    Season 2 - 2022/23

League - Fresh off a title winning season we stepped up to Serie D. We started off very well and were at the top or near the top all the way through to January. However as winter came our form fell off and we had a rough time in January and February. This saw us fall off the pace and we needed a strong final two months of the season to have a chance. And boy did we give it our all, went undefeated in our final 11 games of the season but ultimately fell just short. We finish the season in 2nd just 1 point back from the winner. We had the better goal difference so it stung to fight back and get so close but falling just short. We did make the playoffs, not that it mattered anyway, but bowed out in the first game. We've improved our squad and we predicted to come in the bottom third of the league so we greatly overachieved so continuing to build our squad we should have a good chance for promotion next season.

Cups - Just one cup this year, the Coppa Italia Serie D. We did reasonably well making it to the 5th round beating 4 teams along the way. Hopefully with an improved squad next season we can have a shot at winning a double again.

Other - Still no facility improvements but our finances are looking good at the end of the season. Sitting on $300K after our payout so was hoping we could get an upgrade but the board shot that down. We'll keep pushing for any kind of upgrade but I'm not holding my breath. Got a few good potential youth players in so we'll see how they progress. Patiently waiting for the National Team job to open up

    Season 1 - 2021/22

League - First season with Victor San Marino in the Eccellenza Emilia-Romagna Girone C (Tier 5) of Italian football and we were one of the favorites (media prediction of 2 or 3) so anything short of a title challenge would have been a failure in my eyes. Not only did we meet that mark we won the league and went invincible in the league (20 wins, 6 draws). We started the season off flying out the gate and we were scoring plenty of goals. Our defense will need improved upon next season with the step up but we absolutely smashed it and I couldn't be happier!

Cups - We competed in 2 cups this year. First up was the Copa Italia Eccellenza Emilia-Romagna. This was not a priority for us as we were fully prioritizing the league so the first 3 quarters of the competition we fielded mostly our backups However once we hit January and the league fixtures slowed down and we were still in it I felt this was a winnable competition and started playing more first choice players. We made it to the final and faced off against Alfonsine and after 90 we were all even 2-2. In extra time we found the goal and lifted the trophy 3-2!

The other cup we were in was the Coppa Italia Dilettanti. Starts off in a group stage with 3 teams and that is where our journey ended. We drew the first game and won our second game. We finished the group with the best goal difference but it turns out it's a random draw if you finish on the same points. We weren't the lucky ones and our name wasn't pulled so we crashed out, a real shame as this was another winnable competition it seemed.

Other - Didn't get any upgrades to facilities or youth recruitment/junior coaching and our finances aren't great but that's life down in the lower leagues. After gaining promotion and getting a new contract the board did allow me to get my next coaching badge (Continental C). Didn't grab any screenshots but our youth intake was very good. Got a few highly rated San Marino boys who will hopefully develop nicely. It does suck u21or even u18s have to be registered or they aren't eligible to play in the league. Use to managing in England where that isn't the case. Anyway onwards and upwards and patiently waiting for the San Marino NT job to open up

  3. Been awhile since I've officially done a challenge here on the forums and I've got the itch so I've picked the San Marino challenge. Already in January of the first season with Victor San Marino. Hopefully I'll complete the season in a few more days and I'll have screenshots of my accomplishments. I did plan on starting off both with the San Marino NT and Victor San Marino but forgot to select that when setting up the game so instead of restarting it I just rolled with it and am patiently waiting for the job to open up.

Great progress by some of you here already. Look forward to reading through the posts fully and good luck everyone!

I'm an New Zealander, I not sure how many people actually play the game here. I've always suspected its not a big number. Then, I would think only a tiny fraction of those would be Te Reo speakers.

It would appear there are approximately 800,000 Welsh speakers, maybe 1.2m Irish speakers worldwide and 125,000 Te Reo speakers. Possibly more if you include those with a basic understanding of the language. Culturally, more Irish and Welsh are likely to play FM.

We are on a big Te Reo push here which is a real positive for both Native Maori and Kiwi's of European decent. Whilst I'd always be supportive of any minority language being introduced into the game I suspect there would need to be demand. This comes back to the number of Maori playing Football Manager, I'm just not convinced its a big number.

    Still, it would be welcome.

I'm not asking for it to be a game language but rather it be a language in the database. Other examples from the game besides Welsh and Irish would be Quechua and Aymara which are indigenous languages in South American from the Peru, Chile and Bolivian region.

