All sides that enter the German Cup should play the situation better. Even my free time football club consisting mainly of 30-40 year-old out-of-shape players would have defended that scenario better.

You see schoolboy errors even at the highest level day to day Mr. Even lpool and City I'd say stones scoring at the near post poor defending

you deleted my post why dont u delete scripting from the game

the results are already decided before the game has even kicked off, its so obvious

How else should it work Mr.?They are not decided randomly, lots of factors matter just like IRL, quality (attributes), morale, fitness, form, home, away, etc, all these play a part and If you make your changes during the match(marking, exploiting slow players, exploiting shorter players on crosses etc etc etc)you can maybe tilt the results for or against you.

The trigger for me stopping with this year's game / ME was after running a test in neutralising a gegenpress 4231 system.

I was establishing a base on the latest patch to see if much changed, used Man City as the home team and Liverpool as the away. With equal settings given (player condition / an identical 4231 tactic / set pieces etc), after half a dozen tests, one scoreline was shockingly unrealistic.  Shame I didn't think about saving the pkm, but I had the same reaction - I just turned off the game and that was enough, as there's no way I can play a serious game on FM24 with the game churning out such rubbish.

The scoreline was Man City 10 - 0 Liverpool. (no red cards or anything like that) This suggests to me that there's definitely a major flaw with how this game is calculating things, because this is a scoreline you should never see if you were to run this infinite times with these two closely contested teams.

I mean last season Lpool were struggling a bit like united at some point and won 7-0 against them, I think I understand what yous saying but i'd never say never in football

This is where the confusion lies. Or people are saying things just for the sake of saying things?

    - If your world-class striker can't hit a cow's backside with a banjo then unfortunately and I hate being that guy, but that's on you and your tactic. Strikers are the main scores in FM24 (unless you create a system where they're not the main threat) and if you create a system suited for your WC striker, then they can be very effective. Tactically, some people may need to be more careful with roles/instructions. Example, if playing 2 AFs and a SS, that's 3 players moving into the channels. Are too many players trying to attack the same channel therefore effecting the movement of one of your strikers?

    - AI keepers do have great games. On the flip side, if they didn't, you will be here complaining that you're scoring 5/6 goals every game. Challenge yourself to create more Clear Cut and Half Chances. Some people (me included) complain AI keeper playing too good but when I look, from their 20 shots, they took 14 long shots. If a keeper saves about 7 of your long shots, it will give him a good rating because he's stopping the ball from going into his net.

    - If Arsenal are trying to lowball you, set a price and instruct your DOF to reject any offers below that. Sort a simple solution to that. If your player gets upset (admittedly, this is where game and interactions can improve), you tell him that Arsenal didn't offer enough and then tell your player how much they should pay. If the player is still upset, that's the challenge. It's not supposed to be that your player accepts that reason every time. Part of the challenge in FM is being able to keep your squad dynamics up. The game will throw curve balls, as it should.

    - World Class defences IRL always concede to low xG moments. To show how frequent that is, here is yesterday's Man City vs Man Utd. Rashford goal was at what xG? Lower than 0.4 but, Man City managed to concede that goal and it being the ONLY shot on target for United.

      Reveal hidden contents

    image.png.7bf9142e079ddaf03886f4764479f29a.png

    - You can accumulate a high xG if you take 30 shots. That doesn't mean that in fact you created great chances. Many people do that here - complain they had an high xG but took sooo many shots. Often, you're showing how often you create bad scoring chances.

As always, you can upload your findings and not just words. Your words that just complain don't help anyone and looks like you're just taking an opportunity to criticise because others are.

Some play this victim card when if they just read what they're typing, it would become obvious as to why certain comments are removed.

If you want support for your criticism from others then this isn't the way to go about it.

This is a brilliant take,I think the game needs a lot of improvement especially interactions and UI but at the same time lots of people complain simply because things don't go their way.

Setting up your striker as a complete forward doesn't mean he'll act complete and shoot more.Is he getting enough service? Is he familiar with the role?did you train him enough to be comfortable in the role?what is his quality and the quality of the opposition he's facing.

The game and football in general is all about balance. Having two ball playing defenders doesn't mean you will play like pep and have 70+ possession. They will take lots of risks and maybe lead to too many turnovers and if your team isn't good in ball recovery maybe you'll have the 30 possession.

People say pep is the best attacking coach but he's actually so defensive minded that's why he likes to always have the ball and make those extra passes to make sure the team is compact in the case of a turnover. You seen him yell at players when they make a successful attacking transition.attacking is not about verticality it's about finding the right structure, overloads, quality and decisions etc. When I play top teams and fullbacks all of my wingers have AP(s) and they are pretty fast. Why? because I recognize I need to take less risks in possession and avoid unnecessary turnovers.

People change their tactics game to game I mean don't you see Chelsea, motivate your players work on their tactical familiarity on the training ground,Find balance in your team and watch as things don't always go your way because that is football. Again passing through the centre means you'd lose the ball there and be open for a quick transition.Football is all about action and reaction.

