    Hi All

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

My FM auto-saves to One Drive.

But, just say a user does not have One Drive, what happens then?

I think you mean the game auto-saves to 'Documents' which is then backed up to OneDrive?

Whether you have OneDrive or not, the game is saved to local storage.

Sadly it’s not connecting on RP again. But….thanks @RICO…. Cloud working. Otherwise I would have been livid. A lot of money for a consistently non performing product. On MS but I do think SI should press them.

Cloud is the way to go. Saves on your electricity bill as well considering you’re already paying for game pass!

Cheers @RICO. I’m away from home now for a week and remote play is working fine. I set up the cloud option on my iPad Home Screen yesterday as per your instructions so it’s good to know I have that in reserve. As mentioned RP works fine virtually all the time (bit of lagging which I think I can remedy with a cable). But with the cloud stuff I feel covered. Makes me question if I should have ever bought the Xbox itself!!! If I can play cloud on iPad for £10 a month

    Excellent, see how it goes.

No idea tbh and away until Weds but not sure if that’s a problem. The weird thing is it works fine until Saturday. It really seems like Saturday something happens - maybe an update day? Or high usage?

do you recommend (unofficially) that I set to always on?

    many thanks

Use the cloud gaming option, it will be far more reliable than remote play.

  5. If the fan is on it means the CPU and/or GPU is hot and needs to be cooled.

If you set the fan to passive, the CPU clock speed will be slowed in order to run the CPU with little or no fan. It’ll be quiet but slow.

Try the 2D match instead of 3D. Although you’re saying this is happening before starting a game it may make a difference.

That’s my own lack of knowledge. I have got the £10 subscription for game pass. Is what you’re discussing something different again?

Just got home. Tried to remotely connect immediately and it didn’t work. Switched xbox on and off…..remote play works! It is part of the advice on the link you sent me but having to manually restart the xbox is a complete anathema to the concept of remote play. Neither MS or SI (obviously almost entirely MS responsibility) giving any assistance.

    once again thank you Rico.

Game pass gives you access to the beta cloud gaming service. It doesn’t require ownership of an Xbox and you should be able to login and play FM here - https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/play

Remote play just requires ownership of an Xbox and doesn’t require a game pass subscription.

That’s almost definitely not the problem. It restarts from completely off, or stand by,100% of the time during the week.

I went to the Microsoft retail  store in central London today. They apologised for their appalling phone customer service and said it’s widely recognised to be embarrassing (quite a confession). They gave me an alternative number which they said Microsoft employees use which should get answered. I havent had the chance to dial it yet.

on the link you sent , one of the options to cure this problem is restarting the Xbox. And that does seem to be the solution….only problem being that I’m miles away from my Xbox and why remotely play if you’re stood next to the bloody thing.

the one thing I’ll grudgingly say in MS defence (notwithstanding Ryan Air levels of customer service) is that they told me in store that cloud gaming is a Beta service and therefore prone to errors. I don’t remember SI saying this in any of their literature when advocating the joys of continuing to play FMT on iPad.

mind you I don’t really remember SI communicating much on this forum anyway ;-)

The beta cloud gaming streaming service is different to the Xbox remote play that you’ve been using. It doesn’t require a physical Xbox but does require a £10ish per month subscription. Budget aside, I expect you would find it more reliable than remote play. First month is £1 if you want to try it.

I think SI have only ever mentioned the use of the cloud gaming streaming service.

  8. Okay I see.

Difficult to say what the cause is but a couple of things maybe worth a try / experiment.

    1) when you get home are you still unable to connect when the iPad is on the same network as the Xbox?

    2) does the problem only occur when the Xbox is in a low power standby state, is it okay if the Xbox is already powered on fully at the time of trying to connect

    3) depending on the above and despite the good Wi-Fi, is it possible to run the Xbox on a wired connection to the router?

    4) somewhere in the settings on the Xbox there is an Xbox services connectivity check wizard which may be worth running to see if it mentions anything

    5) has anything changed on the router (Xbox side) in the last few weeks like a firmware upgrade? have you tried rebooting the router?

Thank you for your reply Desmond. Simply put at weekends, usually at my gf’s home, my iPad doesn’t remotely connect with the Xbox. All the required instructions are in place, the Wi-Fi is super fast in both homes and it was working fine until the last fortnight. The message asks me to try again later but it doesn’t work until I return home and switch on and off the Xbox. Basically it’s a complete failure of remote play. Microsoft support is terrible, which is surprising and disappointing, so I turn to this forum.
Considering remote play, of FM in particular, was my biggest reason for shelling out £550 I’m pretty peeved.

