  1. Read this thread and feel I am getting to grips with tactics on FM14. Early days in my Sheffield United save but we've recovered from an awful start and I've developed a system that is working better. We're moving up the table (just moved 5th) and I've just beaten the league leaders Brentford away by altering a few bits before and during the game. Before, I'd have cycled around saved tactics trying to find the one that worked. This time, I unpicked the lock and outplayed them. 3-1 at H/T and then, as they pushed on, I just held firm, saw it out and restricted them to nothing much than a few speculative long range efforts. I'm quite proud of myself. Now, to keep it up as I head for the other team at the top and Molineux.

Cheers for the excellent work, llama.

  2. I'd be interested. Would you do a commentary for each game? Would you be the manager and then pick the team? If so, we could then comment if you dropped us etc? Would that happen.

    Commentary = yes

Me as manager = I think so

Comments = yes (this could be the fun part)

    RE: comments - some ideas:

    - You'd have to decide how your player would comment - you could release some kind of media statement, you could 'Tweet' your comment or you could be professional and request a 'PM' meeting with me which I could then summarise in the updates.

EDIT: Has there ever been a CSE United?

  3. After my experiments with running sign-up's based on multiple teams with Top2Bottom, I realised that I do not have the time to dedicate to such a sign-up. Therefore, I have decided that I need a simpler set-up where I have less to focus on with my new sign-up. Apologies to those of you that were enjoying my T2B efforts but it was too much for me to carry on with ...

I really enjoyed the sign-up that somebody ran that tracked one team (a French one) and their squad of youngsters. It only lasted one season but it was fun. Focusing on one match at a time appeals to me.

So I am going to run a sign-up starting with a team in League 2. All the squad will be deleted as will the staff. They will be given a squad of 20-25 youngsters and will be tracked through their initial beginnings and onwards as they progress.

Their CA will be set to the average for League 2 and the players will be 18 years old.

Their PA will be set to 200 so that they could reach the top of the Premier League and further. However, this will require them to improve well enough over the seasons.

Would anybody be interested? It will be very, very simple!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the youngsters will of course be your players that you design for the game!

  4. Is not quite the same but have similarities with both.

I'm talking first to create a league like the MLS/NBA but in Europe. And what you can do is create your team and then draft all your players and staff. No transfer biddings just exchange.

I don't know, first of all I want to see if I can create this kind of league and then I will decide if I launch it.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for more signups since I'm not lucky enough to be in one. ;(

Right then, go for it. Creating a league from scratch takes some doing though. You have to create everything! Good luck.

First of all, sorry for the double posting.

What do you thing about a signup experiment about creating a managers in the game and tracking their career?

    Has been done before?

Various times. Canvey's 60 to 1 is the best example.

  5. I've an idea for a signup.

The idea is trying to create an NBA/MLS like league. Each participant will create a team and a chairman for the league and we will make a draft.

Then the game will start as holyday mode and the teams won't be able to buy or sell players for a fee superior of... 300k (?) and all the transfers will go as excahnge of players. Every 1st of January and 1 of July you will get and update of your team situation and you will have some time to agree some changes with the other managers.

There won't be youth system and the only way to have players will be using a draft as the NBA/MLS do.

I don't know if that is possible but I would like to know if you like the idea.

    Thanks

Both of these (top one is mine) are very similar. Mine includes a draft. I'm not saying don't do it but just giving you heads up that it's already being done in the forum right now. :D

  6. Has anyone said they are going to run a World Cup like someone did the other year yet? (I think it was WhoopyD but I can't be bothered to check!)

You know the one - where you get to decide on the tactics and squads etc ...

EDIT: weeeman27bob has on the last page. Any progress mate?

Right, weeeman says I can go for it instead. I will post the opening post ASAP so I can get 32 CSE forum members started. My aim is to run it parallel to the actual World Cup.

  7. well, here's the thing, if someone links me the 2009 version of the Real-Time editor, I could conceivably create a wrestling based sign-up revolving around along of careers in the manner of a FMX Factor. Add challenges like a Streak challenge, some kind of faction, some other stuff. Then do eliminations until the final 2 people meet in a 'match' at Footballmania!

    Sounds very, very good!

Someone link him the FMRTE someone!

  8. So guys, I've been thinking of getting my feet wet here by acutally putting on a sign-up and it's an idea that might come outta left field. As very few of you know, I am a very big fan of professiona wrestling and I got a crazy idea in my head. Basically it's called "Be The Man".

Ric Flair holds the record in America with the most world title wins with 16. This will be the football equvilent. I will create 16 forum users and place them on free deals in Europe to go to whomever signs them. All players will be age of 23, which is when Flair made his debut, so they will only be in the game world for around a decade.

Now, onto the scoring mechanism. Flair always said that to be the man, you gotta beat the man, so the quest will be for our players to rack up 17 total points on a scale that I have created for this.

League Team of The Year: 1 point

World Team of the Year: 2 points

League Player of the Year: 1 Point

World Player of the Year: 3 Point

If you have earned more than 17 points, congrats, you beat the man, but did you beat your opponents. The player with the most points at the time everyone retires will be crowned the champion.

I know it seems out there, but does anyone think that I could get some interest for this?

Like it. I considered a WWE / FM tie up once but never got round to it.

But didn't you know? John Cena is the man. Or at least that's what folk want us to believe!

  9. I was on the FMS forum and reading their community stories over there and I had an idea to create something on CSE that does a similar thing to get all the CSE regulars into a sort of story type sign up thing - but a little bit of a different feel to it. Instead of you creating a player in-depth, you just give me some random facts about yourselves (i.e. likes and dislikes, phobias, just random stuff) that could be used in a story that runs from FM ... so it'd be a signup but not really a sign-up if you catch my drift. It'd be able to be all light-hearted and 'interactive' ... Any thoughts?