This isn't a perfect simulation by any means guys but it does a good job of depicting real football if we are all being honest here.

There are half turns in the game but you can’t really instruct players to receive on the half turn.

Youve almost got to pass to players as they’re about to turn - or don’t pass into space, allow players to rneceive to feet and hope they do a spin on the half turn under pressure. Maybe the “likes ball played into feet” increases the likeliness.

all theory based, but also instructing those players to dribble more so they don’t do a first time pass maybe can help

Likes ball to feet and dribble more looks like a good combination for that tbf, coupled with good agility I thought. Thanks man

Yeah this what I am struggling with. There is no differentiation of AI playing styles within the current FM24 ME - a manager who favours route one football (e.g Everton, Stoke) has more possession, completed passes, a higher pass completion rate than a manager who favours a more possession orientated playing style (Man City, Arsenal etc.). That for me kills any form of realism. Anyway:

    FM24 Feedback

    Positives

    • Positional Play - Love seeing my IWB actually tuck into midfield to form a 3-2 with my DM to help create a box midfield. It doesn't seem complete as I would like my CM-A (Havertz) and F9 (Trossard) to rotate positions during play or IF (Martinelli) and PF-S (Jesus). I don't mean the swap positions option in player instructions.
    • IFB-D - Really love this role to create a 3 at the back. Again it doesn't feel complete as there should be a IFB-S role where he can overlap with forward runs but a fantastic addition :)

    Negatives

    • Pressing - The lack of pressing in the final third allows AI teams to rack up an unrealistic high pass completion and possession regardless of player ability, especially in a 3 or 5 at the back system. I think this is the biggest issue with this game as this creates issues with playing style and data. In FM24 all AI teams will have an insane press 4-6 OPPDA. Not all teams press high in real life. Free kicks and goal kicks players don't man mark (even with team/player/opposition instructions set to prevent this). In real life FBs/WBs back up the press by stepping forward to man mark. Something is missing. Strikers don't press high. Frustrating as it's not realistic.
    • AI Playing styles - Regardless of a manager's playing style there are only 2 active AI playing styles in FM24 tiki taka at the back when they want to keep the ball (and they will keep it) and gegenpressing when you have the ball.
    • Data - An offside shot should not count towards xG. No differentiation in OPPDA -  in my current game the OPPDA is between 4.35-5.45. Real life: In Arsenal's recent match 5-0 win away at Burnley - Arsenal had OPPDA 8.3 and Burnley had 17.2. Pass completion was 88% Arsenal and 76% Burnley. Possession Arsenal 60% and Burnley 40%. The data in FM24 for OPPDA and pass completion is really not good enough to create a realistic football gaming experience.
    • Set Piece Creator - I like the idea but I don't like the new design :herman:
    • AI Decision Making - It's non-existent. Elite teams not playing their best players for a cup final or big league games  The squad building is severely lacking after a couple of seasons.
    • Press Conferences - This is beyond outdated and unrealistic. Would Arteta get asked about random players from different teams being transfer listed before a UCL final? No.

    Overall

Pressing > Playing Style > Data

Pressing is causing issues in the game in regards to playing style and data :seagull: I want to play against low block teams who have a OPPDA of 15+. Positional play is a game changing addition for me but it's not complete. Despite the upcoming final update, I will probably go back to FM23 because the ME felt more realistic compared to this edition. In future FMs, I would love to see a new role for the goalkeeper (Ball Playing Goalkeeper) to really help with build up and to break a high press to act as a +1 (Raya, Ederson etc.). Finally, SI please understand less is more - before adding new data metrics check to see the current ones are working correctly and are realistic. Feels like 1 step forward (positional play) and 2 steps back (ME, AI).  2.5 out 5. Disappointing.

On press conferences,,A lot of random questions nowadays IRL, wouldn't be surprised

Personally I don't believe the "Mourinho has fallen behind the times tactically" narrative. His tactics were never what won him trophies.

What has changed drastically is his ability to relate to players and the media. 15-20 years ago, both loved him. Now both quickly come to despise him wherever he goes.

He's on a quest / warpath centered on "correct" behaviour from both and it very quickly turns toxic.

Yes plus his tactics are mostly based on containing the opposition.I believe he could still do a job in the one off games, knockout stages etc but over a 38 game period you need a playing style and habits for your players.

While it is a tremendous goal i cant help thinking whu a player would take that option when he could of controlled and shot or passed it to the player near him . For this reasoning im finding many goals are way to over powerered in there delivery of shots . There doesnt seem to be any finesse in front of the goals . Occasionally you might get a close shot goal but it seems like its 85% power goals in this game . Even goal of the month or year in the Awards section are all power shots from 25-30m out

Where did you get this '85%s'?,,It's a good goal mate, I've seen a lot of placed shots I don't think it's a concern, they aren't more than pwr or normal shots even IRL,Maybe he knew he was off and went for it or he has it in him a lot of similiar instances in real life when players choose the harder or unexpected choice, see this placed shot and maybe watch more highlights or other teams matches for more

Reading through this thread it seems to me many of those complaining play OP tactics and cry when they get an injury, a team talk goes wrong or the AI scores with their one shot on target. Too many cry babies in here.