I’ve used the remote connect a few times to my Series X. Normally I’ve connected to the Xbox when it’s on the home screen and then launched a game.

Are you doing the same? or are you trying to connect whilst FM is loaded?

Do you have the same problem connecting if the Xbox is on the home screen or with a game other than FM loaded - by a way of excluding FM from this issue.

I just heard about the 30 season limit last night when researching the game. Do you know if that is with all versions outside of the regular? Like, Touch, mobile and Xbox? And is that limit with the original as well?

Touch, mobile and Xbox editions I think.

    Full version is unlimited.

FMT21 was 30 season limited on tablets but unlimited on pc.

The full version of FM2022 is so slow that it takes a decade to complete a season. Even with all decisions delegated to staff. Wonder how it becomes in 2035? The speed slows down drastically I bet.

I delegated training, staff appointments and just concentrated on transfers and tactics. I’m at 16.5 hours with two games of the season left in L2. Somewhat of an experiment at this stage vs Xbox version on pc (or a return to FMT21…)

I know you said you weren't massively into unlockables, but do you know if those same unlockables from previous fm touch games are on the xbox edition for pc? I'm asking specifically because I always loved using the design your own son unlockable, so I can customize my son's strengths and weaknesses, play style, position, etc. and follow his career.

If I plan on playing FM 22 Xbox edition on PC it appears I need to have the Xbox Game Pass. I don't have an Xbox, I'm just looking to play a Touch version of Football Manager 22 on PC. Could I get the Xbox Game Pass for 1 month using the $1 introductory subscription offer, and then get rid of it and still be able to play FM 22 Xbox edition on my PC offline afterwards, or will that not work?

Edit: I guess my question is whether I can play the Xbox edition without having to do anything revolving around Xbox to get it to play on PC. Like, can I just purchase that version of the game and play it on PC without needing an Xbox Game Pass subscription or Xbox console or anything like that?

I will check the son DLC, there are certainly some of the others like dodgy lasagna.

You don’t need an Xbox to play on pc. I have an Xbox but I don’t have a game pass subscription. I just purchased the game from the MS store and that allows me to play on pc and Xbox.

You're aware of the 30 season limit?

There is also a overall 1GB save game restriction. Saved gamed are stored in the MS cloud (although I have found a way of backing up the saved game because it caches a local copy when the saved game is loaded)

I have a question regarding Football Manager 22 Xbox edition and Touch. It appears Xbox edition can still be played on PC, and that would be the preferable option for me. In previous years of Touch, with Steam, there was DLC we could pay for or unlock. A big reason I preferred Touch over regular Football Manager was because of the 'Design your own son' feature. It didn't cost that much and I always found it worth it to have a little career following the guy around. Since this edition is not with steam (xbox and/or touch i mean) we will still have the option for this DLC, does it automatically come with the game, or is it gone? This is something I really want to know before potentially buying the game and when deciding which version of the game to buy. My other question is regarding downloading team kits, logos, player logos, etc. I've noticed in the past the majority of teams and players are missing these, and are replaced with generic kits and logos. This was easily worked around by downloading fan made logos, kits, and faces from websites like sortitoutsi, and applying them into the appropriate areas inside your Sports Interactive folder. Would this still be the same when playing FM 22 Xbox edition on PC, and what about Touch on Switch? These are my main questions I really want to know. I'm a huge FM fan, but have always preferred the simpler Touch version for that DLC (most importantly 'Design your own son'), and of course like most fans prefer the ability to add the missing kits and logos of teams, and faces of players.

Download of kits, logos, faces etc still works on pc. Create a graphics folder in documents, same as with non-Xbox versions.

    Hey,

So I delved into FM22, the first time I played it in years.

Controller feels weird in cursor and default mode - maybe just takes some time to adjust.

I hooked up a bluetooth mouse/keyboard. Cursor speed seems slow compared to used the controller. Is this normal, or worth me buying a new mouse?

    Cheers!

Check your mouse cursor speed in Xbox settings.

Because Xbox Edition is an Xbox Play Anywhere title (meaning your data, saves etc. are automatically available on any Xbox or on Windows 10/11 as long as you're logged into the same account), it has to use Microsoft's cloud saving system rather than saving locally, so there is no way to access the file system to add custom graphics.

It should be higher than this - we're trying to resolve it as soon as we can.

    I've added custom graphics via 'C:\Users\****\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2022 Xbox Edition\graphics'

Same logo packs etc as used with the full fat game.
