  1. 17/18 Preseason Transfers Outgoing were some big names like Braithwaite and Kiyotake resulting in 14.1 million in sales. Alot of this was used to offset the wage budget to allow me to work the free agent market. Both my rotation left backs were sold leaving me weak in that position but they were both not getting any better and keen for more playing time. Kana Biyik just up and left for no real reason, just said he wont be signing on. A whopping 1.5 million was spent but the squad received quite an overhaul! Wingers Arnautovic and Lozano came in for free allowing the departure of Braithwaite. Celtic hard man Johansen will play as my CM/D to give Didot a break and rotate for the rest of his career. Mcnair and Rolin were brought in as CD rotation/cover. Neither look spectacular but will do a job domestically. Defence is looking really poor so another European massacre is on the cards if I can't strengthen it. Henrique is an exciting Brazilian wonderkid whom I hadnt heard about until his agent came knocking. Played well in pre season but being young will work him in slowly with Dost remaining the head striker for now. Ducksch was brought in as a budget offensive outlet who will play behind Dost. Filip and Kulakov round out the signing as full backs. Filip will jump ahead of Sylla on the left and Kulakov will be 3rd choice behind and ageing Ninkov on the right. Friendlies So here's hoping for another good season in Ligue 1!
  2. I sold him in the first season. All of Europe's heavy weights were after him and I got sick of being pestered!
  3. Season 16/17 Review I haven't been able to play FM for long time but finally managed to bust out another season for the Purple and Whites. It was a tough year! Ligue 1 is tough and very competitive and I feel you really battle for every point! Transfers: I tried but couldn't keep hold of Ben Yedder! He was a pretty massive loss and went to Aston Villa for 16.5 million. Uros Spajic also departed for 4.5 million to RBL now in the Bundesliga after promotion. Of the 21 million we generated in sales I spent 14.4 million. I feel overall the money was well spent Ben Yedders goals were replaced by unwanted Wolfsburg poacher Bas Dost. He took a while to get going but got into a groove netting 24 goals Signing of the year had to be Konstantin Rausch for free! Snap him up guys, he is unbelievable!! 14 goals and 12 assists from the wing is a great return. I'm hoping to go through the Darmstadt thread to see what people think of him. Toulouse lack a set piece weapon and he fills the void nicely. Sime Vrsaljko was my most expensive signing but he failed at Chelsea and was available for a good price. Replacing the ageing Ninkov, Sime returned 1 goal and 7 assists and was MotM 6 times. He has some anger issues and saw red twice but boy can he put in shift! Alex Galvez was a bit of a flop. He scored an own goal on debut and the fans never really got off his back. I used him for the run in at the end of the season and he did ok. Kiyotake was brought in to compete with Trejo and saw the Argentine play much better football. Another average signing and I wish I had saved my money. Will look to move on, but Trejo will be leaving for free so he might get another chance! Casteels was made available right at the deadline and I had just enough to bring him in. An upgrade at GK with room to grow, should be a bargain Europe We made the last qualifier for the Champions league and of all teams we drew Porto. I underestimated them tactically and went on the offensive only to be 2-0 down within 20 mins. I switched to the counter tactic but the damage was done and we lost 6-4 on agg over two legs. This meant we played the Euro cup and did great in the group stage. Then we drew Tottenham in the knockout and it was a bloodbath. We were never even in it and went out 7-1 !! Embarrassing! Summary PSG are just unstoppable. They spent 150 million in the first window on the likes of Laporte, Blind, Payet and Wanyama. Really feels like you are playing for second at times. OM were back to being a great team again as were Lyon Lille had a shocker finishing 16th! There were some surprising names popping up for unlikely teams like Santi Mina at Guingamp. Angers has Piazon, Sanogo and Reine Adelaide on loan! It was a fun but gruelling season even though I was knocked out of both domestic cups at the first fixtures (embarrassing again!) The upcoming 3rd season could be a hard slog and the Ben Yedder money is long gone. I don't really have anyone worth much that has interest. I need some generosity from the board but I think failing to qualify for the champions league will cripple us financially. My wage budget is bursting at the seams aswell! I have enjoyed reading through the other saves you guys are playing. IRL Toulouse escaped relegation on the final day which was pretty awesome. Ben Yedder had a blinding season and is surely destined to move on!