I feel same too, most people want to get things going their way like a fantasy world or sth but again most pro coaches, pep, klopp, arteta are always complaining nowadays as well so I think it's well balanced😂

I get games like this happen sometimes but I'm losing the will to live when it is happening every other game for me. I'm creating good chances. I'm defending well and keeping teams and bay. Yet apparently whoever I'm playing against has the most lethal finishers and I have the most profligate. Sick and tired of it.

I feel you bro this is Chelsea IRL,  ahead in xg in almost all matches but still losing

They do scout, otherwise your manual search wouldn't tell you anything, as the scouting package only gives you minimal knowledge. The issue is that a ton of these scouted players, despite fitting your scouting focus simply don't get recommended ever.

Pretty cool to miss out on some next Messi tho,,than getting all wonderkids available recommended to you

Sorry this utterly baffles me. I’ve never heard anything about other players making noise about players getting new contracts. So why is this in the game?

SI have gotten rid of fines and other things that help the player under the premise of “realism”

what’s realistic about a squad player getting backed by 5 players saying give him a new contract?????

Where has SI conjured up this nonsense?

    What’s the explanation

A lot goes on behind the scenes at clubs, again it's not an issue unless you want a stress free or unrealistic managerial experience

The fitness issue is unbearable in this game... Players can hardly complete a game even though the player's training workload is below medium (Dark Blue) and I varied the tactical intensity (sometimes medium...  Even if you start the game with 100% condition and medium intensity by the 70th minute players are fatiguing and the Ast.coach is instructing to sub-players...

We are not talking about 1 or 2  (who are in intensive positions) .. we are talking about 7-8 players...  I mean why the hell Center Backs are fatiguing???!!! Even in in Maxed-Out Gangapress Tacitic...  Can anyone tell me when have you ever seen a manager taking a central defender off for fatigue.. the only players that should be susceptible to fatigue are Full-backs and CM/CDMs... maybe strikers if asked to do hard-pressing for the whole game and then retreating to a low block.. but such players should have high stamina scores.. what's the point of having 16+ stamina rating that beed to be substituted EVERY GAME ?!! regardless of the tactic and position

This is totally unmanageable, as players IRL play easily TWO 90 minutes  3 days.. and the only time that you need to make serious rotation is during the -Christmas/April period (in The English league) as teams will play 3 games within 6-7 days...

Newcastle (who play a very high-intensity style) played 100 minutes against PSG with NO substitutes.. away from home + Int travel.. then the same players played against Man UTD and they won.. so anyone claiming this aspect of FM is relastic

Even if you are willing to do the Two strong IX to rotate... you get constant player unhappiness for playing time.. plus the game will trigger injuries when you have very good backups .. and ur back to square one

Last year Rodri played 54 games in CDM (no.6) in probably the most demanding role in the team.. in PL he played 90 minutes 32 times !!.. Yes Pep rotates at the start of the season (well everyone except Rodri) but towards the end he was playing the same 7-8 players from Feb-May (in 3 competitions)... Fatigue and deterioration in Physical condition come towards the end of the season March/April.. not in between games in September, October, and November!!!

Substitution should be used primarily for tactical objectives.. however, in FM24 you constantly need to use ALL substitutions for fitness reasons in EVERY Game... that's nonsensical...

To top it all..now in FM24 it seems that the U21 and U18 managers don't want TO ROTATE and players are constantly out of shape while others are fatigued... In previous versions, if you picked the team then the U21/U18 managers would play that selection ..  but in FM24 they will ignore that selection and go with an exhausted player in a friendly that I arranged to improve the match sharpness... I even edited the squad rotation rating (to 20) for both u21 and u18 head coaches...but that wont work

After more 20 years of making this game and giving us relatively the same product for the past 4-5 years...  SI should have had this issue nailed.. where a medium to high-intensity game should NEVER require any player substitution (maybe ONE or Two) unless for an Injury or tactical reason... and the players should be at 95-98% condition for the following game with medium-intensity training and should be able to complete that game as well without the need for substitution...

By the way, I used intensive Physical Training in the first 2 weeks of pre-season.. still, it did not resolve these Glitches in the game... Players should be able to complete a 90 minutes of a high-intensity game and another 90 medium-intensity game after 3 days without the A NEED to be substituted..

If people are enjoying such dynamics then that's fine.. but maybe there should be an option for reducing the tactical intensity impact on fitness...

Rodri playing 54 matches last season doesn't mean he was always not fatigued, he probably was starting most matches at 80% ,90% etc even 70% maybe, very rarely IRL are players at 100%
