  1. I think it would be good to make it possible for players/team overall to target a player specifically i.e (Telling Allan St-Maximin to run at Andy Robertson because he's carrying an injury, possesses lower pace/acceleration or is on a yellow, telling Aleksandar Mitrovic to try and get in the head of Joachim Andersen because he's on a yellow or having a poor game or telling a player to go down easier than usual if a carded player challenges.

I know we have the ability to focus play in a certain direction but it would be handy to tell a specific player to target another as I feel it would add another layer of depth for the 'Tactical Tinkermen' among us.

Anyway, what say you FM community?

  2. With every passing edition of Football Manager it seems this area has not recieved the TLC it deserves.

The amount of times I have managed Boca at 'La Bombonera' and when i score I do not see the hoards of blue and yellow flood down the terraces as they pile up against the fence in a fit of euphoria.
The amount of times I have managed a lower league side and the sound effects sound like i've hit the winner at Anfield when i've just scored against Dover in front of 135 people.
The amount of times I have managed Wolves and the stadium looks like a 4 tier bowl akin to the Bernabeu

I'm not asking for a dramatic improvement to the match engine but I would love to see stadiums & fans have more of a realistic aesthetic/character which more accurately reflect their respective clubs :)

  3. I am wolves (Not sure how to upload my save as i have saved it in the cloud)

My first issue is that whenever I try and change player instructions either in game or pre game during the week. the changes are immediatley forgoten when I click off the player. (i.e. When I'm instructing Nelson Semedo to 'cross more often' it confirms my choice by clicking OK and then I do it for the other full back and click OK. When I go back to Semedo to check, cross more often is not selected.) I also have it where if i click 'shoot more often' on a midfielder it selects it and shows as green, but then won't let me click OK.

My second issue is that my tactics change mid match and I dont know why. sometimes after I score/concede a goal my mentallity will automatically switch from positive to balanced. I have also noticed things such as crosses being changed from 'whipped' to 'low' without me touching anything.

I play my games in full for the reason of being able to change my tactics on the fly.

You are probably getting so high possession stats only thanks to the extremely aggressive defensive instructions (much higher LOE, extremely urgent press, counter-press, prevent short GKD), but your setup of roles and duties totally runs counter to a possession-based style of football. With all 3 forward players on attack duty, it is much more suitable for counter-attacking and/or fast attacking football styles than possession-oriented ones.

And that at the same time explains your defensive issues:

Because your tactic makes it too easy for the opposition to hit you on the counter by exploiting the defensive vulnerability created by your tactical setup (referring to the aforementioned defensive instructions + the overly attack-minded flanks).

Playing all forward players on attack duties does not help them score if they don't have:

    - space in which to operate and take advantage of

    - sufficient and appropriate support from deeper areas

In short, your forwards are probably fairly isolated as the only players on attack duty, and it's then compounded by the much higher LOE, which denies them space to potentially exploit. Your aggressive way of defending does not just expose your defense too much, but also works against your forwards by - as already explained - depriving them of the space they need.

    To summarize:

    - your in-possession TIs are overly possession-oriented (much shorter pass, much lower tempo, PoD, WBiB)

but then at the same time:

    - your setup of roles and duties is totally anti-possession

And all this is further aggravated by an extremely risky manner of defending.

I hope this analysis can help you understand why your tactic is not working.

Thanks mate, I will look to put this all into practice later (y) :)

  5. Hey folks, bit of a lurker in these forums for almost 20 years now

In FM 20 I am struggling to find a tactic that can create good chances. I'm getting 60% possession every game with a standard 4-3-3 wide (man city esq) formation but i'm still getting beat 1-0 or 2-0 because my team cant score.

I've tried using Inverted wingers, inside forwards, poachers, deep lying forwards you name it i've tried it!

I've had this issue with Cardiff/Bayer Leverkusen/Arsenal a variation of teams. No goals being scored.

I suppose the question I want to ask the SI community is... where am I going wrong???

  6. Could we bring in the ability to change a manager shout once it's been selected?

The amount of times I have selected 'Praise' and then a highlight starts, results in an opposition goal. My team think I am praising them for conceding and become confused an demotivated. As soon as I select my shout it 'greys' out leaving me and my little computer players frustrated :)