    Season 9 - 2027/28

League -  First year in League 1 and from my past experiences in FM I felt we could be a mid table team and if we had some good runs we could have an outside shot for a play off spot. And that is exactly what happened, the first few months of the season we had to fight for everything while we adjusted to the new level of talent we were facing. We weren't in any danger but we still struggled more than we we did good. However, come Christmas time we flipped a switch and we started playing to a higher standard and put on a very good second half of the season. If we played like that all year we would have been fighting for automatic promotion. This year we settled for 6th place which we only got thanks to winning our last game and the 3 teams ahead of us drawing or losing. However, this year it was not meant to be and we lost to Bury in the playoffs. This season was very good and something we will look to build on next year and push for promotion. In the long run it is better we did not get promoted right away because we simply are not near a Championship caliber squad. We had another takeover this season which saw ownership change to the fans so I guess we won't be getting the sugar daddy treatment anytime soon. The takeover was great timing because we were not looking good financially and our balance was reset. We still have about a 1 million dollar loan we are paying off but we are looking much better than previous years.

Cups - Not much going on this year, will look to improve next year

Transfers - Got some good loan players in this year that helped us since we don't have the budget for these types of players yet.

Finances - As mentioned earlier we are doing better financially and should build on this next year. I completed my Continental A license and just started my Pro license as well.

    Season 8 - 2026/27

League -  Third year in League 2 after falling in the playoffs the past 2 years I was pushing for automatic promotion harder than ever. I felt I made some very good signings and my squad was stronger than ever. We got a new center piece striker who hit the ground running and we were feeling really good the first half of the season. Then came January 5th, a match against Leyton Orient saw our star striker go down for the season with damage to his cruciate ligaments. A huge blow for our team but this meant Keston Williams would be back in the starting role. One month later we were struck again with terrible news... this time Keston went down with a broken foot and would miss the next 3 months. Down 2 strikers saw us drop down the table and coming to the tail end of the season there was very much the possibility of missing out on the playoffs. Luckily we did enough to secure our place in the playoffs. Keston was almost back in time for our first round clash against Burton but he was not ready. Our team rose to the occasion and we dispatched Burton with a 4-2 win to book ourselves a spot in the final. Here we would face Accrington and Keston was fit enough to get a start. It was a hard fought battle but we did it! We finally got our promotion to League 1!

Cups - Probably our best overall cup performances so far. Not bothered about the EFL Cup but we won our first game in it this year but losing in the next round. FA Cup we only made it to the third round but we faced Chelsea which boosted our gate money, shame it wasn't away. EFL Trophy we made it all the way to the Southern Semi Final where we narrowly lost away to Plymouth.

Transfers - Broke our record for highest transfer fee received with our sale of Monemvasiotis to Preston. After refusing a transfer request from some clubs he became completely unprofessional and skipped practice a few times. Also sold Adrian for a good chunk of money, both of whom I had signed on a free at the start of the season.

Finances - We made it out of the red...barley, not enough for us to do anything with but hopefully we can fill up our stadium now that we are in League 1 and get some new sponsorship deals to go along with the TV money we will get.

    Season 7 - 2025/26

League -  I actually finished this season around Christmas time but apparently never posted my update so this will be brief. Finished in 5th but we were on a poor run going in. We lost in the first round of the playoffs which meant we were staying in League 2 for a third year.

Cups - EFL and FA Cup both say us crashing out in our first games against Wigan and Sunderland respectively, shame on the FA cup once again. We did find success in the EFL Trophy which say us make it all the way to the Southern Quarter Final. Not a big money maker but the prize money for winning certainly helped balance our hemorrhaging money.

Transfers - Sold a player who was moaning about playing time, very pleased we got that amount for him. We got a new GK(Annerson), new starting striker(Williams) and two starts in a loan. Williams became the first player in club history to represent their country at a World Cup!

    Finances - Bad, just bad

    Season 7 - 2025/26

League -  Another solid year in League 2 ended in playoff disappointment again. We had a real good chance of getting automatic promotion but coming down the stretch we let the nerves get to us and couldn't find a win. On the last day of the season we still had a chance to get automatic promotion with us sitting on 79 points and facing Rochdale. However we just couldn't find a way to get the ball in the net and we drew the game and Rochdale moved up above Ebbsfleet. So off to the playoffs again and this year we face Eastleigh in the first round. Eastleigh have been following us the leagues being lead by my former assistant manager. They got revenge on us after we beat them in the National League playoffs a few years back. Next year we really need to push for automatic promotion to avoid this again. I have new faces coming in next year to add a bit extra quality and will look to find some loan players if any good ones are available on 0 wages as we are at our limit and struggling financially.