  4. Funny you ask Gungner. He was one of my main reasons for choosing Toulouse. Is he well liked by Danes?
  5. SEASON 15/16 REVIEW (PART 2) JAN WINDOW Out: Jean Daniel Akpa-Akpro - Benfica 8 million Alban Lafont - Chelsea 2.1 million IN: Emmanual Badu - Udinese 1.2 million. Badu a cheaper version of Akpa-Akpro so pretty much replaced him. FINAL LADDER A great second half of the season but despite holding 2nd for quite a while we ended up third. The big teams got better but couldn't overcome the bad starts they had. The cups were a nightmare but we could have done without them for the run in anyway. Hopefully next season will be better! Ben Yedder and Doumbia got in the team of the season! Doumbia scored goal of the season, a belter from 35 yards. My laptop wont encode it unfortunately. All in all a fantastic season, highly recommend giving Toulouse a try!
  6. SEASON 15/16 REVIEW I finally managed to pull myself away from the Bundesliga for my first foray into France since FM13 with OM. Prior to FM16's release I had pencilled in a save with a Ligue 1 side and I loved the look of the Toulouse squad! They have been an absolute shambles in real life so here's my stint as manager! TACTICS (HOME/WEAKER OPP) Control/Fluid, start Standard if away from home or against the big boys at home. Higher tempo, Balanced width, Clear to flanks, Pass into space, Look for overlap, More direct passing. I'm happy to lose the possession battle in favour of a faster, direct approach utilising decent pace out wide. TACTICS (AWAY/TOUGHER OPP) Counter/Structured Close down much more, Prevent short GK, Get stuck in, Pass into space, More direct passing, Hit early crosses. Keeping a normal line we look to harass the opponent into giving us the ball, then rely on the offensive unit to make the most of any chances we get. Transfers Sold Mihai Romas for free to get his wages off the books. I opted not to spend any of the 3 million budget. The board purchased a young striker named Thomas Berthelot for 100k from Tours FC. In 30 games for the U19s he has 18G, 10A 7.54 rating so could be promising. Teams are sniffing around Ben Yedder and Akpa-Akpro but i have managed to hold onto both so far. TABLE (HALF WAY MARK) We are doing well but the league is a tight race so far with anyone's guess who will take 3rd place. PSG and St Etienne have bolted clear but other heavy hitters Monaco and OM have both sacked managers and flirted with the relegation spots until recently. Lyon poor aswell so far. Too many draws for us but better than losing! GENERAL MUSINGS! I was offered a new contract already, which is a first for me so early on! Budget remained the same at Jan transfer window despite asking for more. Ben Yedder is one of the best strikers in Ligue 1 so try to keep him........i'll start listening to offers over 15 mill! Oscar Trejo requires micromanagement off the pitch. Moans if he misses a single game or is subbed early! Playmakers are a luxury it seems in FM16 with so much wide play keep your eyes peeled for interested buyers.....in the meantime keep him happy! Tongo Doumbia has a beast of a shot and has a knack of belting one in when you need it! I use him over Akpa-Akpro. Etienne Didot is the glue that keeps your midfield from gifting chances to the opponent. Use him as a CM/D and let the engine type player do the running. An option at set pieces also. Jean Daniel Akpa-Akpro seems to never get fully fit and gets jaded when played regularly. Nurture him where possible and don't over rely on him. Pavle Ninkov bombs quality crosses in all game. Get him forward and reap the rewards. Begging for a target man! Keep them low for Ben Yedder! Jean Armel Kana Biyik lacks height but has the strength and speed to have opposition strikers begging to be subbed off! Mauro Goicoechea has a 1.1 mill release clause. Hasn't been tested yet but his value shoots up if you use him. Keep an eye on it! Alban Lafont is a promising young GK. If you aren't the patient type 2 mill or more could bolster your transfer kitty. Play hard ball! AML Position lacks true depth but can be covered with Somalia and Regattin. Look to bolster if funds come available, could even be your first big name signing! GO ON! Give Toulouse a go...........what have you got to lose!! (I'll see myself out..) Second half of season to come when i finish it. Thanks for reading! Fantastic thread Jogo Bonito! Top job!
