two strikers in Pat Sheridan and Jack Ryan, the latter brought in during pre season and ended the season the top goalscorer for us. What turned out to be another disappointing end to the season can only help me in the next, being consistently up around the top of the table increases the clubs reputation. The only hope i have is that the board don't get impatient with my failed play off attempts and start to look elsewhere.. 5. Matlock Town F.C. - Blue Square Premier - 2018/19 Blue Square Premier FA Cup FA Trophy Transfers Finances Key Players Pat Sheridan Jordan Williams Dominic Wyatt Job Offer After missing out on the playoffs on goal difference last season, this season was where i thought we could really push on and make the playoffs a certainty. A poor start to the season saw us lingering around mid table and the playoffs looked like a long shot. Poor runs in both cups saw us exit early and my most realistic chance of winning a first piece of silverware in the form of the FA Trophy was gone. The footballing gods were not kind to me when they drew us away at League One Chesterfield in the first round of the FA Cup either. A steady pick up of form and lack of results from other teams slowly saw us rise into contention for the playoffs again, and come the end of the season thats where we ended up. 5th place was always in doubt as once again we made hard work of securing it in the last 4 games. A two legged semi final against Southend was first on the agenda, a 1-1 draw at home saw them take a slight advantage when they took us back to Roots Hall, but that was no problem as we made no mistake in grabbing our chance to shine at Wembley. The final saw us up against Chester City, my game plan looked good and i felt confident that we could make the football league, however this turned out not to be the case. They outplayed us in every department, scoring two quick goals early on in the first half to slash are hopes. They went onto to get a third in the second half before a late consolation goal saw us try and give the fans something to cheer about. Another season passes where we were so close, this time to playing in the football league. Next season looks promising though, the bank balance is good and so is the squad. Maybe just Maybe.. 6. Matlock Town F.C. - Blue Square Premier - 2017/2018 Blue Square Premier FA Cup FA Trophy Transfers Finances Key Players Emmit Delfouneso Tosan Popo Pat Sheridan A season which saw us improve a lot on the last two seasons in the league, the majority of the season i sat occupying the play offs spots. A stronger squad with my signings and a new found consistency kept me challenging, although it was never going to be for the title. Along the way came two good cups runs, especially in the FA Cup where both ties against Preston North End were shown on the TV gaining us most of our profits for the season. When it all came down to it though i wasn't in the playoff spots at the end when it mattered. With a few games left i slipped out and then failed to get back into 5th place or higher, finishing in 6th ONE goal from a playoff place. Tosan Popo a player who has been with me through the entirety of my journey so far finished my top goal scorer although his stats show that he perhaps shouldn't be allowed to grab 18 league goals. A big signing towards the end of the season in ex Liverpool striker Armin Hodzic hopefully will help me push forward for next season, where i hope to try and compete for the FA Trophy. 7. Only myself to blame though hashassin i spent all season in the playoffs, then the 44th game i dropped out and couldn't get back in. Although the league looks tough this year Bradford, Southend, Tranmere and now Northampton and Leyton Orient are all Blue Square Premier teams this season.
  8. Just finished the 2017/18 season and missed out on the playoffs by 1 goal i was dreaming of league football!! Anyway time for pre season and end of season write up.
