I love the 4-2-3-1 but just lately I am getting caught out at the back with only 2 CB's until the cavalry arrive. I am thinking of changing to a 3 at the back , 2 wing backs, 2 in CM, 2 AF's and a lone striker.

Any thoughts guys, thanks

I know it can be in the players traits to get forward, i.e Bellerin, but is there any way to stop him getting forward as everything I've tried is not working. I am trying to stick with my 4-2-3-1

Just to point out, I'm 2 seasons in at a new team and haven't changed these formations once. But we can't ever seem to get FULLY familiar with either of them or keep that familiarity for a length.

On my squad screen, players are more familiar with my "other tactic" rather than my "primary" trained tactic... it's the same tactics they've been using for 2 seasons? On the training screen, it says the primary trained tactic only just edges the other tactic out.

I will try what you said as it's the next best idea. Hopefully, there's someone on here with more depth on 'training' and how to overcome and improve this, rather than a quick fix.

Remember I am managing Arsenal, so they are top players, if you are playing with a smaller lower league team the players may not be up to standard.

I hate training with a vengeance lol, I would sooner have my teeth pulled out without anaesthetic. I also leave all the training to my Asst Manager BUT, what I did read somewhere was that when you choose your tactic formation and load it, load it as no.2 and no.3 as well. This way they will only train on that tactic. So if you use 'Joe Bloggs 4-2-3-1', then load that as no.1, when you load it again as no.2 it says 'copy of Joe Bloggs 4-2-3-1 and when you load it as no.3 it says 'copy of copy of Joe Bloggs 4-2-3-1.

I start preseason with 7 friendlies, thats Arsenal 1st XI vs Arsenal 2nd XI, then I choose 6 friendlies ranging from teams we will beat by 10-12 goals and making the next one harder until I end up with one of the 'biggies' like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus or whoever is available a week before the Charity Shield with Liverpool and by then my team is almost 100% ok with familiarity because that tactic is the only one they have been learning and get used to it very quickly.

I had the same problem, but with Maitland Niles, so I just kept him transferred listed and made him unavailable for loan and then offered him to clubs. He eventually asked to be allowed to stay.

Well, after winning the 'Quintuple' in my last save, I have decided to start a new save, with the basic squad. In January I will be looking to bring in Declan Rice and Dayot Upamecano.

 

We picked up our first trophy, thanks to a 5-0 demolition of Liverpool in the Charity Shield.

I'm glad that we could make 2 teams like IRL, otherwise I think I would have been totally stuffed.

I have now scrapped that save, which is a shame as I never got to use Donnarumma who was coming in after his contract expired in June 2021.

I have decided to start another save, only this time I will not be getting Rice and Upamecano until Jan 21 as I have turned off the first transfer window. So lets go for another 'Quintuple'.

When do you use your 4-2-3-1 and when your 4-1-2-3 on previous page?

 The 4-1-2-3 is actually 4-3-3. I used the 4-2-3-1 in every match and never used the 4-3-3. I made the 4-3-3 as a defensive style of the 4-2-3-1.

Everything in the 4-3-3 is just a copy of the 4-2-3-1 with the AMC moved to DM for extra defensive cover.

I hope this makes sense lol.

Well it turned out OK. After victories over Burnley (a) 2-0,  Man Utd (a) 2-0,  Bayer Leverkusen (a) 3-0, semi final 5-1 agg.

That left us with needing a win at home to Wolves to clinch the Premier League title and we did it with a 1-0 win. That left us champions with 4 games left for us and Man Utd have 3 games left, but they are 11 points behind us.

We have won the EPL and the CrappyOld Cup. We play AC Milan in the Europa League final and Wolves in the FA Cup final. So 2 wins and we will have made a clean sweep and the Quadruple, oh I also forgot we won the Charity Shield as well.

Nothing special tactically, squad wise I got rid of Luiz, Oil, Mustafi and Sokratis. Yes in Jan I brought in Upamecano and Rice. I will put up my tactics later as I have them on my other laptop.

The first thing I did was to list Ozil, Sokratis, Mustafi and Luiz and luckily enough they all actually sold, gobsmacked lol.

West Ham in bottom 3 without no win in 6 games, so I'm piling pressure on Declan Rice and it's  looking promising.

I've just started showing interest in Dayot Upamecano as well. Just got to wait till January to offer Donnarumma a contract as his contract runs out on 30/6/2021.