Cups - Again we struggle in the FA Cup losing in our fist game. Simply not good enough and we really need to money. Not bothered about the EFL Cup and we lost to Wigan in the first game. We did again have a strong showing in the EFL Trophy which is nice since I use this as a rotation to get some of our backups and young players game time. Ended up making it a round deeper this year and lost to Portsmouth on penalties.

Transfers - Sold a young player who kept complaining about first team football but simply was not good enough for a decent price and got a clause in for future transfer money. With no quality CBs available on loan or free we made a rare purchase for Rice who went straight into the starting 11 and was solid enough. We had an injury crises late January with our other CBs which saw Rice partnering with some youth players(which didn't do bad). Annerson was our starting GK and Seal and Harris also came in on loan and were starters as well.

Williams came in November after failing to land a contract else where and became our number 1 striker. He was solid and is our first player to play in a World Cup!

Finances - Down $400k even after the revenue from League 2 was distributed to us. Before that we were near -$900k, this next year will be tough on us financially unless we pack out or stadium, which we don't come close to and haven't had a sell out in a League game yet.

    Season 6 - 2024/25

League -  First season in professional football and what a great first season we had in League 2.  We proved that we could compete in this league and always had chance to win the 3 points. Up until December we had a realistic chance of gaining automatic promotion but ultimately this proved to be too much for us. Instead we stayed in the promotion places and ended up finishing 5th. Unfortunately we came up short losing to Leyton Orient in the play off final by a score of 2-0. That of course was disappointing as we put together a fantastic season considering we weren't able to add that much more talent. Our best striker is still Zane Banton who I signed in our first season, and he is definitely not League 2 standard but I wasn't able to find a better replacement that was worth the wage they demanded.

Cups - League football means new and more cups. In the EFL Cup we faced Cardiff City in the first few weeks of the season and thoroughly got beat 3-0. In the EFL trophy we finished first in our group before losing to Northampton in the Second Round of the South section in a close 0-1 game. The FA Cup with disappointing as we swiftly crashed out in our first game against Peterborough with a 1-3 defeat. Need to do better!

Transfers - Added more midfield players and am really happy with my options here. Loaned in 2 players for the first time and both played big parts. Got Lee back for next year and will continue to be first option at LW. Villa wants Bytheway to play at a higher level now which is disappointing as he was a rock at CB.

Finances - For the first time we have(had) money! I quickly put this into both our facilities and even got a new coaching badge on the way. With our profile rising we should continue to see our attendance go up but still see our average home attendance around 1,500 which hurts.

    Season 5 - 2023/24

League -  After last seasons disappointing season I brought in a few new faces to push us forward. Unlike last season my new recruits made the impact I was hoping for. We had a great first half of the season and were keeping up with the league leaders. Unfortunately we had a dip in form coming towards the end of the season and fell out of the playoff spots. Luckily in the final stretch we found our form again and made the playoffs on the last day. Our hot streak continued in the playoffs beating Tranmere, Dag & Red and then Eastleigh(managed by my first Assistant Coach). The final was a close game that saw us coming back to win 2-1 in front of a crowd of 38,000+

Our team was led by new signing Antonio Diaz who played in our deep lying playmaker role. Diaz was so important to us this season that he swept the end of the season awards

Cups - This season was a complete disappointment when it came to our cup competitions.  In the FA Cup it took a reply to get past our first opponent in Basingstoke and then crashing out in the 1st round to fellow National League competitors Carlisle. In the FA Trophy we failed to trouble Yeovil in the 2nd round which means we won't be adding this trophy to our collection.

Transfers - 6 new starters came in, and without them we would not be going up.

Finances - We did get a boost to our balance after winning the final and gaining promotion but we are expanding our stadium(so happy they haven't decided to build a new stadium yet) and will have extra expenses since turning professional.

    Season 4 - 2022/23

League -  Second season in the National League and losing out in the playoffs last year I was optimistic of this year especially with some talent we brought in. However, things just didn't click for us and our season saw us put in inconsistent performances all year which saw us finish 13th. When things seemed like they were back on track we would lose form and drop down the table. Ultimately we missed out on the playoffs which left me frustrated. Maybe I was being too loyal to some players that just aren't up to standards and this opened my eyes. Coming into next year I upgraded some key positions and was extra careful to get the right players who have strong mentalities.

Cups - This year made it the farthest yet in the FA Cup, reaching the 3rd Round and getting an away draw to Aston Villa. We got some much needed money which unfortunately was only enough for a coaching badge before it ran out, but much appreciated!

FA Trophy continues to be a disappointment, knocked out in our first game.

Transfers - Thought I had some real gems joining this year but ultimately only Knight lived up to my expectations. Broome who was suppose to lead our attack was simply not scoring and ended up getting outscored by Banton who started less games

Finances - As mentioned the cup money quickly ran out.