  7. I wasnt! Haha thats pretty awesome! Thanks for the info
  8. Celtic Season 2 13/14 This is a recap of how my next season played out! 2nd Tactic added With the departure of Wanyama I added a 2nd tactic that was a bit more attacking and could make use of Rogic better after he had a good first season. Pity he would be on the injury table alot this campaign! Transfers Budget 12 million. Out: Wanyama to Benfica for 10mill. I was holding out for more but it wasnt coming. Linked with half of Europe but on they made an offer. Various youth out on loan. In: Jonas Svensson 500k. I needed some hard working cover for my midfield and JS fit this bill nicely. Also gives me a more creative outlet. David Stockdale 1.3 mill. If Forster goes down, you're pretty much boned, so I signed some great cover. Wages a bit expensive. Nicolas Tagliafico 6 mill. Left back was a weakness and I couldnt get Gershon back on loan. A big dollar signing but looks the business! Ivica Poljak 3.5 mill. A croatian Regen. Denied a work permit but then Croatia joined the EU! Can play all accross the centre. Should cover left and right flanks as required. Mcdonald Mariga Free. Replaces Wanyama in front of the back four. Always nice when you dont have to spend a transfer fee! Various regens that look OK. Scottish Premier League A much tougher campaign that last year. We had a lot of draws. Injuries hit pretty hard and with an intense schedule being in all competitions some weak teams were sent out. Aberdeen were average! Champions League Qualifying Round 2 Honefoss 3-0 win Home, 4-2 win away Qualifying Round 3 CSKA Sofia 7-0 win Home, 5-0 win away. Breezed through! Qualifying Playoffs Maribor 4-0 win Home, 3-1 win Away Group H Chelsea 3-0 win Home, 1-1 draw away Schalke 1-0 win Home, 1-0 win away. Zenit 2-1 win Home, 2-1 loss Away Finished with an amazing 13 points. Chelsea second with 10 points. Knockout Round 1 Arsenal 4-0 win Home, 3-2 loss Away Quarter Finals Marseille 4-1 win Home, 2-1 loss away. Semi Finals Manchester United 2-0 win Home, 4-1 loss away. Another awesome campaign. This time the red side of Manchester knocked us out. We just couldn't get the ball and thus didn't get many shots on goal. League Cup We faced Motherwell in the Final and it took extra time to knock them off 1-0. Scottish Cup Knocked out in the 5th Round by lowly Alloa 2-1! The lads copped a roasting in the team talk! Main 11 Review Forster: Solid again. Rotated quite alot with Stockdale but still played 41 games. 7.06 rating conceded 22 goals. Coleman: First full season with us. His stamina makes him a real asset. 7.21 rating, 6 assists. Tagliafico: A good first year for our most expensive transfer. 7.24 rating, 5 assists. Mulgrew: Not as deadly as last year but still did a great job. 7.62 rating, 6 goals, 12 assists. Ambrose: Another good year at the back. Had to play as an Anchor man a few times due to injuries/suspensions. 7.64 rating, 9 goals from corners! Mariga: Had an Ok season but got injured a fair bit. Missed out on some games for tactical reasons. 7.11 rating Commons: Spent some time on the injury table. Reliable from the spot again and for the most part had a good season. 7.23 rating, 7 goals, 7 assists. Matthews: Had another solid year with those raids down the right. 7.35 rating, 6 goals, 19 assists (impressive for a non set piece taker!) Ledley: Was more productive this season and played really well. 7.45 rating, 7 goals, 8 assists. Brown: Had an injury plagued year but put in a good shift as always when he was on the pitch. 7.20 rating, 8 goals. Hooper: Much better this season. Didnt matter which tactic I used, he knows how to score. 7.69 rating 35 goals! Notable Squad Players Watt: Another good year off the bench and as a rotational striker. 7.45 rating, 22 goals. Rogic: Spent alot of the season injured, Dropped from the Australia squad so I cant offer him a better deal. Could be on the move but hopefully not. 7.10 rating from just 16 games but scored 10 goals! Svensson: Played more than I would have though because of injuries. Advanced Play maker support. Threaded some nice passes and generally played well. 7.52 rating, 9 assists, 7 man of the match, led the SPL! Rogne: Another good year as a rotational defender. Good to have for corners. 7.50 rating, 6 goals. Kayal: Nothing special but dependable when partnered with Svsnsson in the midfield. 7.05 rating. Poljak: Pretty good first year. Got a lot of loan offers for him but decided to use him in the first team as cover. 7.11 rating, 9 assists. McGeouch: Used as deep cover for the right wing and midfield. Only got 10 starts. 7.14 rating, 3 goals, 3 assists. Samaras: A beast again. Started 24 games as Commons was injured alot. 7.41 rating, 10 goals, 12 assists. Forrest: Another year with barely any games. Got the fitness bug where he doesn't get much fitter so missed out on games. Good to watch when he's on form. 7.08 rating, 9 assists. Bangura: Returned from loan. Whinged about everything. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Scored 1 goal, will hopefully be moved on! Toshney: I started to Blood this guy a bit. The only youth to get some decent games. Played at RB and CB. Started 17 games. 7.16 rating. Wilson: Played well. Used as cover for Ambrose, who didnt miss many games so limited opportunities. 7.24 rating.