  9. I cant wait for the day when im able to bring a player through the youth process at Matlock Town! Padders what makes it more impressive is that he didnt even let it touch the floor, whats his long shot stat?? Also good luck XaW
  10. Matlock Town F.C. - Blue Square Premier - 2016/2017 The second season and i had hoped for an improvement from the first within this league, but it was all pretty much the same, wondering why i can't get a good start to the season and why the season cant carry on a little longer because i have such a good run towards the end, once again a tale of two halves. Blue Square Premier Once again a slow start to the season saw me hovering in the relegation zone for the early few months of the campaign. Losses and draws easy to come across but wins were alot harder. With my fortunes against me i took a bold move and tried a different formation introducing wingers into my tactic, which meant me having to go out and buy a left and right sided player to play the position. Hasty choices and poor player transfers led to me abandoning the new tactic and reverting back to my old style of play. Luckily a break finally came on the 26th November when i beat Barrow 2-0, i went onto play a further 23 leagues games and only lost 3 of them, drew 10 of them whilst winning the other 10. That left me in 14th place at the end of the season, which really shows how bad my poor early season form was. FA Cup The FA Cup only lasted two games for me this season, my money spinner ended with a lack luster performance against Leyton Orient on the 29th October. 575 fans turned out to watch me dominate in my 4th round qualifying game against Vauxhall Motors running out clear and deserved 3-0 winners, setting me up with a 1st round tie against Leyton orient at home. What i had hoped would bring in a decent gate turned out not to be true with only a small gathering of 1,249 turning up to watch us get outplayed by higher league opposition. The cup dream over early again, maybe a better run next year. FA Trophy Another two game cup run but this time only against one team. Chester were the opponents and after a hard fought draw at The Causeway Lane infront of 804 fans i thought we could take them back to the Deva and give them a run for there money. It didn't prove to be the case, we offered very little going forward and seemed to only attack from mistakes that Chester made themselves. The 2-0 scoreline was a perfect reflection of how the game panned out, Chester went on to the next round and we crashed out early once again. Transfers As mentioned earlier in the post, i made a few of stupid signings in the shape of King, Preene and Ricketts. Other than that singings that were made genrally added more fight to the squad, two great keepers came on board in the shape of Morch and Crump. Another loanee came from up north and made a big impact with his goals late on in the campaign. No one came near being as good as Bruno Pilatos though, an absolute rock and i would go as far as saying my best signing on this save so far. Key Players Nathan ThomasCame in and played 13 times for the club, scoring a total of 6 goals in that period. Seems that players are more willing to come on loan towards the end of the season instead of staying all season. Either way he helped the club out alot when he did come, his contract is up at the end of the season and if he does now renew with Sunderland i will certainly be trying to bring him in permanently. Bruno Pilatos A amazing signing, released from League One Fleetwood. He wanted a bit more than i could offer him straight up in wages but with a few bonus payments and landmark clauses he eventually came around and signed for me. He played 45 games for me chipping in with 8 goals, played at right wing back all season and was always on the team sheet when available. Pat Sheridan Another important signing for the Irish under 21 international, only scoring 20 goals this season but still finishing the highest scorer in the club. His start to the season was impressive but his goals tailed off towards the end of the season and was outshone buy Thomas. Still my number one striker and one of the key players in the squad, his value has rocketed this season though so maybe someone will come in and put a decent bid on the table, especially if i get Thomas in. Finances A poor season finance wise saw me making a big loss. Poor runs in both cups didnt help things and neither did my poor league form. All i can hope for is maybe a player sale, or a good cup run next season to help me get back into the black. Next Season Finances will be the main focus for me. hopefully being able to get back into the black. Some consistence in the league would be nice maybe being able to break into the top ten, maybe trying to get into the 3rd round of the FA Cup and getting a big money tie with a Premiership club. Heres to hoping!! 11. To much work has limited my Da Fuge Challenge but should hopefully be putting up a season update when I finish work. Missed to many season update from you guys, at least I have a good read for my dinner hour
  12. I am playing a 5-3-1-1 Bidwell, the past couple of seasons i had let a fair few goals in over the course of the season but not to this extent. Saying that though i am scoring just as many, when i posted the last post i had scored 15 goals to the 16 i had conceded. Seems like i must be adopting the approach of you score 6 and we shall score 7, except i am not very successful at it!! Thank god for Pat Sheridan
  13. Turns out this season i am unable to defend, within the first 9 games i have conceded 16 goals. So much for challenging for promotion into the football league looks like it could be a tough old slog down the bottom unless i can sort these defensive problems out.
