HI.
I have just taken a new look at these 3, and after raising some attributes they now have this CA level in the live database:
Thomas: CA xxx
Wright: CA xxx
Schmiedl: CA xx
Please use the spoiler function, when posting CA/PA on these forums.

Isn't that the whole point of Beta?
1. Get to see the game early.
2. Be a part of the public testing.
It's understandable that you aren't having fun but unfortunately you cannot expect that in the Beta. There will be major and minor bugs which are being worked on by SI which might take a long time to release.
Indeed it is.
But we all saw what happended last year.
The release version of the match engine was many steps down from the beta version.

Are there any plans for a pre release ME patch?
I know you are working hard to fix all the bugs. But i'm at a state where i can't Beta Test anymore. The ME is taking all the fun out of the game for me.

It's down to the league rules, in the country you are playing in.

Playing with 2 CM's( No DM or AM) i see that the game often recommend one of the CM's to be a B2B, would that not leave the ramaining CM a little alone?
(Playing a flat 442, with wing play)

Anchor version:
Currently testing:
Untick "use offside trap"

going pretty good so far.

The first tactic is still the best, the two new ones makes the whole tactic fall apart.

It is in OP but was added later so you may have missed it 1 st time round.

Cool i will try it next season.
Think i did pretty good with West Brom, close to CHL with one game left. Hope away games will be better next season.

Did you identify any particular problems away? Conceding from any particular area?
Yeah i would say that in both home and away games, 75% of the goals come from a deep midfield pass past my defenders and their strikers scoring one on one.
So 2 solutions, sit deeper or stop the pass from their midfield . i will try the first, because i dont know how to fix the second one :-D
i Think the problem is, both CD is stopper, so they push high up + a much higher def line, it's just to high

May be better to try 3 at back away.
Well then it's not a 442, the system is the most important for me, i just dont download the best tactic and use that, if i dont like the system.
Nest season i try to play counter away and switch the WB to S and a much deeper def line.

I'm enjoying the game a lot (as usual), but I have to agree with one main thing: The Match Engine.
Since its introduction in 2009, it simply hasn't changed all that much. Sure, its finetuned and has some new animations, but in 9 (!) years it looks almost the same:
Check this compilation of the ME from 2009 to 2017
I'm aware the engine isn't FM's selling point, and I'm not expecting video-realistic movement, but it's currently not looking much better than FIFA98; a game that came out 20 years ago. Especially now that the 2D view is very much phased out, SI really needs to step up its game in that regard.
I'm gonne quote myself from another thread:

3D Engine. SEGA team, you clearly have access to much more powerful engines. It's 2017 and we're given 1998 graphics. You called the engine a big improvement over the previous version. The improvement is marginal, at best, when it comes to the graphical aspect. Why aren't we getting a proper graphical engine? I would really like to understand the reasoning behind. It's 2017 and I can't see a player perform an actual skill move. I can't see a lobbed penalty kick. I can't see an over the wall and down placed free kick. They are all the same, every time, every year.
"Cleon said in the Tactics sub forum, that they are working on a completly new engine and that it will probably first be available at the earliest FM2020."
"There is not much more they can do with the current engine, it does not support the things of todays football."

If all setting were equal then they'd be the same. The only roles that have special under the hood behaviors are targetmen, playmakers and the half back. The rest (if you was allowed to use any instructions) could all be recreated like you say.
And i guess the under the hood things, in the case of the playmakers is that other players is more likely to pass the ball to him?
And if it is like above and you have Messi playing AMR, you would want to set him as a playmaker with dribble more, instead of a inside forward(most people set inside forwards to shoot less often most of the times anyway)
another question: in what situation/role would you ever use the "shoot more often", dont see it beeing used much.

Guess my question got lost in my last post.
AML/AMR, would an "Advanced playmaker - support" with "Dribble more", play the exact same way as an "Inside forward - support" with "Shoot less often".
They now have the same PI's/Mentality etc., or are they some hidden things we cant see, that make them play different?

I've skipped two versions of FM, and I'm trying out the FM17 demo. How do I retrain a player to a new position? I'm trying to retrain Alex Pritchard to natural at AM(C), he starts out at Accomplished, but I can't see a specific option to retrain. Is selecting training him as Advanced Playmaker from the AM(C) list and playing at AM(C) enough?
Development>Training>Postion/Role> Attacking Midfielder (centre)>choose the role you want him to train at.
He will then be training AMC and the role you choosen.