  9. Celtic Season 1 12/13 Latest Patch Heres how my Celtic save has unfolded so far. I must say this has been my favorite save on this years FM! Main Tactic The thing I love most about the squad Celtic have is their ball busting non stop midfielders so my tactic was built around their ability to win the ball back and contribute in all phases of play. Play style is always Fluid and more often than not I use an Attacking strategy. I will switch to control for the Champions League home games and Counter for the away games. For tougher away games in the SPL I start off with Control. The sliders I change are: Passing style: More Direct Closing Down: Press More Marking: Zonal Crosses: Drill Defensive Line: Push Up Width: Normal Tempo: Quick Focus Passing: Mixed Target man is ticked with the Run onto ball option. First Eleven GK: Forster G/D RB: Lustig FB/Auto LB: Izzaguirre FB/A CB: Mulgrew CD/X CB: Ambrose CD/C CDM: Wanyama A/D ML: Commons WM/S MR: Matthews W/A MCL: Ledley B2B/S MCR: Brown BWM/S (Captain) S: Hooper Poacher Transfers Seamus Coleman 2.4mill Second Transfer Window. Replaces Lustig as first choice RB Various youth sent on loan. Scottish Premier League We had a good run as expected. Aberdeen were neck and neck into the 40 points mark but we eventually broke away. League losses were both away from home. Ross County and Dundee United. Biggest win was 7-0 away to St Mirren. Champions League This is where we unexpectedly really played well. I was really shocked at how well we played in the CL as there arent really any easy games once you get to the group stage. Qualifying 3rd Round: Sloven Liberc 5-0 win Home, 1-1 draw Away Qualifying Playoffs: CFR Cluj 3-1 win Home, 1-0 win Away Group D: FC Bayern 3-1 Win Home, 1-0 loss Away Valencia 3-0 win Home, 0-0 draw Away Ajax 4-2 win Home, 1-1 draw Away Finished top of the group with 11 Points, Bayern 2nd on 10 Points. Knockout Round 1 Dortmund 1-1 draw away, 3-0 win Home Quarter Finals Shakhtar 3-0 win Home, 2-0 loss away Semi Finals Manchester City 2-0 loss Home, 2-1 win away. A really awesome run. We were unlucky at home again Man City and just couldnt get it done away, despite winning the game. Scottish Cup We faced Hearts in the final and won the game 1-0. League Cup Hearts again in the final with a 3-0 win. Main 11 Review Forster: A brick wall between the sticks, not sure if we can hang onto him. Already making noise about wanting to move to a bigger club. 7.05 rating Lustig/Coleman: Both were good at what they do, nothing spectacular offensively. 7.08 / 7.11 rating Izzaguirre: Once again, did his job but most of our attacks came down the right side. 7.25 Mulgrew: Scored several goals and set some up with his devastating free kicks. 7.50 rating 10 Goals! Ambrose: Solid at the back. Knocked in a couple goals from corners. 7.43 rating Wanyama: Defensive midfielders dont seem to get good ratings for me. did his job but not as dominating as in real life. Might have done better as a CM helping out the attack. 7.18 rating. Making noise about leaving all season! Commons: Awsome season down the left. Reliable from the penalty spot. Good all round player. 7.31 rating 14 goals Matthews: Player of the season for me. Focal point for most of our attacks. Dont waste him at RB. Laser guided crosses and mazy runs though the defence. 7.29 rating, 6 goals 21 assists. Ledley: Solid if unspectacular. Would have liked more goals from him with his late arrival into box PPM. 7.10 rating, 3 goals. Brown: Bossed the midfield. A wrecking ball to opposition players, definitely forced a few substitutions! 7.47 rating, 10 goals. Hooper: Had a great season but niggling injuries meant he missed a fair few games. 7.34 rating, 20 goals, 7 assists. Notable squad players: Watt: Wow, lucky we have this guy as when Hooper cant play Tony Watt bangs em in for fun. Used as an Advanced Forward/Attack. 7.39 rating 22 goals. Samaras: If I had my season over I might have started him over Commons. Its a tough choice but the big Greek was a beast when he played. 7.55 rating, 14 goals. Rogic: Played a lot more than I though, but never at his natural CAM, always a CM/Attack. He did complain a bit but had a great year. Might force a tactical rethink. 7.19 rating, 8 goals, 10 assists. Rogne: Great defender but didnt get too many games. 7.60 rating from 14 matches. Forrest: Frustrating, injury prone. Was great when he could string a few games together. 6.93 rating, 3 goals 2 assists. A great season overall. I highly recommend giving Celtic a go while you wait for FM 14 !
