  1. Oh well, at least Si is back to consistent. Thinking with FM23, we'd seen for the last time, every major update managing to break other areas of the game. Now it's back with a vengeance ! The newgens not working for one and no way from the settings to add a manager picture. The workaround for both is adding "r-" in the config file to each player and manager pic. Also all players in the game have the wrong hairstyles, hair colours and skin colour. You can change the hair colour and style with the IGE, which you have to pay for but not skin colour. To do that you need a more in depth editor, like FMRTE, which you also have to pay for. Surely, some at Si HQ run the modified game before release ?? If that's the case, why are such errors not reported to those that certify such a release to us players ???

  2. Thanks for the feedback guys. It's reassuring to hear that the third party FM community will not be shut out when it comes to enhancements and modifications.

A couple of things to note.  There will be a period of adjustment.

    1. Existing modders will need to explore what changes have been made and how they can continue to do what they do.  That might ultimately mean some stop entirely, as learning something new might be the something they aren't willing to do.  It will open up the door for new modders, however - either those who are already familiar with Unity, or those who were previously put off by the limitations of the existing system (or those who are completely new to the game and just want to try something out).
    2. As much as an engaged community is vital to a game, development under a new engine/framework shouldn't be limited by trying to accommodate existing modders.  Ensure that modding is still possible, but don't kneecap yourself by trying to maintain continuity with the old system.  People will learn how to mod.  Not all of them (see point 1), but enough will.

  3. It's good that we will be able to continue our career into FM2024 but my major concern regarding FM2025 is because it's a major re-write, it's surely inevitable that third party add-ons will come to an end ? It's these add-ons from the FM community that has made FM the immersive experience it has become. With new hard coding in FM2025, this will surely become a challenge too far and without sounding cynical could become a cash cow for Si, who would only released licensed and "official" add-ons and at a cost ?

Why it needs to be so cryptic who knows? What makes SI so special they are unable to post a changelog?

Now we have go scour through bug threads in coming days to hope they've touched something? Unreal. I know FM is a time sink but do you really need to waste our time here as well. The disrespect for customers and their time is monumental.

Another year of fake beta done. Another year without knowing of any critical data fixes or bug fixes that would require a new save because SI is the only developer on the planet that refuses to give patch notes when going from beta to 1.0.

What does it say at the top of the page ?? A minor update to the match engine, regarding goalkeepers, nothing else. That's your answer !

Hi. I was wondering wether anyone could help me. I've downloaded version 6.7 and followed all the instructions but it's still not working. Is there anything else I have to do after pasting those 2 files into the data directory? Thanks.

You clearly didn't read the instructions. Posting the two FOLDERS, not the enclosed files, into your data folder does work but to ensure stability you need to use the Resource Archiver from FM22, as the FM23 one will only be released with the full game. The idea is is to create new "simatch" and "simatchviewer-pc" files and post them back to the data folder. Everything is explained in the accompanying video. You need to start again.

@bartdude Ok you have confused me...

Ah ok, are you referring to the "Cinch Premiership".....

    :)

Indeed I am. You claimed SW won the "Premiership", when you should have said "Premier League". It grates on me because we thankfully got rid of Dinosaur Hodgson at Palace, who regularly referred to the Premier League as the Premiership. So when I see the same mistake I attempt to correct people with sarcasm, like not playing in Scotland or not a rugby team. No offence intended buddy and well done for getting The Owls to Premier League champions.

  7. Without hesitation. It's a silly question. The moaners will always moan and the dinosaurs will continue to play old editions, swearing blind they're the best but there's NOTHING out there that's remotely competitive to FM and it evolves with each new edition. This is not even a debate, it's just an excuse to bit*h.

  8. I watched this and the thing that really annoyed me was the first thing one of the guys did was increase the match highlights speed one notch up from real time. WHY ?? The net result was a hopelessly unrealistic simulation, looking like a 1920's silent movie with players moving around at high speed. You could see from the clock that the speed was unnaturally fast. The same happened with the FM21 preview. The match engine is looking good so far but I want to see it in REAL TIME.

  9. Typical stock responses from Si and assuming users are dumb. Surely these issues would be seen at Si HQ and the suggestions didn't work ?? It's time for the moderators to treat users with more respect and not give patronising responses, straight from a script. Whilst I appreciate there are some FM players who are totally clueless or don't read the forums but those are in the minority. In my experience EVERY anomaly I've experienced with FM was due to a fault with the game itself and never with how it was set up by myself. Naturally, these guys will attempt to defend their product to the hilt but clearly, more in-house testing needs to be done before and during the life of every edition of FM, especially after updates. An example that is STILL plaguing some users is a stuttering match engine, even at moderate graphics settings. It was eventually fixed in FM19 and FM20 but is still evident for too many in FM21.

  10. Excellent work as always Michael. I do have one request though. When a player is substituted he remains in the onfield 11 and the sub stays in the sub section rather than swapping out with the onfield player being substituted. For me it makes the screen look confusing and untidy. The default skin shows this correctly, so I'm confused as to why you changed it. I've looked at a few files where it says about players staying in the subs section but nothing I tried could rectify it. I'd like some guidance please.

  11. The thing I find annoying is how failures are repeated with most beta offerings. Surely these things should be noted so they don't recur. Even weirder is that the FM20 beta suffered from none of those that we had in FM19,18 and 17 but have resurfaced in FM21. Namely, changing camera angles on every reboot. However the worst one for me is the game crashing when attempting to watch the highlights of a division or competition. I get a crash dump after two, three or four highlights shown. Otherwise, the game runs great. It's fast, smooth and is streets ahead of what went before in terms of match engine animations. No doubt these issues will be sorted, given time. Oh yes and the IBH screen is a mess, showing info we don't need and lacking info we do, like a decent overview panel. Plenty of work for third party skin creators to get their teeth into, for sure.

Love some of the new animations, especially one GK at 2:45. That dink at 2:58 is also great to see.

Unless it's a consequence of posting video content online, the match graphics look hopelessly lagging, something that has been the curse of FM18, 19 and 20 for many of us out there, despite us owning high spec. machines. It was cured in FM18 and 19 but never solved in FM20. Si need to get it right with FM21 !
