  1. Yes. I think it’s a more generic problem. It would be very demanding if you want your DLF to drop deep and create and also score
  2. @NineCloudNine But the whole idea of using a central striker in a supporting role is to promote link up play. They are not meant to be the primary goal scorer. You use them to open up space for other attackers. In my case the F9/DLF is opening space for my IF and CM to attack
  3. @toshimitzou1 I will give it a try. I’ll watch a few matches in full to see what is happening. It’s possible that there aren’t enough players attacking the wide area.
  4. I didn’t want my players taking too many shots from low quality chances. So wouldn’t taking it off encourage my players to shoot more? I understand that Wbib has it’s negative effects, but I have tried to balance that out with MBE I have given him the stay wider PI, so he sort of plays like that. Haven’t tried him as W, will give it a try I have been pretty much tempted to this. But my concern is that both Vitinha and Claudio are not great defensively to cover for him if required. Might get overrun on that flank? He is my primary goal scorer, so I was automatically inclined to play him on attack. Wouldn’t playing him on support make him look for pass more than going for goals? I will try the other suggestions given for LCM and DM. Any specific reason why we don’t want him to be CM(A)? We essentially want him to get into the space vacated by the forward - so wouldn’t CM(A) be the ideal candidate here? Thanks for the suggestions @toshimitzou1, I will give them a try
  5. I have been using a 4-3-3 setup with a False 9 on my FM 22 save with Wolfsburg. Have been using 4-4-2 or its variants over the last few seasons, but some of the recent signings have allowed me to switch over to a 4-3-3 setup from the start of the season. I was using the above setup (image 1) until recently, and in the last couple of games I have made some tweaks (image 2) by dropping some instructions and changing few roles. Half way through the season, we are sitting at 6th in Bundesliga and have progressed from the UCL group which included Milan and Barcelona (yes we beat both of them). What bothers me is the quality of chances we have been creating and the mixed results. On an average we generate around 2xG per match, but that comes with around 18-20 shots on goal. Most games we have a xG per shot ratio of around 0.1 - 0.2, and we are not able to create clear cut chances (high xG chances) regularly. Looking at the xG table we are supposed to sit at 3rd in the league now, but I feel that it is a bit misleading. We are racking up xG in some games with a lot of low quality shots. And often we end up losing to teams who tend to crowd the box. I am not able to figure out why we are unable to create good quality chances. The overall idea is to use the striker (F9) to drop deep and create space for the left IF and the late runs from the CM (A). Recently I felt that I’m over doing things, so decided to do some tweaks (second image). I changed the F9 to a DLF(Su) and changed the AP to CM(su) give more freedom to the striker who is dropping deep. The results over the last two games has been good, but I still don’t feel happy about the quality of chances we are creating. Looking for some suggestions to improve the quality of chances created with this setup.
