  1. Not sure it qualifies, but I signed Pedro Chirivella on a free transfer from Liverpool. Playing as Antwerp, he's not only done brilliant for us, he's also worked his socks off in training. Been labelled the standout performer in training most every week, with ratings of +9 and the occasional 10. Very impressed with the kid. shame his performances attracted a lot of attention and we can't convince him to stay for a second season. On the upside, will have made +15m on selling him
  2. Will post a screenshot when I get home, but I picked up Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer (3 seasons in) looks like a very promising striker, for lower leagues especially. Not sure if he's been mentioned before, but Chirivella is great for lower leagues as well. Picked him up for free when Liverpool released him.
  3. Interestingly, I don't even know the answer to Q5
  4. If it wasn't for Prendergast, 2018 wouldn't have been the first time either Kidding aside, Brazil will always be one of those mythical teams to face. Much like Italy and Germany to an extent, even if they're not the same team they once were.
  5. Courtois is in there too, but Hazard should always make the squad.
  6. There was talk of a couple of Belgian players retiring from the NT after the world cup (Dembele being one of the rumoured ones) but none confirmed yet. Apart from Defour & Nainggolan (sigh), they won't play for us anymore.
  7. Mixed feelings for me, I think there's been some memorable games and a fair share of drama. Spain Portugal was great. Some giants being knocked out sooner than expected. VAR took some getting used to for me, you couldn't cheer immediately for a goal/penalty. As for our run, I'm quite proud of our best ever result in finishing 3rd. On the other hand I feel we really could and should've gone all the way. It's the first time our team really ticked, for which I credit Martinez. Kompany coming back to fitness surprised me as well, I fully expected him to be a 1 game wildcard. I'm too bitter
  8. Great work @Sons FC shame I was on holiday and couldn't complete the latter rounds. Congrats to the winners
  9. Well he's obviously a winger that we tried to convert to a wing back so defensively he's not going to be up to par with Meunier (who was a striker in the youth teams btw, but converted much sooner). IIRC he had the most distance covered of the entire team, which is logical on his position, but still. He's more of a threat going forward than he is a defensive asset though, that's for sure. His crossing, dribbling, shooting ability are the main reason he's in the team and frankly I'm not too unhappy about him. Against better sides I expect Witsel/Vertonghen to provide the necessary defensive ass
  10. Depends if you're purely talking results or not. Belgiums current crop are the most talented group of players we ever had. In terms of cold hard results on a major tournament, they're yet to deliver and it's maybe even the last chance for some of them. A few might retire from international football after this world cup.
  11. Yea honestly, if you look at our bench.. A lot of our "B-team" would quite comfortably make the starting XI in many other teams. Read some Italian journo saying they could build a team around Tielemans Batshuayi and have Nainggolan captain that side I sort of expect Januzaj to feature thursday as well. I'm just not sure who'd fill in for Meunier.. Alderweireld maybe?
  12. True. And you never know, those subs might come out with a point to prove. With most of the Eng/Bel players playing in the same league anyway, I can't imagine anyone will want to lose. Looking forward to thursday in any case.
  13. Not sure about that. There's talk of resting players on a yellow + players who picked up (minor) knocks. That includes Vertonghen, Hazard, Mertens, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Meunier I doubt we'll rest all 6 but still, it's likely we'll play a glorified b side. Which tbf Southgate admitted to looking into as well, depending on who finishes 1st/2nd in other groups.
  14. Wonder who we'll play against England. Martinez already said he'd be resting a few players so Glad that game doesn't matter anymore, but would still like to see us win. Actually not too fussed about our defensive 'issues' .. Think Boyata did decent, a few errors here & there but Kompany always makes 1 or 2 errors as well so. Carrasco & Meunier have put in great performances. Alderweireld & Vertonghen are solid. Who the hell cares we conceded 2 against Tunisia if you score 5 btw. I don't mind conceding 4 against Brazil if we manage to bang 5 in again
  15. As for Belgium, regardless of performances - these are individually the best players we ever had so I reckon this is our golden generation. There's talk of some of them quitting after this world cup, so the time to deliver is now.
  16. Which player will score the first goal? Fyodor Smolov How many goals will be scored in the Group stages in total? 125 How many goals will be scored in the tournament? 162 Who will be the top scorer for the Group stages? Neymar Who will be top scorer for the whole tournament? Lukaku How many hat-tricks will be scored in the tournament? 2 How many own goals will be scored in the tournament? 1 Who will score England's first goal? Kane How many goals will England score in the Group stages? 6 How many yellow cards will there be in the Group stages? 72
  17. That move from Batshuayi to set up Fellaini, lovely stuff.
  18. exactly, it's a great idea. It just needs to be finetuned somewhat, as it tends to go with new things being implemented. For instance I like that you can try to make promises to a newgen to try and sign him. Another fair point you make, I tend to have players coming through asking for three promises and even when i remove all of them they are happy to agree. Something that bugs me is how youngsters on 250 a week suddenly want an increase to 15000 a week for their new contract, although with regard to neymars transfer that may even be the new reality. Different discussion that th
  19. He played as CM with a support duty instead of advanced playmaker so irl on the pitch, that wouldn't be a huge difference. Especially for creative CMs, they tend to be moved around between AM-CM and different duties imo. Anyway, as I stated earlier, I now also refrain from making much promises. Certainly an area FM could improve in.
  20. I've had my star CM become unsettled and eventually leave because I'd promissed him I'd play him in the CM slot as an advanced playmaker. He played an entire season as CM, occasionally at AMC, but not with an AP role. A bit weird imo, no player irl is going to leave because of that. It's not like I played him at right back or something. I try to refrain from making promises as much I can these days. The only thing I'll gladly offer is a language course, cause I'm confident I can keep that promise
  21. Bit confused with promises to players myself. Especially the play in preferred position & strenghten squad.. Wonder how much time they actually have to play their preferred role, or how many attackers/defenders/midfielders of what reputation you need to sign (or already have fgs) to meet the requirements. Hope promisses get looked at for FM18 honestly.
  22. Brilliant, never even considered that as an option. Cheers for the explanation Hand of God