We did get a takeover but no money was invested into the club and still refuses to get an affiliate.

    Season 3 - 2021/22

League -  First season in the National league so I was unsure of how our team would fare. We had a slow start to the campaign so we had to work our way back into the playoff positions. We were ways off the top teams in terms of ability and the highest we managed to make it was 4th place. York were by far the best team in the league this year and this showed in the final table. We made it past the first round of the playoffs but ultimately lost the semi finals to Maidstone who went on to win the final. We were missing our starting LW who got injured 2 games before the end of season and was out throughout the playoffs and then ended up picking up an injury to our starting LB before the semi final. We definitely could have won but a poor first half meant we needed to come behind, each time we got one back they scored another. The match ended in a 3-2 win for Maidstone. Overall this was a good season even though playoff losses are very disappointing being that close to promotion. It looks like next season better players are willing to join the club. I already have a new striker joining, an 18 year old from Chelsea. He is already better than Banton and looks to fit in perfectly for our tactics.

Next year we will push on!

Cups - Same old story with the cups. FA cup started poorly which saw us needing a replay against VNS side Chesham(first game was at home as well). Made it to the 2nd round once again and at least lost to a team in a league above us. Really hoping to get a decent run / draw so we can get some much needed monies.

FA Trophy saw us reach the third round before losing to Dag & Red who finished 18th in our league so that was a bit upsetting.

Transfers - Not as many in this year and didn't transfer anyone out(not for lack of trying). 5 of these were starters and the others were rotational players

Finances - Still lacking the money, stuck with no upgrades until we get some money in the bank.

    Season 2 - 2020/21

League -  Wow what a year this was which saw the Wanderers become the champions! My defense was revamped with new starters which really made a huge difference. This year we scored the most goals and conceded the least in the league. Incredibly we started the season unbeaten in 31 games, by far the longest run I have ever been on in any FM. We made it all the way until February 27th before we ended up losing a heart breaker by a 94th minute goal. We did have more draws than I would have liked by I believe this is simply down to player quality. Zane Banton picked up where he did last year and consistently scored goals. Led the league in goals with 37 and picked up 7 assists along the way.

Next year will be a step up but believe our setup is more than capable of a mid table finish if we can add a quality player or 2.

Cups - This year was so much better in terms of cup competitions. In the FA Cup we made it to the 2nd Round which helped us out financially. We disappointingly got smacked down 4-0 against National League side Fylde and will be looking for payback next year.

FA Trophy we made it 2 rounds in and crashed out to National League side Ebbsfleet in the 1st Round. I do have ambitions to win this cup before we get promoted to League football so we can add silverware to our cabinet :)

Transfers - 6 new starters ended up coming in, the rest are all coverage and prospects.

Finances - Made it out of the red thanks to the cup run and took that opportunity to get my 3rd coaching badge. No money to do anything else and board keeps rejecting senior affiliate request. Announced stadium expansion to meet requirements so we will be in a tougher situation next year, but am thankful they didn't decide to build a new stadium.

    Season 1 - 2019/20

League -  First season you never know how it is going to turn out. We started off slow as we weren't able to attract quality players but were never in any danger. In October we were finally able to sign our top target Zane Banton who we had on trial during pre-season but either refused to sign or then was demanding too high of wages. His pace at this level is lethal, as soon as we got him our fortunes changed and we started climbing up and challenging the play off spots. We had a terrible spell in February and March were we only picked up 2 wins from 9 games. This put us in danger of missing out on the play offs...but somehow we managed to sneak in thanks to a win on the final day and a Woking loss. Unfortunately for us our play off dreams were short lived, we crashed out in the first round against Hemel Hempstead. We were outplayed which was frustrating as their best player was suspended for the match and they were in bad form.

Next year I hope we are able to build off our good first season and bring in some new faces to push us over the edge.

FA Cup and FA Trophy both were terrible experiences for us this year. We crashed out against our first opponents in each competition. In the FA Cup we lost in the 2nd Qualifying Round to Sevenoaks. We got a home reply and proceeded to lose 0-1 without putting up any fight. This was unacceptable and made my players well aware of this.

FA Trophy was a 0-1 loss away to Dartford, which was disappointing but acceptable.

Transfers - Nothing special here, lots of new players in to fill out our team.

Finances - Finances steadily declined all year and with no cup wins at all we ended up in the red. Our board refuses to accept my requests for an affiliate even though it would help tremendously with our cash flow. I did however get 2 coaching badges before things got worse. Don't expect to get anything new in our current state though.