  10. Thanks alot! My current budget is 66,000 lol. I am waiting to sit down with the board but am not expecting much as I overspent already! We got a 4 year sponsorship worth a paltry 65,000 a year, so no money coming from that!
  11. Season 1 Winter Break to Seasons End Summary The board were obviously happy with how things were going and decided to let me splash some cash! I had already spent 4 mill of the initial 8.4 mill budget and as the Window opened spent the rest and then some on monthly installments (I usually do a 50/50 split with half in cash and half on payment for transfers over 5mill). Transfer Summary It might be a bit hard to read so heres a breakdown of the big moves and how they did (Avg Rating/Goals) : Jano (Spartak) - Was on my shortlist and was surprisingly transfer listed. 2 mill seemed like a good deal for a young versatile attacker. 6.89 / 1 Jorge Enriqez (Chivas) - The defensive midfielder I was looking for. They bled me pretty good on this one for 11 mill but Im hoping he pays off in Europe next season! 7.14/0 Olexiy Kurilov (Vorskla) - A much need Ukrainian defender after the departure of Obide. Probably my best signing and highly recommended. Cost 11 mill. 7.56/0 Erik Sviatchenko (CFR Cluj) - An odd one this as I didn't realize he had already moved once already so he couldn't play for me! Cost 3 mill. Should be good for next season! Denys Boyko (Kyiv 2) - Maybe a controversial signing as I already signed a decent keeper. He Ukrainian and hes the business between the sticks. For 1.4 mill you cant go wrong. 7.17 Concede 5 in 10 games. Adryan (Flamengo) - Picked him up for 875k, one for the future. He got a bad injury and never got more than a few friendly games. Matheus was offloaded back to Brazil for 2 mill, pretty good I though given his age and wages! Final League Table I won the league by 8 points despite a few stumbles, namely losing at home 1-0 to Dynamo Kyiv (A classic FM rip off where I dominated!!) and Shakhtar at home 1-0. The other big 3 stumbled too often losing games they should have been winning. Whilst it was good to win the league it feels a bit hollow since I didn't really put many teams to the sword and relied on good defense to win 1-0, 2-0, that and the big 3 playing poorly. But we are Champions either way! Metalurg ZP were the surprise of the season! Thoughts A good season overall! Konoplyanka got injured a fair bit and missed most of the second half of the season which was a disappointment and definitely noticed his absence. Jano got a few more games than he would have otherwise! Rotan was also injured for the second half of the year. Away I played a ball busting midfield of Boateng and Enriquez, at home Babenko stepped in to pass it around. Zozulya was my best player of the season. He covered Konoplyanka on the left and still knocked a few in, finishing with 10 goals all up. Played AMC mostly though. Andrada was a good signing and did well until Boyko came into the side. He will be my backup next season if I cant pry Rybka from Shakhtar. Seleznyov was pretty awesome even with his bad finishing stat (9) ! He got 17 goals in all comps and led the league domestically. Used as DLF-S. Missed multiple penalties though Giulaiano was pretty good but I wanted more from him. Will possibly be a backup if I make a move for Roman Bezus (if the board gives me more money!) Season Awards
  12. Season 1 Summary through to the Winter break in my first season. Well I couldnt resist and abandoned my Bayern Munich and Dynamo Kyiv saves to make a start with Dnipro. The starting squad is pretty good and it does really feel like a "squad" rather than a starting 11 and some ring ins which is a good thing. Dnipro 2 has some players you should promote to the main squad like Inkoom (to cover RB till Fedetskyi is fit). The board does insist that you play attractive attacking football, and with the squad you have its very easy to accomplish, especially at home. This league is tougher than you think, and the likes of Metalurg D and Illichivets will send you to the locker room in tears if you think you can prance in with your all out attack in their backyards! This is my main tactic I use with my preferred starting 11: I use "Drill Crosses" and tone down everyone's Long Shots, with the exception of