  1. Hi guys, I would really appreciate an opinion here from someone with hands-on experience. I bought FM11 for my MacBook in 2011 and loved it. I loved it so much I played it for 5 years without wanting to change anything. Eventually I got excited about what the new versions could possibly have that would improve my fave game ever, and so in 2016 I bought FM16... And hated it. I bought a brand new MacBook, but the graphics were terrible, very jerky and the HD mode made the text microscopic. I disliked so many things about this version that it turned me off the game as it was now impossible to go back to my FM11 save (after playing the same save for 5 years) and so for the first time in eternity i decided i needed to take a break from the game, start reading books and ****. Well, now I'm back and before purchasing FM18 I am wondering, did FM16 ever sort it's **** out? Were there good patches? Did the graphics and overall game engine improve (I loved watching the games in FM11)? How did FM16 compare in the grand scheme of things to other years and the latest installment? Many thanks
  2. Hi Neil, I am on a brand new 13" Macbook Pro Retina with 8GB RAM, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB. I have tried all combinations of in game graphics settings and with the 3D match game I cannot really find anything that is satisfactory. With Retina on, the best is obviously switching to medium/low graphics, but the gameplay is still too jerky to be enjoyed. Retina off fares better, but even on the lowest settings the gameplay still stutters a bit and is jittery like the mac can't quite handle the gameplay.
  3. I have exactly the same issues. Macbook Pro 13" Retina with 8gb Ram and Intel Iris Graphics 6100 graphics card. Very disappointed that with FM16 I have to disable the retina and move down to medium/low graphics and the game still runs jerky in 3d. The game feels laboured and is nothing like as smooth an experience as FM11 was on my 2011 Macbook. I have decided to try to downgrade to an older version of the game but it appears they are no longer on Steam, so i am stuck with the new version. I do not believe FM16 to be macbook friendly at all, esp not with retina. I hate to moan because i am a huge fan of the game, but i am not sure where to go with it right now.
  4. Why can i not find FM14 on Steam? i can find an FM14 demo, and FM15 full game, but not FM14 full game... or any before that. Have the older versions been removed?
  5. Thanks Kubi, but this was one of the first things I tried, and although it works marginally better, the overall 3d gameplay is still jittery and does not really make for a nice game experience. I am beginning to lose hope with the game and think i may try and hunt down an older version to install.
  6. Hey, I found that you can switch to 1440x900 in the game preferences, with retina turned off, but the 3d game mode still runs jerky. I just don't know what to do with it. Very frustrating. Watching the games play out in the 3d mode was my fave aspect of the game, but the experience now is just not as good as it used to be. If anyone else has any suggestions i would love to hear them. As such i just cannot get into the game. It really runs laboured like my mbp is struggling with it.
  7. Been running FM11 on a 2011 Macbook pro 13" screen with 4 GB RAM for the last 4 years. Loved the game, no issues whatsoever. I just recently bought a new Macbook Pro 13" with 8gb RAM and Retina screen and was very much looking forward to seeing how the game has improved in the last 5 years. Very disappointed straight away to see the 3d match graphics seemed much worse to me than the 2011 version on a 2011 Macbook! Disappointing as I thought it would have improved quite a bit in that time. I thought the 2011 3d gameplay was very watchable and the game ran smoothly. Now the player name text is blurry and the camera scrolling is jerky and sometimes its hard even to follow where the ball is. So after reading about similar problems with the 2013 version, I turned the retina screen off. This did make a significant improvement, player name text much smoother and the game runs less jerky, but to me, watching a 3d game is still not as nice and smooth an experience as it was on the game 5 years ago. Can anyone please provide any insight? I have switched my graphics setting to medium, which helped a little, but it still does not seem as good as before. Using the retina screen seems a definite no no, which is a real shame as the game is mostly text, and having bought a brand new and fairly powerful macbook, I was expecting much more. Anyone else have similar issues? Should I backtrack and try the 2013 or '14 game instead?

  9. I have tried opening in low resolution... the fact is, the text screens look much better with retina switched on, but the 3d match graphics do not play as well. With retina on, player names are blurrier and not so sharp, and the gameplay runs a bit jerkier. I would play with retina off, but then the text info windows i have open during the match are really big and cover a lot of the screen.. So if anyone can please advise the optimal settings for running the game on a 13" retina macbook pro with 8gb RAM, i'd very much appreciate it thanks! As so far fm2011 on my old mac was a much smoother game experience!
  10. I've been playing fm11 for the last 4 years and I reached the grand old age of 77 (from 30) in my game before i finally decided to call it a day and upgrade to fm16. The only stat I really missed not having a window for, in all this time, was my all-time player stats. When you've played the game for 47 seasons it would be nice to see your top 10 players for appearances, and who your all-time top 10 goal scorers are etc. Even when you clicked on player history, it would only list his total appearances (at the bottom of the screen) for ALL clubs he has played for. And then it only listed them as league appearances. If you wanted to know stats for all competitions, you would have to click on each season and count the total yourself. I was surprised that on a game so stat-heavy, this wasn't easier to view. Can anyone tell me if these stats are easily viewable on the new fm16 game?
  11. Thread has over 1000 views yet no-one else can offer any insight into the best way to set up the match graphics on a Retina Macbook Pro?
  12. Hi there, I have been running FM 2011 on a 2011 Macbook pro 13" screen with 4 GB RAM for the last 4 years. Loved the game, no issues whatsoever. I just recently bought a new Macbook Pro 13" with 8gb RAM and Retina screen and was very much looking forward to seeing how the game has improved in the last 5 years, as i skipped '12, '13, '14 and '15 altogether. Very disappointed straight away to see that the text is microscopic, so had to set to a 200% zoom to mirror my 2011 game viewing experience which i thought was perfect (and Im not that old! 34). So problem solved... But then the 3d match graphics seemed much worse to me than the 2011 version on a 2011 Macbook! A little disappointing as I thought it would have improved quite a bit in that time. I thought the 2011 graphics were great and the game ran so smoothly. Now the player name text is blurry and the camera scrolling a little jerky and sometimes its hard even to follow where the ball is. So after reading about similar problems with the 2013 version, I turned the retina screen off.
