  1. Hi all, I've been reading the 'Art of Attacking football' thread this evening and it dawned on me that I've never actually set up an Attacking style of football before, so here goes! I'm a Liverpool fan and last season sat on the KOP watching players press the back line constantly was brilliant to see. I've taken over an Inter side and I'm having some good performances and results. My concern however, and I've seen this with Liverpool in real life, is the backline's vulnerability to balls over the top. I expect this to be typically true when it comes to facing better and stronger sides. I can already see Pogba pinging Dybala on goal several times with his ability. Naturally, I'm keen to stop this. My set up is the following; I've gone for Control at the moment as I feel it's aggressive enough and it allows my players a little more time to think before passing. With many, many Serie A teams using five defender formations, space isn't always there. I don't want them to rush and make mistakes. I've compensated for this by giving the a Fluid system to bring the lines closer together so they press more as a unit. This is open to change as the season goes on. My questions are; - Against better sides which will be able to probably counter my aggressive style of pressing, what adjustments should/must I make to stop better players having a field day? - Would "Use Offside trap" be a good idea to hold the line and prevent balls over the top. I don't want to drop any deeper as I want to make sure there is less space for the opposition to harry them, ala Klopp with Dortmund & Liverpool. - If not, when would you use "Use Offside trap"? I never see it on these forums. Thank
  2. Any ideas guys? Still leaking a lot of goals. 4-0 away to Newcastle.
  3. For my Controlling tactic; I want the players to know their roles and focus on maintaining their shape. For my Counter tactic; The players are allowed a little more freedom to express but also remain focused on their roles. A balance.
  4. Hi all, I've only recently picked up FM16 after a few years break from the series. I've had some interesting saves with Inter Milan, Poland national team and recently Stoke. Mark Hughes was sacked and I was left to pick up the pieces. We managed to avoid relegation, after some nail biting results which included beating 2nd placed Manchester City 2 - 0 at home. My most common set up is an Asymmetric 4-4-1-1 Controlling formation. As you can see, it works quite well. Another set up I have is a 4-1-4-1 Countering formation. The problem I have unfortunately is I simply can't stop conceding goals. It was a problem I've had since my first game in charge of Stoke and though I know I will never be able to shut out every game but conceding goals, mainly from crosses is getting me down. Here is the conceding map for my team, applied over both tactics. I'm conceding far too many crosses and headers for players of their ability in my defence. I'm closing the wingers and fullbacks down and I know that you can never stop 100% of crosses but I need to tighten up. I focus on Defensive Positioning for every match too. I don't know how to approach this and I honestly think I've read so much over the past few days that I'm simply overlooking something very simple. I was struggling with the tactical side of the game so I read the Art of Possession, Counter Attacking and Attacking by Cleon. Great reads!
  5. I think your striker is being isolated. What is it you want them to do? An Advanced Forward will work the channels, chase balls etc. This really isn't ideal in your set up as you'll want someone central. So if you want someone on the defender's shoulders, I would suggest Poacher. I'd be interested to see the stats for your games because I have a feeling you're dominating possession but not really offering a goal threat.
  6. Hi all, It's been a few years since I've posted here. I recently picked up FM16 after a two year absence. I'm really enjoying it so far but one thing that has puzzled me and I can't find a guide to it are pitch sizes. I've just finished the first season with Inter Milan and my grounds man has asked for the specifications. I'm playing a possession based tactic so I think the pitch needs to be as big as possible but there are so many options. Is there a guide at all? I sometimes have a counter attacking tactic depending on the opposition. How do I strike a balance? Any advice? Thanks!

  8. I used to buy every version, without fail on the day it was released but this year I've been strapped for cash, busy with work and just didn't have the motivation. Is it worth it? I was dreadfully disappointed with FM13. It's still expensive on Steam, with a price of £34.99. Is it worth stumping up that cash with FM 15 only a few months away? Is there a way to get it cheaper? I don't mind giving my money to SiGames, but with it already the new season, it feels odd to pay full price.
  9. 30 is still relatively 'young'. I'm not surprised. Players are more incline to accept paycuts when they're 33-34 in my opinion.
  10. As a Liverpool fan, I've shouted my fair share of naughty words at this man over the past couple of seasons. He really does seem to make some very odd decisions against us. He repays this by giving me plenty of decisions in game, however.
  11. Ok two things I have noted personally, feel free to disagree anyone; A) How quick are your wingers? If they're not by-line wingers, using their pace and acceleration to get past their man and get a cross in then they'll be useless with an Attack setting. Support will tell your winger to receive the ball, get their head up and look for the strikers/players in field. This is also a good setting to employ if your winger is struggling to get past a particularly defensive full back. B) Are you sure setting your Target Man to attack is the correct one? I have never been able to get a Target Man to play well using the Attack setting unless he is playing with someone next to him (not behind him). Try switching to Support duty and make him contribute more, dropping a little deeper, holding the ball up for your Trequartista to be brought in to play more. At this moment he looks a little isolated up top, because your TQ isn't going to win the ball back for him to hold up and fashion a chance for himself.
  12. I made a new account, and it's currently downloading. Thank God. I've lived in three different countries in the past couple of years and I've never had problems like this, Spain is crazy.
  13. An unexpected error has occurred, your purchase has not been completed. Please contact Steam.
  14. Well in the past Steam have taken days to reply to me, weeks in fact. I have to admit I have a short fuse with them and find their customer support and contact services to be amongst the worse I've encountered. Having spoken to a friend he seems to think that moving to Spain, and my account being set up in the United Kingdom means they've locked my IP to that account. What do you think? If that were the case, is a new account a good idea, using the same credit card/paypal?