Aliev if he is in the team. For tricky away games I drop the AM C and use a DMC, Boateng as an Anchor man if hes available and use a balanced counter attack. Transfers: Despite a hefty budget I didnt really bring too many players in. I addressed the GK situation and later got former Zenit youngster Luka Djordavic on a free. I approached Basel keeper Yann Sommer, but he was not interested in a move to Ukraine. As the season progressed, my biggest regret was not bringing in another DM to cover Boateng. I would love to get Tymoschuk from Bayern, but Im not sure if it can be pulled off! The schedule as Dnipro gets very hectic with the Europa league and the domestic cup so if you aren't happy with aspects of your squad be sure to bring people in. I also recommend getting another Central Defender. My domestic season looks like this as we go into the Winter Break: Goal scoring is spread pretty evenly which is OK, but I do like a striker that bangs them in. I use my DLF as support which costs them a few goals I guess. Defensively I have been OK but its the side of the game I have always struggled with tactically. Standout players are Zozyula and Seleznyov offensively. Odibe is a beast defensively and I wish he was mine to keep! Konoplyanka has been OK but since I play him as a winger his production is probably down a bit. If I did my season over again I would probably try play Giuliano as AMC and see if it made a difference. He is wasted a bit Outside on the right, but still plays OK with the odd flash of brilliance. With Zozulya being a youngster and not as good out of position he got the nod. Europa League: This was a bust like I knew it was going to be. I had an absolute cracking game to qualify against Sloven Liberc that I won 5-4 away. On the home leg I put them away 3-1 to get to the group stage. I was pretty unlucky with my group getting Inter and Anji aswell as PAOK whom I got my only 6 points off. Inter slaughtered me and Yuri Zhirkov (Anji) schooled me like no other player in my long CM/FM history. I got pretty lucky with injuries when I played the big teams with the likes of Etoo and Sneijder missing but they were just too good. Inter I knew would wreck me, but I thought I would have a crack at Anji, but alas no. With all my Ukrainian saves I really don't enjoy the European competitions. I think you have to be very good tactically and have some luck go your way! Summary/Thoughts: I have been pretty lucky in the league as the big 3 all got off to slow starts. Metalist were garbage early on but are doing well now. Shakhtar drew too many games otherwise would be top by a mile. Kyiv lost a lot of games and are slowly coming good but too far gone I feel. Roman Bezus has only played 12 games so Vorskla are near the bottom. If you want to cripple them try and buy him. He is a cracking player and Ill be looking at him myself. Matheus has barely been a factor for me in FM 13. Like LFC7 says, you could look at selling him as he is 3rd string at striker and he is on big wages. I regret not doing so and will look at moving him on. Denisov was the subject of bids around 7.5 mill so there is money to be made if you can find a cheaper back up to cover Strinic. Mandyzuk is in the same boat. If you trust Inkoom as cover you could move him on to bolster the transfer kitty. You definitely need a No 1 GK so shop around before hitting that first Continue. If you play with a DM or tough tackling midfielder bring in Cover for Boateng. Ive had him injured and suspended and Cheberyachko is average as a DM and likely needed in defence. Highlight (and low light since they are my fave team IRL) was beating Kyiv 3-0 at there place. Andrada had a blinder stopping 6 shots for the shutout. Shot count DK 19/6 Dnipro 9/4 (3 goals) Ill do an update once I complete my season.
  13. Good post! Dnipro was my 2nd favorite save in FM12 after my Dynamo Kyiv save. The Ukrainian league is great to play in and Dnipro are almost "plug and play" with little tinkering required to begin your domination! I hope to be able to contribute to this thread but I was late buying FM this year and have a couple other saves to try first. Disappointing to hear Matheus didn't produce for you. He was scoring for fun as a poacher for me last year, but a little injury prone.
