I know you are able to do a bit of this in the Team Instructions and by individually giving players instructions, but I need a fully different formation in and out of possession.
I play with a 4-3-3 DM Wide. However, when I attack, I want my DM to drop in between my two CBs so it's effectively a back three so that I can give my full backs the ability to move forwards to the wings, with the deepest player besides my three effective CBs being my DLP in midfield.
However, I do not want to play with a back three when defending. When defending, I want my DM to play in DM (so on the edge of the area) to help prevent the opposition exploiting me from that position - even playing with a Libero causes me to concede too many goals from the edge of the area compared to when I play with a DM instead.
There is no defensive midfield role I have seen that does this properly - the closest is probably Half-Back or Anchor, but even then I often find my DM on the edge of the opposition area when attacking, with my CBs around the halfway line. Also, whatever player instructions I use on my DM don't help.
This becomes problematic when we are on the attack and we lose the ball - opposition defenders can just boot the ball to their striker who is in the gap in between my 2 CBs where my DM should be because I told my CBs to stay wider, and then the striker scores.
I am sure many other FM players have an idea of what they want their team to look like when attacking and defending, so I'm sure this wouldn't just benefit my specific issue, it would be a very welcomed feature/improvement to an existing feature and can't be that hard to implement either. Also, it is very common for teams to do this in real life (obviously managers don't just tell their players to all hold the same positions all the time).
Because the DM is the most important player in my tactic, it becomes really frustrating when this doesn't happen and it puts me off doing tactics altogether and makes me lean towards just loading in a stock tactic and plugging in players. Please change this, it would be really good.