  14. Season 3 We won the league again, reasonably convincingly in the end. We got off to a shocking start and were sitting 11th after 5 games. Poor finishing and drawing a couple of the better teams were to blame. Lots of the start players complained about our league position, but I told them to take a chill pill and all would be well. We got knocked out of the cups before the quarters. The second string guys played ok, but were unlucky to lose. The champions league was a disater again. Once again we got Barcelona in our group, making it 3 times in 3 seasons. We got Olimpiakos and Fenerbache, which in real life would be a nightmare as they are tough places for the away fixtures. We got through but draw Bayern Munich in the knockout round. We went out 1-0 on aggregate so I was happy overall but would love to get past that fixture eventually. Somehow Glasgow Rangers went on a mission and cleaned up the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal to make the final losing 4-3 to Man Utd. International Offers I was offered to Australia job before the season began. Despite knowing the team well as I reside there I turned it down. Part way into the season I was offered the France job, which I took! I only had one game against Germany which I lost 2-1. I haven't done any International jobs in FM for years so this was a nice change. Transfers In: Konoplyanka (Dnipro) 13mill Corchia (Sochaux) 15mill Bassong (Tottenham) 7mill Kagawa (Dortmund) Free A few more regens signed. Konoplyanka was going to play as a left winger in my new wider formation, but things didnt work out so he backed up Remy and played pretty awesome. I knew him from my Dnipro save and like him IRL. Bassong was a monster and my best player depite mainly covering the LB position when Morel went down a few times. Corchia played OK covering the RB position. Kagawa did well covering Ben Arfa and boosting shirt sales abroad! Out Saliou Ciss 2.5mill Shaquiri 15mill De Bruyne Loan to Blackburn Various no names released. The Shaquiri offer came out of the blue and I wasnt sold on my new wide strategy so I went back to my usual 5 man midfield and never looked back! No goal of the season award this year
  15. Season 2 Summary After a solid first season in charge of OM I was keen to have another good season. Overall I think it went well, only hampered by a tough Champions League draw with Barcelona in the group stage and then Man Utd in the first knock out round. United went on to play in the final, thus knocking me out 3-1 on agg. We were pretty much outplayed at Old Trafford and could only manage a draw at home. I think if we had drawn any other team apart from them or Real Madrid (eventual winners) we would have got further. We won the league in a canter which was great. Lyon didnt set the pace they had in my first season and PSG were awful again, sacking yet another manager. Lille were in the mix but surprise package Caen were pushing everyone early before faltering in the last couple of months dropping from 3rd to 6th. I mainly used my 4-1-3-1-1 formation but after hammering Barcelona 6-2 it seemed to lose some effectivness. Whilst I perservered with it by tweaking a few things I wasnt overly happy. Xherdan Shaquiri was ready for some First team action so in the second half of the season I started using a 4-5-1 Fluid/Attacking that seemed to go pretty well. Defensively we were insanely good. To end the season I think we allowed 1 goal in 11 games in all competitions. Transfers: I spent on French players to bolster the squad bringing in 2 big names. In: Marvin Martin - 15mill Hatem Ben Arfa - 7.75mill Xherdan Shaquiri - 3.2mill I also bolstered the youth team with some pretty good looking regens. Out: Granit Xhaka - Contract Termination as he was hating life at OM Man City offered my asking price of 25mill for Andre Ayew but he turned them down saying he couldnt leave OM ! Stats: Goals: Loic Remy 18. Finished 3rd behind Gamiero and a revitalized Frau. Assists: Azpilicueta / Morel 7 each. Hamouma from Caen led with 13. MoM: Morel 7. Finished 3rd behind Gamiero and Modeste (lol). Ben Arfa had 3 MoM from 14 games, pretty awesome! Goal of the Year: He's at it again! Team of the Year We did well again with our Iron Curtain defence starring. Season 3 Outlook We will likely be losing Lucho, Fanni and Cheyrou meaning some youngsters will be moved into the first team. I am tempted to try and bring in Eden Hazard and use a wide formation, but I may just bolster the central midfield by going after M'Vila or Sissoko depending on my budget. Hopefully Marvin Martin will improve as he hasnt lived up to his price tag as yet. I hope to have better luck in Europe as I think we are in that top 8, just have to avoid the big boys early on!
